Eintracht Frankfurt’s last few weeks have been unlike anything we’ve ever seen, with 33 combined goals across their last five fixtures. And after a horrible thrashing away in Madrid, the Eagles return to familiar settings to face Bayern Munich.
Want to be entertained? Turn on any Eintracht Frankfurt match this season and you’re guaranteed three, four, five or more goals. Every single fixture across all competitions this season featured a minimum of four goals, while 6/8 featured at least five.
Only three teams in Europe’s Top 5 leagues have outscored the Eagles (17) after five rounds – Bayern Munich (22), Porto (19), and Sporting (19). But the endless scoring has not been without consequences, as Eintracht have also conceded 13 goals across the same five Bundesliga fixtures. Dino Toppmoller has transformed Eintracht into something fascinating but we are not yet sure what it is exactly.
Meanwhile, the Bavarians extended their flawless run to nine wins in a row by dismantling Cyprus’ Pafos away from home. They look completely unbeatable right now and are favourites to win every competition. While we can never rule out the Eagles, Bayern Munich have scored 3+ goals in every single one of their fixtures this season apart from the Super Cup match.
How the bookies view it: Bayern to finally beat the Eagles away again
Just like every other match, Bayern Munich have an overwhelming betting advantage, although it’s been a while since we last saw them with 9/20 in the Bundesliga. Bookies are not ruling out Eintracht Frankfurt entirely and give them 21/4, while the draw is available at 17/4.
Recent head-to-head: Some of the best Bundesliga clashes last season
The last few H2Hs have been exactly what you’d expect – extreme scorelines, endless action, and occasional surprises when Eintracht took the better of Bayern Munich, like the 5-1 at home two years ago. But despite the recent successes on the home front, the Eagles trail in the all-time H2H record. This will be the 109th Bundesliga clash between the two teams, and Bayern Munich hold the edge with 59 wins to 25.
Players to watch: Any other records for Kane?
Another week, another record broken by Harry Kane. The Englishman is now the fastest player to reach 20 goal contributions in a season after beating Lionel Messi’s long-time record from 2011. He has been part of 20 of Bayern Munich’s 35 goals this season, and he will score against Eintracht Frankfurt too, but you decide if the 3/5 odds are worth a shot.
Alternatively, we will back Eintracht’s Can Yilmaz Uzun to score or assist against Bayern Munich. We know there will be action and the Turkish international scored or assisted in seven of his eight appearances this season. He only failed against Atletico Madrid mid-week.
Probable line-ups
Eintracht Frankfurt: Santos, Collins, Koch, Theate, Brown, Skhiri, Chaibi, Doan, Uzun, Knauff, Burkardt
Bayern Munich: Neuer, Boey, Upamecano, Tah, Laimer, Kimmich, Goretzka, Olise, Gnabry, Diaz, Kane
Anything else catch the eye?
Whether or not Bayern Munich win here is irrelevant, as we believe the odds are not worth it. But bookies are giving 3/4 for Over 3.5 goals and that’s massive. Every single one of Eintracht fixtures this season covered the line, while Bayern passed it in 8/9 fixtures. Three of the last four H2Hs also featured at least four goals.
We know there will be action and we expect Eintracht to be fully involved in the scoring process, and there are some fabulous odds for them to score more than once. It is a high-risk play but Bayern conceded in every single away game this season and the Eagles scored 2+ in every one of their matches at home.
