Everton vs Wolves

, KO: 15:00 Feb 2, 2019, Goodison Park
Wolves

THE Premier League's two remaining Portuguese managers – axed Man United flop Jose Mourinho is no longer part of the gang – go head to head at Goodison amid contrasting fortunes.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo's stock could hardly be higher after a superb season in the Midlands club's first top-flight campaign for six years.

But countryman Marco Silva has struggled for consistency in his first season in charge of Everton after a big-money spending spree last summer.

Despite flattering to deceive at times the Toffees are sitting eighth, one place and two points behind Wolves, but Silva will need a better second half of the season to convince the board and fans he's worth keeping long term.

Last weekend's FA Cup exit at Championship strugglers Millwall heaped more pressure on Silva but his side responded well with a midweek league victory at Huddersfield – just the Toffees' third league away win in 13 attempts this season.

Everton's last home outing in the league was a much-needed 2-0 success over Bournemouth that stopped the rot after four games without a win on their own patch.

They can't afford another sub-standard display against a Wolves side who tend to thrive against the bigger clubs and have a lightning counter-attacking game.

Nuno's troops have suffered just three defeats – to Man City, Liverpool and Spurs – in nine meetings with top-eight sides. They are gunning for a third straight league win and also aiming to score 3+ for the third successive top-flight match for the first time since 1980.

They fought out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Everton at Molineux on the opening day and both to score again – which has landed in five of Wolves' last six away in the league – is an attractive proposition at 5-6 with Coral.

Another stalemate also appeals at 12-5 with Marathonbet between two sides similar in quality.

And for a more speculative punt, try Wolves midfielder Diogo Jota to add to his tally of two bookings in his last five league appearances with another card at 4-1 with bet365.
