Fighting it out for the Nations League trophy, Portugal and Spain will contest this year’s final at the Allianz Arena on Sunday night.
Portugal staged an impressive comeback at the semi-final stage to claim a 2-1 win over Germany on Wednesday night, while Spain saw off France with a frantic 5-4 victory on Thursday.
I’ve already covered Sunday’s night’s showpiece in a separate match preview but I’m going to take this opportunity to go into more detail in regards to one of the three recommended selections outlined.
Lamine Yamal can be backed at 10/11 on PaddyPower to either score or to provide an assist on Sunday night and that looks too big to ignore.
The 17-year-old was the star of the show during Spain’s aforementioned 5-4 win over France on Thursday night, helping himself to two goals.
That brace means the Barcelona boy wonder has scored six times for the Spanish senior team, with four of those goals arriving across his last eight appearances.
On top of that, Yamal has also chipped in with nine assists, meaning that he has registered a mighty impressive 15 goal involvements across his 20 outings for his country.
What’s more, Yamal was scoring goals and providing assists with eye-catching frequency for Barcelona across the domestic season that has just concluded.
In fact, the teenage sensation ended the campaign with an eye-catching return of 18 goals and 25 assists for the Catalan giants.
That doesn’t augur well for a Portugal side that have found clean sheets hard to come by in recent times.
The Selecao have failed to silence their opponents in nine of their last 10 matches across all competitions, including each of their last five.
Given Portugal’s defensive vulnerability, backing Yamal for a goal or an assist on Sunday night looks like an obvious angle attack at a shade under even-money.
