RANGERS remain unbeaten after a storming start to the season and it would be a massive surprise if they crashed out of the Betfred League Cup to League One side Falkirk.
Gaffer Steven Gerrard is certain to make some changes after his team's gruelling shift in midweek when they drew 2-2 with Benfica in the Europa League, a match where my 9-2 booking bet came up.
But he now has a squad with strength in depth so they should have enough firepower to pass this test on an artificial pitch if they have the right attitude.
The Bairns have made a great start to the season themselves and sit top of League One after losing just once in all competitions so far this term.
However, that defeat came against Championship side Dunfermline in their League Cup group and they should come up short once more against a team from two divisions up.
How the bookies view it
Falkirk are 28/1 outsiders with William Hill to win in 90 minutes and 12/1 with the same firm to qualify. Even the draw is as big as 9/1 with Bet365 while the best price on a Gers win inside 90 minutes is 1/9 at Unibet.
A Rangers win to nil will be a popular bet but even that isn't great value at a best 1/2 with SportNation.
Recent head to head
Falkirk's recent home record against Gers is impressive, unbeaten in three with two of those games ending in wins. But those matches came when both clubs were in the Championship back in 2015/16.
The last meeting in Falkirk was a 3-2 win for the Bairns (below) but Gers eased to a 4-1 Scottish Cup win at Ibrox when these teams last faced off in 2018.
Players to watch
Gerrard (below) will probably rest a few big hitters, with the likes of Jermain Defoe, Ianis Hagi and Cedric Itten set to be handed starts. Defoe is always a good bet for a goal but doesn't offer great value at 8/13 with McBookie for anytime scorer. So I'm going for Romanian playmaker Hagi instead at 11/8 with the same firm.
Callumn Morrison has been hugely impressive for Falkirk since joining from Hearts. The winger is 13/2 for a goal and should be the biggest Bairns threat.
Anything else catch the eye?
Most people expect a comfortable win for Gers but the plastic pitch in Falkirk could help keep the score down. Gerrard's side drew a blank on Livingston's artificial surface and only scored once at Kilmarnock so it could pay to back the Bairns in the handicaps.
Falkirk plus three goals pays 5/6 at Betway and that could come up if Gerrard makes lots of changes.
McBookie are offering evens on Falkirk winning over 2.5 corners and that could be worth a punt as they have averaged 7.5 corners in their last two games.
The same firm also price the Bairns to have the most bookings at 4/6 and that looks a great option for accas as Rangers will dominate possession.
