Uruguay vs Venezuela

, KO: 00:00 , Estadio Centenario
Venezuela

Uruguay and Venezuela will square off in a crunch clash in World Cup qualifying at the Estadio Centenario on Tuesday night.

The two nations are currently separated by just two places and three points in the South American standings.

Marcelo Bielsa's men will come into this match off the back of a 2-0 defeat away at Paraguay last time out.

What’s more, that loss means the Sky Blue are now without a win in each of their last four World Cup qualifiers.

As for Venezuela, they have given their own qualification hopes a major shot in the arm thanks to back-to-back wins over both Peru and Bolivia respectively, much to the delight of the Betting Desk.

In fact, if results go their way this midweek, the Red Wine could move into the all-important top-six places in the table in their quest to qualify for next year’s showpiece.

How the bookies view it: Sky Blue to get back on track

Despite failing to win each of their last four World Cup qualifiers, Uruguay are short-priced 4/9 favourites with Boylesports.

Venezuela are as big as 13/2 on Boylesports to emerge from this contest victorious, while a share of the Estadio Centenario spoils has been chalked up at 14/5 with the same firm.

Head to head: Another stalemate in store?

Three of the last four meetings between the pair have ended all square, including the reverse fixture during the current qualifying campaign which ended 0-0. Another goalless affair on Tuesday night can be backed at 6/1 on Boylesports.

Players to watch: Ugarte’s card marked?

Having already racked up three yellow cards across his seven appearances in the current world cup qualifying campaign, Manuel Ugarte looks overpriced to pick up another booking here at 4/5 on Bet 365.

After making the net bulge against Bolivia last time out, Salomon Rondon stands out to hit the target at least once on Tuesday night at 5/6 on Bet 365.

Predicted line-ups

Uruguay manager Bielsa will once again be unable to call upon the services of Federico Valverde, who is set to jet out to the World Club Cup with Real Madrid.

Venezuela boss Fernando Batista could stick with the same set of players that got the better of Bolivia at the weekend.

Uruguay: Rochet; Nandez, R Araujo, Gimenez, Olivera; De la Cruz,Ugarte, De Arrascaeta; Pellistri, Nunez, M Araujo

Venezuela: Romo; Gonzalez, Ferraresi, Angel, Aramburu; Savarino, Herrera, Casseres, Soteldo; Josef Martinez, Rondon

Anything else catch the eye?

The 5/6 in Bet 365’s Goal Range market for this clash to feature either one or two goals looks worthy of interest in what could be a tight and cagey affair.

This bet would have paid out in three of Uruguay’s last four World Cup qualifying matches.

The same selection would have also proven profitable in four of Venezuela's last four qualifiers, and that only adds to the appeal of supporting another low-scoring contest.
