THE transfer window is shut and the World Cup qualifiers have passed but it may take a couple of weeks for the big guns to settle into a rhythm.
It's been a stop-start season and although Paris St Germain spent early – and massively at £100million – they've not hit top gear yet with two draws followed by two battling wins against Guingamp and Nantes.
Tonight they travel to a Bordeaux side who have made a worse start with just four points from four games after a Super Cup curtain-raiser in which they went down 2-1 to PSG.
Unlike their visitors Bordeaux haven't splashed the cash and have in fact lost the likes of Benoit Tremoulinas, Anthony Modeste and Jaroslav Plasil.
PSG may at times flatter to deceive but they are unbeaten in 15 matches going back to March and have won their last two against Bordeaux. They were one of only three sides to win in Bordeaux last season and already Monaco have won there this time round.
The champions are without injured duo Jeremy Menez and Javier Pastore but £25m new boy Brazilian defender Marquinhos could make his debut.
If the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored Sweden's winner in Kazahkstan on Tuesday, and Edinson Cavani – who netted for Uruguay against Colombia – have recovered from the rigours of international football and the travelling involved they should win and I'm taking them for the Super Single at 1-1 with BetVictor and Coral.
Titanbet are 10-11 and I see shorter in other places. I'd play this for small stakes simply because there must be doubts over the sharpness of Ibrahimovic and Cavani but both will be in good spirits mentally if not physically after their vital strikes.
Other sides I considered were Scunthorpe at Southend in League Two while on the site people have been pointing out the value in Dordrecht at Helmond so that's two alternatives for anyone who doesn't fancy PSG.
Super Single
PSG (7.30pm)
(11-10, BetVictor, Coral)
How must these poor PSG fans feel dragging themselves along on a wet Friday night to watch your team being led with a forward line of Ibrahimivic and Cavani!!?
raaljaca, and having to endure a bottle of Bordeaux too!
They will never know the delights of a Pie and a Bovril! At least we can find comfort in the fact that fans of PSG, Monaco, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund etc can round off their weekends, via the wonders of satelite tv, glued to the telly watching Sportscene.
Super single…
BURNLEY WIN 5/4@bet365
Four homes for Saturday, QPR, MK Dons, Rotherham and Peterhead pays 9/1
Both to score Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Bristol City and Fleetwood pays 10/1 at Corals
As an AFCB fan, I don’t see tomorrow’s match going BTTS personally. Blackpool have the best defence in the league and we’ve been anything but rampant at home even though we’re unbeaten at present. I’d advise small stakes on that if I were you.
just placed my £5 free bet club bet on PSG, Rotherham, Arsenal, ICT all to score 2+ & Man utd to score in both halves. £5 returns £135.31
