Ryder Cup day one tips

The stage is set for the 2025 Ryder Cup, and thanks to an intense build-up, it feels like one of the most hotly anticipated editions of the event in living memory.

The best golfers from Europe and the USA will go head-to-head over three days of sporting action at Bethpage Black in New York this weekend, and there is plenty of needle in there.

The pre-tournament build-up has focused predominantly on the fact that the US team are now paid for taking part in the Ryder Cup. As far as Luke Donald and Team Europe are concerned, however, this isn't a week to be paid.

The day one pairings for the morning foursomes have now been announced, and the countdown to that first tee-shot is well and truly on. Check out our Ryder Cup day one betting tips below.

Ryder Cup day one golf betting tips

Rahm/Hatton to beat DeChambeau/Thomas EW – 11/10

The very first match of this year's Ryder Cup will see Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas take on Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton. Getting out of the blocks quickly will be key, so it's no surprise to see Keegan Bradley pick two of his passionate players to go out there first.

Luke Donald has elected to fight fire with fire, with neither Rahm nor Hatton considered a shrinking violet. However, the two buddies make for an excellent team as can be seen by their Ryder Cup history.

In three previous matches played with one and other, the Rahm/Hatton combo is undefeated with two victories and one draw. Are they really going to surrender that unbeaten record against two players who have combined for just two wins in seven foursome outings?

Cantlay/Schauffele to beat Hovland/Macintyre EW – 5/6

As far as reliability is concerned, Keegan Bradley will have zero concerns about the combination of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, and we should anticipate the duo being paired together for at least three of the four matches on Thursday and Friday.

The two best buddies seem to complement each other perfectly in team golf, particularly on US soil. They have never lost a foursomes match in the USA, across both the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup.

Viktor Hovland's form over the past season has been iffy, at best, and it is a slight surprise to see him selected as one of the first eight players to go out onto Bethpage Black by Team Europe. Bob Macintyre will likely have to hold things together at times, and that could be a big ask for a player competing in his first away Ryder Cup.

McIlroy/Fleetwood to beat Morikawa/English  – 8/11

At 8/11 with some top golf betting sites, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood to beat Collin Morikawa and Harris English should be considered an absolute steal.

The two Europeans played together in both foursome sessions in Rome two years ago and were excellent as they won both of them with relative ease. Fleetwood, in particular, boasts a formidable overall foursomes record, winning all four of his previous outings in this format.

What's more, Fleetwood and McIlroy come into this event on the back of their best-ever personal season. McIlroy won the career slam earlier in the year when he won the Masters, while Fleetwood finally recorded his first-ever win on the PGA Tour at the Tour Championship.

This one could even be worth adding a handicap to.
