Los Angeles Galaxy vs FC Dallas

, KO: 03:30 May 30, 2024, Dignity Health Sports Park
FC Dallas

LOS ANGELES GALAXY will be looking to crank up the pressure on the Western Conference frontrunners as they host FC Dallas in an MLS clash on Thursday. Both teams have looked solid lately but Galaxy often do their best work at home and should have the upper hand here.

Sitting third in the Western Conference, four points off the pace, LA Galaxy will be looking to close the gap on the leaders. Greg Vanney’s men are unbeaten in their last five matches, although four of those fixtures have been draws.

LA Galaxy triumphed 2-1 over Houston Dynamo in their previous MLS fixture with Gabriel Pec and Riqui Puig getting their goals. That was their third win in their last five matches at Dignity Health Sports Park, while they are without a clean sheet in their last 10 MLS home matches.

FC Dallas have also been in good form lately and are unbeaten in their last five matches. They have claimed three wins in that run, but were held to a 3-3 draw last time out, throwing away a three-goal lead.

A problem for FC Dallas is that they often struggle on their travels having failed to win their last eight MLS away matches. Nico Estevez’s men have suffered six defeats in that run but were held to a 1-1 draw by Houston Dynamo in their previous fixture on the road.

How the bookies view it: Dallas fall short

LA Galaxy have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced 8/15 by bet365 to claim the win. A victory for FC Dallas is valued at 21/4 while a draw is set at odds of 29/10.

Head to head: Dallas with recent edge

FC Dallas have the upper hand in recent meetings and are unbeaten in the last six matches, claiming five wins in that run. They also ran out 4-1 winners in the last fixture back in October.

Players to watch: Joveljic on the money

Dejan Joveljic has led the line well for LA Galaxy this season, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances so far. The striker could be worth keeping an eye to score anytime at 6/5 with bet365.

FC Dallas will look to Petar Musa, who has five MLS goals this season. Four of these goals have come in the last six matches and the striker could be backed to score on Thursday at 11/4 by bet365.

Probable line-ups

John Paintsil remains the only player sidelined for LA Galaxy, who have an otherwise fully fit squad to choose from. With Jesus Ferreira still out injured, Petar Musa should continue in attack for FC Dallas.

LA Galaxy: McCarthy, Aude, Caceres, Yoshida, Yamade, Riqui Puig, Brugman, Delgado, Fagundez, Gabriel Pec, Joveljic
FC Dallas: Paes, Junqua, Tafari, Ibeagha, Farfan, Illaramendi, Fraser, Twumasi, Delgado, Arriola, Musa

Anything else catch the eye

FC Dallas served up a six-goal thriller last time out and could be set for another high-scoring encounter on Thursday. Over 4.5 goals is priced at 3/1 by bet365, who is also offering odds of 5/4 for over 3.5 goals.

LA Galaxy are priced at minimal odds for a straight victory, so a win and both teams to score could be considered at 15/8 with bet365.
