Top Football Tips

IT'S a big night in the Champions League with Man City and Man United among those in action.

I've posted a separate preview as well as posts on Lyon v Man City and Man Utd v Young Boys. There are posts of most of tonight's other games up from various contributors so cheers to everyone who has stepped up to the plate.

Leicester face Southampton in the EFL Cup and there is six Championship matches as well as full cards in League One and League Two so plenty to look at.

It's a week for the RFO and I've be studying stats and form before putting up tips.

My Champions League tips are reasoned on the post and I'm going with Man City, Juventus and Roma not to lose as a treble.

The Super Single is Norwich who have been fantastic in recent weeks. They hammered Swansea 4-1 away at the weekend to make it 12 goals in three games – they also hit four against Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday. Can make it four wins in a row at a Hull side who went down tamely at home to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

I've studying goals and have picked out a League One treble and remember to check out Desmond's midweek goals bets.

My focus has been on the Champions League so haven't had too much time for England but as well as Norwich teams I like are Leeds, Luton and Bury. Three games in Scotland but nothing much stands out except maybe both to score in the Scottish Cup replay between Peterhead and Morton.

Last night there was a lack of goals unless you were on Greg's Belgian and Dutch reserve picks so well done to him and anyone else who put up tips.

Remember to check out welovebetting for their latest tips and video chat.

Over and above my main bets I’ll be having a punt at overs in the 8 CL matches. McBookies match day special is 28+ goals @7/4 however I prefer o1.5mgls in all 8 @ 29/10. Each of the 8 reverse fixtures of tonight’s matches seen 2+ goals and 6/8 seen 3+ so I’ll have a punt at that at 46/1. The two that didn’t were Munich & Juventus who were involved in 2-0 wins away at Benfica and Valencia respectively but hoping for more on home soil

    All 8 CL games o1.5mgls – 29/10
    All 8 CL games o2.5mgls – 46/1

I’m travelling back to 🇮🇹 Seria C Group C and a match that sees a familiar name involved, Catania travel to a lowly Matera side. Just 5yrs ago Catania were finishing 8th and above Inter in Seria A and just missed out on Europa League qualification, the following season they were relegated but that was the least of their problems. The following summer they were subsequently found guilty of match fixing 5 games in the 14/15 Seria B season in a bid to avoid relegation which they did by winning 4 & drawing 1 of the 5 fixed games. However they were relegated and lost a lot of players. Struggled first season in Seria C but last year missed out last season on promotion in the play off semi finals on penalties while Matera were avoiding relegation in the other play offs. Matera have had their own problems too having folded twice in their 88yr history, the most recent of those resulted in a new club being formed 6yrs ago.

    Matera v Catania

The home side sit 3rd from bottom on 3 points, however they have an 8pt deduction but even then that would only lift them 1 place in the table. They’ve won 3/11, drawing 2 & losing 6. However those 3 wins came against teams in the bottom 7 which coincides with 2/3 clean sheets they’ve mustered in 11 games. Today’s opponents are far better quality.

Catania sit 4th after 11 games having won 6,drawn 3 & losing 2. On the road they’ve won 2,drawn 3 & lost 1. However 5/6 aways have been against sides in the top half of the league as it sits. The one bottom side they’ve faced is Paganese whom they beat 4-2. They’ve also beaten 2 of the top 3(Trapani & Rende) and drawn away at Juve Stabia the league leaders. Catania will be desperate for the points too stay on the coat tails of these 3 teams who occupy the promotion spots.

Main bet will be Catania to score 2+ at 11/8. Matera have scored in all 5 homes & Catania have conceded in 4/6 aways so O2.5gls in a Catania WIN pays 3/1 or 4/1 for Catania & BTTS

    Catania o1.5tgls – 6/4

    Low stakes higher odds

    Catania WIN & o2.5mgls – 3/1
    Catania o2.5 tgls – 9/2

    Preston North End vs Middlesbrough
Skybet Championship. Kick-Off: 7.45pm Tuesday 27th November. Live on Sky Sports Red Button

MIDDLESBROUGH (2nd in the league) travel to Deepdale to take on 16th place Preston.

Preston had a awful start to the season, only winning one game out of the first ten but since then Alex Neil’s side have won four and drawn four of the next eight which has taken them out of the relegation zone. They have been the most entertaining side recently scoring four goals in three of the last four home games and at home there games are averaging over four goals.

However, they face the best defence in the Championship in a Middlesbrough side that has only conceded nine goals in 18 outings. The only time they have concede more than one goal away from home was only the opening game of the season at Millwall (2-2).

Middlesbrough travelled to Preston in the EFL Cup 3rd Round and Preston led on two occasions before drawing 2-2 and finally going out on penalties 4-3. The Middlesbrough side that night included fringe players and academy players and will field a totally different side for the league game.

Tony Pulis will accept a same performance as they did on Friday night when winning at Brentford 2-1 when they showed good old North East grit.

I again expect another close game with Preston on the front foot from the start and Middlesbrough soaking up the pressure while trying to hit them on the break with the line being led by local lad Jordan Hugill.

On the head-to-head front it favours the visitors with seven wins and five draws out of the last 12. So Preston are up against it but are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment.

    Recommended bets

UEFA Youth League is always good for goals the trick is picking out the 1 or 2 games which will inevitably go under.

I like the look of Roma U19 vs Real Madrid U19 at 13:00. The home sides 4 games so far in this seasons tournament have produce 4,7,4 and 3 match goals with the Real Madrid kids providing 4,5,5 and 3 match goals.

The reverse fixture in Spain was a 3-1 win for Madrid.

    Lyon v Man City
    Lyon double chance at 2/1****
Been debating this one all morning and finally decided to take the bet on.Man City as we know are a great team there’s no disputing that fact,But imo what they don’t have is a great mentality. What i mean by that is if they have been beaten by a certain team then they hold a fear factor about the team that has beaten them and this is not a great trait when facing the opposition, now i might be wrong but City have never really shone at this level and probably that is all down to mentality,i don’t envisage they will get passed the last 16 but then that depends on the opposition of course. But for me it’s worth a punt as Lyon are strong at home and City are not the best when it comes to fear.

    • jjy1992 6 months ago

lyon have got a dangerous squad and if they can stick 2 past city at the ethiad they can stick 2 past them at home

    • Mr Fixit 6 months ago

I think Lyon caught them cold at the Etihad. It’s City for me – teams like that can’t have a fear factor although I know you’re going to say Liverpool.

    • maccathered 6 months ago

Nonsense,Wolves.if City don’t have a fear factor then why haven’t they come close to winning the champs league.Great domestically but European wise they ain’t got the heart and nouse to win it.

    • Mr Fixit 6 months ago

I think they’re almost ready now – winning the Champions League isn’t easy but from a neutral point of view I don’t think they lack heart.

    • maccathered 6 months ago

If they do go for the champions league then they will give up the premier league if teams are still within touching distance they won’t win both. The Champions league is their owners main ambition where as the Premier League is Liverpool’s main ambition.

    • sean ireland 6 months ago

Liverpools ambition is to win anything to be honest, aint easy living under the constant shadow of the giant that is MUFC.Feel a bit sorry for liverpool to be honest and id be well pleased if some year they could pick up a league cup trophy just to give them something to show any fans aged 30 or under.

    • maccathered 6 months ago

Haha at least we have ambition now,the board have proved that with the signings and bringing in Jurgen Klopp. If i were a yernited fan(from manchester as supporting Man Utd when your from Ireland really doesn’t count) then i would be very worried.Liverpool had a bid of 160 million euro rejected for Marco Ascensio last summer which has just come to light,The money they were going to spend on him will be spent this January so Liverpool can maintain their challenge for the second half of the season.Man Utd’s sole focus is to get enough points to finish in the Europa league places.

    • maccathered 6 months ago

I always thought Liverpool set the standards in English football after all we won the lot well before Man Utd ever did.

Hull City v Norwich (KO 7.45pm)

The Canaries are absolutely flying at the moment and come into this off the back of 6 consecutive wins which has propelled them to the top of the Championship

They’ve scored 4 goals in each of their last 3 matches against some pretty useful opposition and it’s easy to see why they will be strongly fancied tonight.

Finnish striker Puki has 8 goals in his last 9 and will be Norwich’s main threat as they travel up the coast to play a Hull side who are having a disaster season so far

They have been poor home and away but this is the championship on a Tuesday night. You often get strange results midweek in the English leagues and whilst I don’t see then winning this they are at home and are more than capable of scoring, escpecially given Norwich have conceded in 17 of their last 20 away matches in all competitions.

That coupled with Norwich’s scoring prowess of late, we should see goals here.

    Chesterfield v Bromley

Ok lets have a go again, 8 league draws in a row. If we draw tonight we will equal a record for games without a win but also complete our longest unbeaten run in 15 years!

Its absolutely terrible weather here in Derbyshire and I can’t see it being a good game. We love a 1-1 away (6 in a row) but we occasionally throw in a 0-0 at home (we drew 0-0 with Dover and havant at home who are also near the bottom of the table)

Bromley to be fair dont have much drawing form (3 2-2s this season) so I’m not as confident as Saturday but given our run its still worth a smaller stake. They’ve scored and conceeded generally with 30 for and 36 against in 21. Given this lets assume the 1-1 is more likely than the 0-0

Total bobbins from me at the minute and I’m skulking back over the rain-soaked Pennines for a shot at redemption in Lancashire…

    BURY VS. CHELTENHAM TOWN:

I ought to have gone for straight goals in out game at the weekend – we are now the divisions top scorers but just cannot our keep the sheets clean!

Without wheeling out the stats, our matches have seen some serious goal tallies as a result of our impressive forward play and slightly insecure approach to defending.

Could well be goals in this one again and I feel the best value lies in match goals – also of interest is the amount of red cards in our matches – a pissed wet through playing surface might add to the appeal!

Finally, Nicky Maynard…what can I say, if I don’t back him – he’s a cert to score! I said it’s only a matter of time at the weekend and he then
proceeded to prod an open goal onto the post from 2 yards…sums up my luck at the minute but that’s football.

One main selection and two smaller picks based on my above thoughts:

    OVRR 2.5 MGS…4/5
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

    NICKY MAYNARD ATGS…5/4
    (Betway)
    🌟🌟

    RED CARD…9/2
    (SkyBet)

    Best of luck!

    Evening gents

NAP is up and will be on the usual Skybet specials. In league 1 and 2

I like the look of the championship games tonight for goals and Bet365 are offering goal time markets in these games

Take out the Preston game and do the other 5 matches: Will appear inplay

    Goal before 10 mins (5 fold / 4 fold / trebles) 5 fold pays 1520/1

    Goal before 30 mins ( 5 fold)

    • discodale 6 months ago

Is your goal before the 30 mins the “early goal” market on bet 365 Greg?

    • GregBrowning 6 months ago

It’s not mate but you could use that. Markets are different times – some are 29 mins some 27 mins

Wait until 10 mins before a kick off and you’ll get the goal proper goal time markets inplay

    • interyernan 6 months ago

Lads you can get on the early goals for the championship games under the ‘minutes’ tab/section on each game. Its classed as a goal in first ten minutes.👍

They really are Macca – strange for us to be hitting so many goals…even in our rare good spells in the last 30 years, we’ve never scored numbers of goals so a refreshing change. What you get for having an attacking player as manager I suppose 😀

  75. scampi 6 months ago

    Draw 5/2 bet365
    1-1 bet 365 11/2 ✅
    BTTS 10/11 ✅

At some point this madness has to end!!

Some absolutely cracking winners on here tonight everyone, well done. I’ve had a great night other than watching Chesterfield play! But even then a nice set of betting winners with a late penalty

    • maccathered 6 months ago

      Brilliant mate.

    • maccathered 6 months ago

@scampi it’s worth checking the bookies for Chesterfield’s upcoming fixtures, with it being Christmas there might be two or 3 fixtures listed,if there is then a massive treble might be a good bet.Always thinking ar kid.

    • scampi 6 months ago

At the moment its entirely possible we could keep drawing! I’m not 100% sure if you can combine bets on the same team but if you could it would have a chance for a relatively small stake

Only problem we might have is that theres a lot of fan discontent around and maybe Martin Allen is running out of time (I’d say its his cautious approach that makes draws likely). Then again I think we are 13 unbeaten now, just 19 without a win in the league though!

    • maccathered 6 months ago

You can combine if there different fixtures.Christmas coming up always worth looking. The wins will come i’m sure mate. They are showing character by equallising if that makes sense.

    • Mr Fixit 6 months ago

You can combine if the games are priced up.

    • scampi 6 months ago

Ok that’s good then, one I’m hoping for a good price on is btts when we play Basford in the FA trophy. Basford have had a decent amount of money put into the club and are currently the highest scorers in the country.
