Genk vs NapoliUEFA Champions League, KO: 17:55 Oct 2, 2019, Cristal Arena
THESE sides couldn't have had more contrasting fortunes on matchday one of the Champions League.
While Napoli were cutting the European champions down to size with a 2-0 win over Liverpool, Genk were ripped apart in Austria as they crashed 6-2 against Salzburg.
So it's easy to see why the bookies make the Serie A side heavy favourites for the trip to Belgium, with Napoli a best 23/50 with Marathonbet and Genk 6/1 outsiders with most firms.
I got plenty of joy from Genk's collapse in Austria, with three of my tips coming up to make it a profitable night.
Red Bull striker Erling Braut Haaland was the torturer in chief, netting a stunning hat-trick to announce himself on Europe's biggest stage.
Genk just couldn't handle the Norwegian striker and were cut open time after time by Salzburg. They have now conceded 10 times in their last two European outings after losing 4-1 at home to Slavia Prague in their last Europa League outing.
Their defence seems to be just as bad in domestic football, with St Truiden scoring three times at the weekend in a 3-3 draw with Genk.
If they can wreak havoc then you can only imagine how much damage the likes of Dries Mertens, Hirving Lozano and Lorenzo Insigne can cause for Napoli.
Carlo Ancelotti's side have been in free-scoring form, netting seven times in just their first two Serie A games against Fiorentina and Juventus.
They also hit four at Lecce a few weeks ago and have drawn a blank just once, in a shock 1-0 loss at home to Cagliari. Napoli responded by beating Brescia 2-1 at the weekend so they travel in decent enough spirits.
While Genk have problems at the back, they remain a threat going forward, as illustrated by their two fine goals in Salzburg. They have scored in 30 of their last 31 European games while Napoli have kept just two clean sheets all season so both teams to score should come up here at 9/13 with RedZone.
A Genk defeat with both teams scoring came up for me in Salzburg so I will try a repeat here at 33/20 with Coral while over 3.5 goals also appeals at 123/120 with Marathonbet.
Mexican winger Hirving Lozano always impressed me in his days at PSV in Holland and his summer signing looked to be a coup for Napoli.
Lozano has taken time to settle, netting just once, and was left on the bench for the weekend win over Brescia. But I've a feeling Ancelotti was just keeping him fresh for Genk and he could be unleashed on the Belgians.
The winger's pace will cause problems for that poor Genk defence so he looks a good option for anytime scorer at 49/50 with 888Sport if Ancelotti starts him.
Tanzania striker Mbwana Aly Samatta scored a good goal in Salzburg and has a fine record of six strikes from nine appearances this season. That makes him the best shout for a Genk scorer at 49/20 with 888Sport.
This UEFA Champions League match between Genk and Napoli will be played on Oct 2, 2019 and kick off at 17:55
