SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Falkirk’s clash with Airdrie in the Scottish Championship on Saturday.
Falkirk vs Airdrie (Saturday, 15:00)
Seeking to cement their position at the top of the table, Falkirk face Airdrie in the Scottish Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Bairns extended their lead at the summit of the standings with a commanding 4-0 win away at Queen’s Park last weekend.
As for Airdrie, they remain rock-bottom of the table, though they did put in a spirited display to claim a 3-3 draw at home to Livingston last time out.
Falkirk Win
Falkirk boast the strongest home record in the Scottish Championship this season, triumphing in 10 of their 14 outings in front of their own supporters. One of those victories came against Airdrie back in November, with the Bairns putting in a professional display to claim a 2-0 win. On top of this, the Bairns have banked maximum points from each of their two away games against the Diamonds this term, one of which was just over a fortnight ago.
It’s also worth noting Rhys McCabe’s men have come away empty-handed from 11 of their 14 second-tier road trips this term.
Over 1 Falkirk Goal
Fresh off the back of firing in four goals last weekend, Falkirk look well-placed to rack up at least a couple of strikes on Saturday. No team in the Scottish Championship has scored more goals than John McGlynn's side (59) this season, with the league leaders delivering multiple goals in 20 of their 29 outings to date, including nine of their 14 assignments at the Falkirk Stadium.
That doesn’t augur well for an Airdrie side that have conceded two goals or more in 19 of their 29 Scottish Championship matches this season, including 11 of their 14 away days. What’s more, the Diamonds’ backline was breached three times in their recent loss at home to high-flying Falkirk.
Over 5 Falkirk Corners
For the final leg of the Bet Builder, I’ll take Falkirk to earn six or more corners on Saturday afternoon. The attack-minded Bairns are averaging a whopping eight corners per game in the Scottish Championship this season. McGlynn's side have racked up a combined total of 29 corners across their previous three meetings with Airdrie this season, most recently hitting 12 when the pair crossed paths earlier this month
The Diamonds are giving up an average of 6.36 corners per 90 in the second tier this term, and that trend has to be fancied to continue at the Falkirk Stadium.
