Chelsea and Everton get the latest round of Premier League action underway at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams experienced contrasting results last weekend, with Chelsea staging a late comeback to defeat Fulham, while Everton were on the wrong end of a 2-0 reverse at home to Man City.
I’ve already covered this lunchtime clash in a separate match preview but I have since identified a player-based selection that stands out at the odds on offer.
Everton’s Idrissa Gueye can be backed at 10/11 on Bet 365 to commit two or more fouls on Saturday afternoon and that looks well worthy of support.
The experienced Everton midfielder's love of a strong tackle has often landed him in trouble with match officials this season.
That is evidenced by the fact that Gueye has averaged 1.65 fouls per game across his 32 appearances in this season’s Premier League.
Drill deeper and you will see that the tough-tackling Senegalese midfielder has committed two or more fouls in 14 of the 30 Premier League games that he has started for Everton this season.
That sample includes this season’s reverse fixture at Goodison Park, with Gueye guilty of two offences on that occasion.
It’s also worth noting that the 35-year-old has collected seven yellow cards in the Premier League this term, tackling himself into trouble in each of his last two outings.
If selected on Saturday, Gueye will almost certainly have his hands full at Stamford Bridge, as he will likely come up against Chelsea duo Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer, amongst others.
The above-mentioned Chelsea pair have proven to be very adept at drawing fouls from the opposition this season, with both respective players drawing north of 1.5 fouls per 90 in the Premier League this term.
So with all that in mind, siding with a minimum of two misdemeanours from Gueye at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon looks like an attractive option at a shade under even-money on Bet 365.
