Watford vs Liverpool

, KO: 17:30 Feb 29, 2020, Vicarage Road
Liverpool

LIVERPOOL stand just four wins from the Premier League title and will be confident of ticking one of them off the list when they visit Watford.

By their incredibly high standards, Jurgen Klopp's side have been out of sorts in the last few games, squeezing out wins over struggling Norwich and West Ham either side of a Champions League defeat by Atletico Madrid.

But their march to a first league title since 1990 continues to break new ground, with Liverpool still dropping just two points all season.

They almost shipped some more when the Hammers came calling, with David Moyes' side taking a 2-1 lead, but the Reds still found a way to chalk up yet another victory.

Now they face another team fighting for their lives at the foot of the table as Watford seek a massive three points in their quest for survival.

It looked like the Hornets would soar clear of the drop zone after Nigel Pearson's arrival as boss, with Liverpool inflicting the only defeat of his first eight games in the hotseat.

But Pearson's side have now gone six games without a victory, leaving them second bottom of the table, and need to rediscover some momentum.

How the bookies view it

Watford are rank outsiders at 7/1 with Bet365 while Liverpool are a best 9/20 at Marathonbet and the draw is 4/1 with Betway. Given Liverpool's displays of late, and their looming FA Cup clash at Chelsea in midweek, I wouldn't rule out a stalemate at that price.

But Klopp's side still seem to come out on top even when they're out of sorts. A Reds win to nil, which has come up in their last four games with Watford, pays 6/4 at Marathonbet. I'm also tempted to go for draw half-time/Liverpool full-time which is  7/2 at BetVictor.

Head to head

Liverpool claimed a 2-0 win at Anfield earlier this season in Pearson's first game at the Watford helm, although the Hornets emerged with plenty of credit for their display.

The Reds won 3-0 at Vicarage Road last season (below) and are unbeaten on their last three visits. Watford's last win over them was a 3-0 home triumph five years ago, with Odion Ighalo hitting a double.

Players to watch

Mo Salah has an incredible record against the Hornets and has netted against them eight times. That haul included a four-goal masterclass at Anfield two years ago so it's no surprise to see the Egyptian leading the anytime scorer market at evens with Unibet.

He netted both goals in the 2-0 win over Watford earlier this season and Salah is 9/2 with William Hill to net a double or more here.

Salah (below) let me down when I flagged him up for a goal against Atletico Madrid but I've a feeling he will deliver here.

The goals have dried up for the Hornets, netting just five times in their last six games, but Gerard Deulofeu remains a class act and looks overpriced at 5/1 for a goal with Betway.

Anything else catch the eye?

Both teams boast players who can score from distance and Trent Alexander-Arnold fired home a free-kick at Vicarage Road last season. That lends value to the 29/20 William Hill are offering on a goal being scored from outside the area.

I cashed in at 5/1 on Andy Robertson being carded when he was up against flying Wolves winger Adama Traore at Molineux earlier in the season.

The Scot is likely to face another speed merchant here in the shape of Ismaila Sar so Bet365 may live to regret pricing him at 9/1 for another card.
