Seeking to record a third straight win in this season’s Champions League, Arsenal will welcome Atletico Madrid to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Gunners have produced a couple of typically-efficient performances to see off both Athletic Bilbao and Olympiacos with 2-0 victories.
As for Atletico Madrid, they bounced back from a bruising 3-2 defeat at Liverpool in style by thumping Frankfurt 5-1 on matchday two.
Over 1.5 Atletico Madrid Cards
For the first leg of what will be a Bet Builder double, I’m more than happy to include a minimum of two Atletico Madrid cards. The visitors have long been a team that is accustomed to playing their part in card-heavy contests over the years, with Diego Simeone's team typically the ones that are tackling themselves into trouble.
The Spanish heavyweights have averaged 2.22 yellow cards per game in La Liga this season, not to mention that they have already picked up a couple of red cards this term.
In terms of the Champions League, Atleti collected two cards in their aforementioned defeat at Liverpool, and I would expect a repeat here when they come up against another one of the Premier League’s big hitters in the shape of Arsenal this midweek.
Mikel Arteta has a squad that is laced with talented players, and I suspect the visitors will revert to the dark arts here to try and disrupt the home team's rhythm.
Moreover, three of the four visiting teams to pitch up at the Emirates in the Premier League this season have received two cards or more.
Bukayo Saka To Be Fouled 2 or More Times
One player who will almost certainly come in for some rough treatment on Tuesday night is Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka. The Gunners forward regularly finds himself on the receiving end of some robust challenges, a theme that has been particularly prominent in recent weeks.
In fact, Saka was fouled on no fewer than five separate occasions during Arsenal's 1-0 win at Fulham last time out. What’s more, the 24-year-old was also brought down on multiple occasions in each of his three top-flight outings prior to Saturday’s visit across the capital to Craven Cottage.
Team news permitting, Saka could find himself up against Atletico Madrid’s Matteo Ruggeri during this showdown. The Italian left-back was booked during Atleti's recent La Liga clash with Villarreal, not to mention he committed three fouls during his side’s 5-1 win over Frankfurt at the tail end of last month.
