THERE are some great handicaps for us to get our teeth into today with plenty of good betting prospects.
I have three selections in the UK but my first one is at Fairyhouse over in Ireland where they also have a decent card today.
2.10 Fairyhouse
CUBOMANIA has been highly tried this season in novice chases but performed well last time back in a handicap. In a handicap again today I think he has a better chance than his price suggests and could benefit from having Robbie Power in the saddle.
2.25 Warwick
STONEY MOUNTAIN looks like a smart horse to me and although the favourite Tidal Flow looks very good the value bet seems to be with Henry Daly’s six-year-old.
Sam Twiston-Davies takes the ride because Richard Johnson is required for Philip Hobbs and Brocade Racing but that is not a disaster and I am looking forward to a really good race. I also considered Finawn Bawn who I think is a potential improver having only had 3 runs. This is a bit too much for him today I think but keep an eye on him for races in future.
2.40 Kempton
Shrewd punters will always advise you not to let the price of a horse put you off if it’s a big price so I’m not going to let myself get concerned by the fact COTSWOLD WAY remains a big price for this race. He looks to have a really strong chance to me as an unexposed six-year-old and I’ll be having a good each-way bet on him at these prices.
3.00 Warwick
A really competitive staying chase here with lots of old friends lining up. The one I am keen on is CALETT MAD for Nigel Twiston-Davies and ridden by the excellent James Bowen.
The horse has looked an out and out stayer from day one and was successful over hurdles in staying races. Over fences he managed to carry top weight to second place in the Borders National at Kelso last time out which is no mean feat. He has a much better racing weight today and although it’s a better race I can see him running a blinder.
