RANGERS and Celtic are in action on Sunday – but they're not on the same pitch and not even in the same competition.

We'll leave that to next Sunday when the Old Firm face off in the Co-op Cup Final – their sixth meeting of a manic season.

Rangers face Kilmarnock as they try to close the gap at the top to two points while Celtic aim for a Scottish Cup semi-final slot at Inverness.

It's been a tough time for Rangers but they showed great resilience to battle out a 0-0 draw at PSV in the Europa League on Thursday. Walter Smith parked the bus but this time he'll leave it outside Ibrox as he goes for three points.

Killie have responded well to a 5-0 defeat at Aberdeen by beating St Mirren and Hearts 2-0 to climb up to fourth.
But they have a terrible record against Rangers and already this season have lost three out of three.

Mixu Paatelainen's men will also be without playmaker Alexei Eremenko and that's a massive loss.

Rangers are a biggest 3-10 with Stan James to win but instead consider them at 17-20 with William Hill to win to nil. Eight of their last nine victories have been with a clean sheet.

Celtic have famously being knocked out of the Scottish Cup twice by Inverness in recent seasons.

Could it be a third time? Don't completely rule it out.

Celtic are without the likes of Daniel Majstorovic, Scott Brown and Joe Ledley as they head to the Highlands to face a side that's one three out of four at home after previously chalking up a poor record.

It's usually a one-goal win for the Hoops in the Highlands and a repeat of that or score draw is on.

With Celtic so short at 4-9 with Blue Square and totesport Inverness are extremely backable at 8-11 with bet365 plus two goals.

Just to win Terry Butcher's men are 7-1 with the likes of Paddy Power and Ladbrokes while the draw pays 7-2.

The other tie sees Dundee United entertain Motherwell. I'd be all over the Arabs if it wasn't their third game in seven days.

They beat Aberdeen on Monday and Hamilton with a last-minute goal on Thursday so there's no doubt about their form.

The only fear is fatigue and if they can overcome that United are a good bet at evens with Stan James. Motherwell, who lost 2-0 at Tannadice in January, are 14-5 with totesport.

The Fir Park men have only one in the second once in 29 outings. That makes me consider draw/United HT/FT at 19-5 Chandler. I advised that bet at 7-2 on Thursday and it came up.

Recommendations

  • Rangers to win to nil (17-20, William Hill)
  • Inverness plus two (8-11, bet365)
  • Draw/Dundee Utd HT/FT (19-5, Chandler)
