After delivering a winning selection on Saturday, SlipsTips shares a player-based double ahead of Sunday’s Premier League action.
Fulham vs Arsenal (Sunday, 14:00)
Martin Odegaard being on the receiving end of a foul has been a common theme in this column of late and I make no apology for siding with the same selection when Arsenal make the short trip to Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners captain has drawn an average of one foul per-game across his seven Premier League appearances this season.
Not only has the Arsenal ace been fouled in each of his seven top-flight outings this term, he was also upended once during his one and only start in this season’s Champions League to date against Sporting Lisbon.
On top of that, Odegaard earned Norway no fewer than six free-kicks across his two Nations League appearances for his country back in September.
Thus, I’m more than happy to kick off the player-based double by backing Odegaard to reel in another set-piece for Arsenal on Sunday.
In direct opposition to Odegaard is likely to be compatriot and Fulham midfielder Sander Berge, who committed a foul and received a yellow card against Brighton on Thursday night.
Ipswich vs Bournemouth (Sunday, 14:00)
Moving on to the second leg of the double, I’m going to back Tyler Adams to commit a minimum of one foul when Ipswich take on Bournemouth at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon.
The USA international endured an injury-disrupted start to the season but he has cemented his position in Bournemouth's starting XI in recent weeks.
Adams has started each of Bournemouth's last four Premier League games, racking up a combined total of 10 fouls in the process.
A deeper dig shows the majority of those fouls have been committed over Adams’ last two top-flight outings, making four misdemeanours against Wolves last weekend and then five against Tottenham on Thursday night.
With that in mind, there is plenty of scope for the Cherries midfielder to overstep the mark at least once in Suffolk on Sunday afternoon.
Expect to see Adams involved in a fiery midfield battle with Ipswich skipper Sam Morsy, who is drawing an average of one foul per 90 in this season’s Premier League.
