SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Aberdeen and Celtic’s Scottish Cup final showdown on Saturday afternoon.

Aberdeen vs Celtic (Saturday, 15:00)

Aberdeen and Celtic will contest the 140th edition of the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park on Saturday afternoon.

While Celtic are looking to successfully defend and lift the trophy for a record-extending 43rd time, Aberdeen are targeting a first triumph in this competition since 1990.

Unsurprisingly, Celtic are short-priced 1/3 favourites on Boylesports on Saturday afternoon, however backing the Hoopes with a -1.5  Asian Handicap hurdle will boost the odds to a much more enticing 49/50 on UniBet.

This selection would yield profit if Celtic deliver a 90 minute victory by at least a two goal winning-margin, and that holds plenty of appeal given the huge gap in quality and financial power between the clubs.

As has tended to be the case more often than not in recent years, Brendan Rodgers’ side have cruised their way to yet another Scottish Premiership title with little fuss this season.

While Aberdeen started the season strongly and were even talked about as potential title challengers, that has long become a distant memory.

In fact, Jimmy Thelin’s team could only muster up five wins from their final 27 league games of the season, a wretched return that resulted in them limping to a fifth-placed finish.

Across that 27-game sequence, the Dons were defeated three times by Celtic, including a pair of 5-1 drubbings both home and away.

What’s more, the two teams have already gone head-to-head at Hampden this season at the semi-final stage of the Scottish League Cup, with Celtic claiming a comprehensive 6-0 victory.

It’s also worth noting that the Pittodrie outfit were put to the sword by Rangers towards the tail end of the season, suffering a 4-0 thrashing at Ibrox only a fortnight ago.

As such, confidence will be low in the Aberdeen camp coming into Saturday’s end of season showpiece with treble-chasing Celtic.

A whopping 27 of Celtic’s 29 Scottish Premiership victories this season arrived by two-goal margin or more, giving us an excellent value option of siding with a repeat at Hampden on Saturday at a shade under even-money.
