Tuesdays top tips

Russell Martin takes charge of Rangers for the first time in a competitive game tonight and the stakes are high as they face Panathinaikos in a crunch UEFA Champions League qualifier.

This is a tricky Ibrox debut for the former Southampton gaffer and I'm sure he would have preferred an easier tie to kick off his reign.

Martin has made six summer signings and is trying to introduce a new style of play so there may be a few teething troubles against a side who finished second in Greece's top flight last term.

Rangers vs Panathinaikos top betting tips

With this game coming so early in Martin's reign, I'm surprised to see Rangers as 3/4 favourites with BoyleSports, even though Ibrox has been a European fortress in recent seasons.

Martin always played out from the back during his time at Southampton, even when it was being ruthlessly punished by top Premier League clubs, so I'd imagine that will be the case with Rangers too.

It should make their games entertaining this season, especially in Europe, so going for goals looks like the best move tonight.

Combining BTTS and over 2.5 strikes pays 23/20 at BoyleSports while over 1.5 first-half goals is priced at 13/8.

Danilo is likely to start up front for Rangers with Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane a bit behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness. The Brazilian is 49/20 at Unibet to score and that seems a bit overpriced.

England Women vs Italy Women

It's semi-final time at the women's European Championships and holders England are favourites to see off Italy as they bid to reach another final.

BoyleSports price the Lionesses at 1/5 to go through, with the Azzurri 16/5 outsiders in the same market.

Sarina Wiegman's side have blown hot and cold so far at these finals, with their inconsistency summed up in the quarter-final as they came from 2-0 down to beat Sweden on penalties.

Few people fancied the Italians to get this far but they dug deep to see off Norway with a late goal in the quarter-finals.

Italy lost 3-1 to Spain in the group stage and that suggests they could struggle against the Lionesses. I'm going to back England to be winning at half-time and full-time, which pays 5/4 at BoyleSports.

Alessia Russo should lead the line again for Wiegman's side and she's a decent 11/8 for anytime scorer.

Motherwell vs Morton

It's another busy night in the Scottish League Cup and Mothewell's clash with Morton should decide who ends up topping Group G.

New boss Jens Berthel Askou has got off to an unconvincing start at Well, with a 2-2 draw at Clyde followed by narrow wins over Peterhead and Stenhousemuir.

Morton are a step up in class and Dougie Imrie's men have a perfect record so far after beating Peterhead 4-2 and thrashing Stenny 3-0.

The Championship side look a bit overpriced at 10/3 but they might play for a draw as that would ensure they can top the group by beating Clyde in their final game.

I'm going to bet against BTTS for this one at evens with BoyleSports while under 2.5 goals also looks decent at 21/20.

Tuesday's Super Singles

  • England Women HT-FT 5/4 BoyleSports

Panathinaikos at 7/2 are far to big imo Rangers first game under their new manager could put them under a bit of pressure if things don`t go well for them early on .
Can see it getting a bit feisty as well . I will be having a punt on cards if any bookie is doing them .

A little amusement on an otherwise dull day:

The England women’s team have issued a press release refusing to ‘take the knee’ tonight, after alleged racíst comments made towards Jess Clark.

However, this is likely just a smokescreen designed to deflect attention away from a chart circulating on social media which highlights ‘same sex’ romantic liaisons across the women’s game.

“Sources close to the stars, who are preparing to take on Italy in the semi-finals of the Women’s Euros, have branded the diagram ‘ethically dicey’ because it appears to ‘out’ some players. The so-called lesbían ‘Couples Chart’ features more than 600 women’s football players, including several of the Lionesses.

While some of the England squad have chosen to be open about the relationships which are highlighted on the diagram – including striker Beth Mead, 30, who has been dating Dutch footballer Vivianne Miedema for three years – others have not.

At the best it might be a bit of harmless fun but it’s also ethically dicey. Some players are gay and are happy to be out, others aren’t, and it should absolutely be their choice what they do, not have it written on social media.”

The only time women’s footballers seem to be good at scoring is with one another 👍🤣

East Kilbride playing again tonight. Their cup games are usually good for goals. Their previous 3 games have seen 4, 6 and 5 goals with East Kilbride scoring 1,4 and 4 team goals in each game. Cue a 0-0 now but just thought I’d point it out 😂
