Ryder Cup day three tips

The final day of the 2025 Ryder Cup is here, and after sheer European domination over the opening two days, just 2.5 more points are needed to keep the cup in Europe.

Coming into the final day, Team USA trails by 11.5 points to 4.5, and if they do somehow turn things around from here and win, it would be the biggest Ryder Cup comeback of all time.

Are there any signs that the Americans have such a performance in them, or will Sunday be more of a lap of honour for Luke Donald and his team? Check out our Ryder Cup day two tips below.

Cameron Young to beat Justin Rose – 5/6

Cameron Young has been one of a few Americans who have done themselves justice this week, and I'm backing the debutant to give the USA some hope by winning the opening singles match on Sunday over Justin Rose.

Young has won two of his three matches so far, playing a leading role in all three of his outings. Keegan Bradley will perhaps be rueing his decision not to play Young in all four sessions, considering he is their top points scorer.

While Justin Rose has won both of his fourballs matches, he has leaned heavily on Tommy Fleetwood in both. Rose deserves credit, particularly for holing out on the 18th on day one and for nailing a big putt yesterday when Bryson DeChambeau's caddy walked in his line when the Brit was lining up his putt.

However, without the Fleetwood insurance policy in play, Rose could get swallowed up by Young.

Rory McIlroy to beat Scottie Scheffler – 20/21

Rory McIlroy has suffered horrendous abuse all week from American supporters, so it was no surprise to see him snap yesterday. The reassuring thing about the moment when he told an American fan to ‘shut the f up' was that he hit an iron shot to 4-feet of the hole immediately after, demonstrating that the crowd are only fueling him to play better.

The Masters champion is up against Scottie Scheffler on Sunday, and although Scheffler is the world number one, he has suffered badly this week.

While playing on his own could see Scheffler return to his best form on Sunday, he looks very much like a man who wants the tournament to end. The opposite can be said of McIlroy, who has been on a tear all weekend and would love to get one over on Scheffler.

Tommy Fleetwood to beat Justin Thomas – 5/7

While McIlroy has been ferocious all week, Tommy Fleetwood has been Europe's best player. The Englishman has won all four of his matches, two with McIlroy and two with Rose, and was arguably the best player in all four of those matches.

Fleetwood's game has gone to a whole new level since he won the Tour Championship last month, and he has strutted around Bethpage Black like the winner that he now is.

Next season could be a huge one for Fleetwood and major victories should certainly be within his reach if he can continue playing like he has done over the past couple of months.
