PSG will be looking to get an early advantage over one of their title rivals as they travel to Lille in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
Only two teams have won the French Ligue 1 title in the last five years with Lille winning one to PSG's four. However, a poor campaign last season saw them relinquish the title to the Parisians and eventually finish 10th.
Lille look a different side this season under manager Paulo Fonseca and are unbeaten after two matches. They were held to a 1-1 draw at Nantes in their previous Ligue 1 fixture with Ismaily’s effort midway through the second half earning them a share of the spoils.
Lille’s title charge two years ago was built on a solid home record which was absent as they struggled last season. They appear to have put that behind them this term, earning a 4-1 home victory over Auxerre in their opening fixture.
New PSG coach, Christophe Galtier was the man in charge when Lille won the Ligue 1 title two years ago. Lille struggled to cope with the gaffer’s departure, leading to their weak title defence last season.
The manager who is now at the helm at PSG and will be targeting another title run in the French capital. Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are all looking sharp at the moment, although there are some reports of a rift in the squad which Galtier will be keen to douse.
On the pitch, however, things appear to be going well for PSG, who have been comfortable in their three competitive matches so far. They claimed a 5-2 victory over Montpellier last time out, following a 5-0 triumph at Clermont in their opening fixture and a 4-0 win over Nantes in the Trophee des Champions.
