Blackpool vs QPR

, KO: 17:30 Nov 6, 2021, Bloomfield Road
QPR

Blackpool will look to maintain their recent good form at home when they host QPR in the English Championship on Saturday. QPR are pushing for a playoff place but are expected to find things difficult at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool saw a three-match winning run snapped by Stoke City in their midweek Championship fixture. They looked slightly off colour in a tight encounter and could only manage a single attempt on target on the way to suffering a 1-0 defeat.

Given the results in other midweek Championship fixtures, that defeat proved costly for Blackpool, who have now dropped from sixth to 10th on the table. However, having won their three previous matches, manager Neil Critchley will be confident of making a swift return to winning ways.

Although Blackpool have kept clean sheets in two of their last three matches, they are prone to the odd error at the back and often give away chances to the opposition.

QPR travel to Blackpool off the back of a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City last time out in the Championship. Andre Gray struck the only goal late in the first half as they held on for the win.

Mark Warburton’s men are currently challenging for a playoff spot and sit fifth on the table. However, they are often unpredictable and have claimed two wins and two defeats from their last five Championship matches.

QPR also have a poor record on their travels, suffering four defeats in their last five away matches in the Championship.

How the bookies view it

The bookies appear to be split on this one with a win for Blackpool priced at 23/12 by SBK while a QPR victory is valued at 8/5 by bet365. A draw is set at odds of 12/5 with Skybet.

Head to head

QPR have an 8-2 advantage with five draws from 15 previous matches against Blackpool. However, Blackpool claimed a 2-0 victory in the last meeting between both teams during the 2018 League Cup.

Players to watch

Blackpool have the twin attacking threats of Jerry Yates and Shayne Lavery, who have scored five goals each this season. Paddy Power has Yates at 21/10 to score anytime while Lavery is also priced at 21/10 by bet365 in the same market.

Lyndon Dykes failed to get on the score sheet against Cardiff City and could be worth keeping an eye on. The striker has six goals this season and is priced at 21/10 by Paddy Power to add to his tally on Saturday.

Anything else catch the eye?

There have been over 2.5 goals in six of QPR’s last seven matches and Saturday’s clash could be tipped to produce a similar outcome at 13/14 with SBK. Both teams could also be backed to score at 7/10 with William Hill.

Blackpool have opened the scoring in two of their last three Championship matches and can be backed to score first at 11/10 with Skybet.
