Aberdeen vs Livingston

, KO: 19:45 May 15, 2024, Pittodrie Stadium
Livingston

ABERDEEN welcome relegated Livingston to Pittodrie in the very definition of a meaningless end of season encounter on Wednesday night.

The Dons had to wait until Sunday for their weekend clash and produced arguably their best display of the season by walloping Hibs 4-0 at Easter Road.

It was a sensational display with some excellent football and terrific goals. They have now won all three of their bottom six matches – a glimmer of hope in an otherwise desperate season for them.

Livingston stunned St Johnstone with a real smash and grab success at home to pick up just their fifth win of the season. In truth, the Perth side should have been out of sight, but keeper Shamal George saved Livi from being blown away early on.

Livingston did at least show some spirit by coming back to score twice, but it's been a season to forget for David Martindale's men who now have to focus and rebuild for the Scottish Championship next season.

How the bookies view it: Dons good things

Aberdeen are huge favourites here at 11/20 with bet365. Livingston can be backed at 5/1 and the draw is 3/1 with the same firm.

Recent head to heads: Dons on top

The sides met on the first day of the season in West Lothian and it finished goalless, as it did at the same venue last month. The Dons won 2-1 at Pittodrie.

Livingston have lost on their last three visits to the north east.

Players to watch: Junior due a goal

Junior Hoilett was Neil Warnock's one and only signing for Aberdeen and he's been an excellent addition. He gets himself into some terrific positions and is due a goal soon. The Canadian international is 11/5 to score anytime.

Joel Nouble looked like he was going to be a big star a couple of seasons ago, but he's gone seriously off the boil and in fact, his goal at Motherwell the other week when Livingston's relegation was confirmed was his first league goal of the season incredibly for a striker. He is 11/2 to score anytime with bet365.

Probable line-ups:

Aberdeen have a clean bill of health for their final home game of the season Livingston are set to be without Shaun Donnellan, Jack Hamilton and James Penrice.

ABERDEEN: Roos, Devlin, MacDonald, Gartenmann, MacKenzie, McGrath, Barron, Clarkson, Polvara, Hoilett, Miovski.

LIVINGSTON: George, Brandon, Devlin, Nottingham, Montano, Sean Kelly, Stephen Kelly, Pittman, Anderson, Nouble, Yengi.

Anything else catch the eye? Dons to romp this

It's been a season to forget for both teams, but Aberdeen can at least give their fans some comfort with a win in the last game of the season at Pittodrie and they can win to nil at 13/8 with bet365, after keeping five clean sheets in a row in the league.

Don't be fooled by Livingston's win at the weekend, if Bojan Miovski was presented with the chances that Nicky Clark and co. missed for St Johnstone, they would have been out of sight.

Bet365 are offering 4/1 on Miovski to score first and Aberdeen to win which must have a real chance too.

It wouldn't be a huge shock if the Dons signed off at home with a win by a couple of goals at least and they are with backing -1 on the handicap at 8/5 with bet365.
