Norwich vs ChelseaEnglish Premier League, KO: 12:30 Aug 24, 2019, Carrow Road
THIS is one of the most intriguing games of the Premier League weekend as Frank Lampard seeks that elusive first win as Chelsea boss.
Norwich were viewed as whipping boys heading into the new campaign after a frugal summer in the transfer market and that image was reinforced when they shipped four first-half goals in their opening game at Anfield.
But Teemu Pukki scored an excellent goal after the break to ‘win' the second half against Liverpool then the Finn's stunning hat-trick sealed a deserved 3-1 win over Newcastle in their next game at Carrow Road.
So the Canaries will be flying as they prepare to welcome a Chelsea side who have failed to convince under new boss Lampard.
The Blues played well in the Super Cup shoot-out defeat to Liverpool then impressed again in the first half at home to Leicester last weekend, taking the lead through youngster Mason Mount.
But the Foxes bossed the second half at Stamford Bridge and should have emerged with more than a 1-1 draw as Chelsea's frailties in defence were exposed again.
I tipped both teams to score in that match as well as over 2.5 goals and both would have come up had Jamie Vardy and James Maddison been sharper with their finishing. Both teams to score looks the best shout again for this one but it's sadly just 4/7 with Bet365. To boost the odds try doubling it with that first Lampard victory at 23/10 with Paddy Power.
Lampard's backline seems to be having real problems against speedy attacks and Norwich looked full of vigour and pace as they demolished a poor Newcastle side.
Pukki deservedly hogged the headlines at the weekend and is defying those who doubted he would be able to hurt Premiership defences, myself included.
But his heroics against Newcastle have alerted the bookies and the former Celtic flop is a best 7/4 with Unibet for anytime scorer.
I was also impressed with young winger Todd Cantwell against Newcastle and he could get some joy against the Blues. The 21-year-old isn't a prolific scorer, netting just once last season against Rotherham, but could chip in with an assist. He's as big as 15/2 with Unibet in the anytime scorer market and the bookies have yet to offer any odds on an assist, although William Hill are set to price it up on Friday.
For a Chelsea scorer, try former Barcelona winger Pedro. He looked pretty dangerous against Leicester and is 23/10 with Paddy Power to net at any time here.
Norwich have been well disciplined under Daniel Farke and rarely pick up more than a couple of yellow cards. Chelsea aren't renowned for putting the boot in either so try under 3.5 cards at 5/6 with Bet365.
