AFTER much debate with myself I've chosen FC Honka as today's Super Single.
They've just pipped Roma and let's hope they don't play like FC Honkin' away to Jaro.
Honka sit second in the Finnish league, three points behind leaders HJK having played a game more, after successive 0-0 draws at MyPa and with RoPS.
The first wasn't a bad result against a side sitting third while as I've said in my piece on the top treble RoPS are going well. Honka, by all accounts, missed several chances and looked rusty after the international break so hopefully they'll be back on fire tonight.
They need the points and will be cheered by the fact Jaro have won just one in nine since thumping Lahti 7-1 at home and lost their last home match 5-1 to HJK.
That's the kind of result Honka would love but any win will do and a side that's lost just one in 12 – at basement boys JJK – should prevail. Honka are a best 13-10 with William Hill.
Roma were my next choice. They have started with two wins to nil despite losing players such as Pablo Osvaldo, Marquinhos and Erik Lamela. Parma have just one point and one goal – from star signing Antonio Cassano – but already Roberto Donadoni is feeling the heat and one point from nine would be a disaster.
Roma have won on three of their last five visits to Parma and must have a chance here. They are a biggest 6-4 at William Hill and Coral.

Fix it I am a regular follower of the SS and have been meaning to ask this question for a while.
Was just wondering at what stage you would advise not backing the SS. my point with this is that at times after you have tipped a team the odds can sometimes drop quite significantly. In the case of Honka you are now struggling to get evens however you have picked them as clearly you think they are a good back at 13/10 but at evens would you still say they are worth backing. I appreciate that your tips are always based on a number of factors but assuming that one of these is on the odds and valus of the odds then would you therefore say at times it the odds of your tips drops say 10% or more then to leave it alone.

Neil H, that’s a tough one to answer. Obviously you want to get the best price but if they’re cut and you don’t take them you are getting nothing.
Thanks for your input Mr F I know its tricky as if they drop and dont take them and they win then will be kicking myself but I guess if they are cut drastically then there has to be apoint where not worth backing them at that price.
Neil H, there will be a point when you say the price isn’t value but only you can decide really. I’ve got to say more and more prices are being cut these days. Almost every time I put on a line they’re being cut and it’s not a good vibe.
That clearly shows the influence your having Fix it.Do you think that Bookies are cutting the odds as soon as they see you have tipped it or is it following your tip the amount of backing as a result naturally leads to a drop in odds. Taking Honka as an example that is a huge cut from 13/10 to evens.
Neil H, bookies don’t cut the odds when they see me tipping a team. Odds will only be cut when they see money on a side. I reckon Honka’s been slashed from a William Hill coupon price of 13-10 to evens because it was too big in the first place. If my selections go up and people back them then there is a chance of them being cut. It depends on how many people are reading here or in the Daily Record. I know that whatever golfer Steve Palmer tips in the Racing Post on a Wednesday will be cut almost immediately because of his popularity and success rate.

deano, form says Roma but aways in Italian football are nothing like bankers. So far happy I picked Honka ahead of Roma.
I lumped £50 on Honka and Roma which pays £223 and change.
If Honka hold on, is it worth hedging spread some money on Parma+draw at around 4/7 or 8/13? Would need to lump about £100 on to guarentee either a £5 profit if Roma let me down or £72 ish profit if Roma win.
Thoughts please.
Conor, only you can decide to be honest. It depends how much you want to win and how confident you are about Roma. You of course will have inplay options especially if Roma take the lead.

Was thinking about spreading on the draw for better odds hence lowering my outlay. Just like the feeling of a guarantee even if its a few quid. Either way if roma win id feel gutted of I spread but not as gutted as if I didnt. Will waot til before kick off and monitor the odds movements

Conor, it was a good night for me even though the treble went down. I had Honka, Roma and the draw at Swansea as singles, doubles and trebles and a couple of other lines up that paid well. Me and the dog walked a good distance to my nearest Paddy Power shop yesterday and we’ll back in to collect a tidy sum tomorrow.

If time allows I’ll put up articles on individual games, especially big TV matches, but it’s just as important to spend time checking out stats and form than doing write-ups. I’ve posted a big Champions League review but spent a couple of hours this afternoon putting that together because I know how much interest is in the ties.
