Ross County vs Queen of the South

, KO: 19:05 Apr 26, 2019, Global Energy Stadium
Queen of the South

ROSS COUNTY'S Championship champagne has been on ice for so long that there's a risk of frostbite when the bubbly is finally broken out.

A title party has been on the cards for the last few weeks but it has yet to come to pass thanks to a combination of County's own results and the refusal of Dundee United to give up the ghost.

The Staggies all but sealed the crown last week with a 3-1 win at Ayr that left them six points clear with two games to go.

Their goal difference is also 18 better than United's so it would take a monumental collapse in the final two games to deny them automatic promotion.

Chairman Roy MacGregor has already taken the title for granted, hailing co-gaffers Stuart Kettlewell and Stevie Ferguson for taking them straight back up after last year's relegation.

But the title won't be officially theirs until they nick another point and County should finish the job at home to struggling Queen of the South in front of the BBC Scotland cameras.

The bookies fancy them to finish the job with a victory as County are a best 4/6 with Betfred and Queens 4/1 outsiders. The draw might tempt a few punters at 11/4 with Bet365 but it's hard to see past a comfortable Staggies win and that bubbly finally being taken out of cold storage.

Queens have been on a dismal run and lack punch up front in the absence of 40-goal Stephen Dobbie who remains sidelined with injury.

They ended a four-game winless run with a 2-1 home win over Dunfermline that boosted the Doonhamers' chances of avoiding relegation.

But they remain just three points above rock-bottom Falkirk so the threat of the drop remains real, especially if they crash against the champions-elect here.

It's just two wins in 13 games in all competitions for Gary Naysmith's side and they've drawn a blank on their last two road trips against Ayr and Alloa. That makes a County win with a clean sheet appealing here and it's a best 9/5 with Bet Victor.

The Staggies haven't been scoring freely at home, netting just twice in their last three games against Dundee United, Dunfermline and Partick.

But they did smack home three on the road at Ayr last time out and that suggests their title jitters are over. I fancy them to get a few goals here so try over 2.5 County goals at 12/5 with Unibet.

Brian Graham netted a hat-trick at Somerset Park and will go into this game in high spirits. He's a good option to break the deadlock at 9/2 with Bet365 and is 11/8 with the same firm to score at any time.
