Rangers will look to build on their European success on Thursday night as they welcome relegation-threatened Ross County to Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
It was another memorable European night at Ibrox on Thursday night, as they defeated Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise 2-1, which saw them squeeze into the top eight and qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League.
Phillipe Clement’s side also progressed to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup with a routine win over Highland League side Fraserbrough, and have also won each of their previous three Premiership matches, including a rare away win last week against Dundee United.
Meanwhile, Ross County secured a late point at home to Hibs last weekend, meaning Don Cowie’s side have lost just one of their past six Premiership matches (W3-D2-L1), with that coming in a 1-4 defeat at home to champions Celtic.
After going winless for an incredible 25 Premiership matches on the road, Don Cowie’s visitors have remarkably won each of ended last three at Dundee, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.
How the bookies view it: Gers clear favourites
Unsurprisingly, The Gers are clear favourites to make it 12 wins from 13 in the Premiership at home, as they are just 1/7 at BoyleSports to claim all three points.
Ross County are priced at 14/1 to claim a shock victory, whilst the draw is trading at 13/2.
Head to head: Rangers dominance of late
Rangers tend to dominate this fixture and have won both meetings this season, scoring nine goals and conceding none.
Players to watch: Cerny to continue to score at Ibrox
Czechia winger Vaclav Cerny has scored 10 goals in his past 12 appearances at Ibrox, including the winner over USG in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Irish striker Ronan Hale is County’s leading scorer with six in the Premiership this campaign, including the late leveller from the spot against Hibs last week.
Probable line-ups
John Souttar made a welcome return from the bench in Europe on Thursday night, but Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Dujon Sterling, Oscar Cortes and Danilo in the treatment room.
Ross County will be without Ryan Leak, Will Nightingale, Alex Samuel, Jack Grieves and Michee Efete.
Rangers: Butland, Tavernier, Propper, Souttar, Jefte, Raskin, Diomande, Hagi, Cerny, Igamane, Dessers
Ross County: Amissah, Tomkinson, Campbell, Wright, Brown, Nisbet, Randall, Ashworth, Chilvers, Hale, White
Anything else catch the eye?
Whilst Rangers have struggled on their travels domestically this season, they have been near faultless at home – winning 11 of their 12 Premiership contests in front of their supporters – and despite Ross County winning each of their last three road trips, they should be too strong for The Staggies.
Phillipe Clement’s hosts have conceded just four goals at home in the Premiership all season – as well as keeping clean sheets in both victories against County this season – and I’m happy to back a Rangers Win to Nil here.
Cyriel Dessers has come in from the cold in recent weeks, scoring six goals in his last five matches, and I also like the look of him to continue his good form in front of goal.
