Top Football Tips

IT was decent day that was almost a great day as I moved back into profit on the accumulators.

Just over a week ago I was 20pts down and could easily be sitting today more than 20pts up.

My one winner was a 23-20 over 2.5 goals treble on games at Torino, Sassuolo and Inter while Molde beat my moneyback fivefold so the stake is returned as a free bet instead of a 10pts win.

I advised cashing out my 19-2 draws double late on with St Mirren v Dundee Utd and Charlton v Sunderland both locked at 1-1. I said I was about to hit the button and it was good to see several comments from people saying they did likewise before Charlton netted with the final kick of the game.

It was an 8-1 winner for me and 16pts profit but I don't include them in the stats which is a shame.

Last week I posted St Mirren to stay up as the Super Single and cheekily claimed victory after the first leg so no need to adjust figures after they beat Dundee United on penalties after their opponents missed all four of their kicks.

On Monday it's all about Aston Villa v Derby for a place in the Premiership in what's dubbed the richest game with up to £180m at stake at Wembley.

I fancy Villa but it would be daft to write off Frank Lampard's Derby and it's likely to be another tight and tense one. SlipsTips has posted a Villa vs Derby preview so check it out.

Tonight's other big game is the Bundesliga promotion/relegation play-off between Union Berlin and Stuttgart. It was 2-2 last week and there should be goals again.

Union Berlin are favoured to qualify thanks to a fine home record – just two defeats in 20 while Stuttgart are winless in 11 on the road. I'm tempted by the home but on a double I'm taking both to score and adding Hammarby draw no bet at home to Norrkoping.

Hammarby have lost just one in 10 in all competitions and at home this season have won four out of five and drawn the other. The sides are fairly evenly matched so Hammarby shouldn't lose and are unbeaten in 13 in front of their own fans.

Well done to all yesterday's winners and good luck today.

Remember to check welovebetting for their video chat and tips.

A bit late but here goes. Most of what has already been written between Villa and derby is true. Villa will fancy this one given the 7 goals over 2 league ties without reply. However, Derby hit form at just the right time and having been tested against some big sides and big games, Derby won’t be there just for a nice day out.
I have 3 concerns for Derby, stopping crosses from the wing where Villa scored 5 of 7 goals against us from the. With Cole likely to fill the left back slot, he’s gonna need plenty of red bull to keep up.
I also fear Grealish and Hourahan. Between them, they can pull the midfield strings. Stats suggest Abraham will be on the scoresheet, but stats also suggest this will be a low scoring affair.
Both sides have a goal threat in them and Derby have proven against the odds that they can turn up to big games. They don’t get any bigger than this.
BTTS is possibly an 8/10 probability. I can also see a plethora of cards, but even without VAR, I can still see a penalty and possibly a red card.
Villa will most likely dominate the corners count and Derby have not really played from them, but Derby need to limit them. We are awful at defending set pieces.
No news on Waghorns fitness but I anticipate Marriott being in the starting line up. He will cause havoc in the back line given half a chance.
My favourite bet in the playoffs is overs cards, overs 12 corners and favoured team to win and btts YES. I think the corners bit is the dodgy bit, so I’ll steer clear. Incidentally, in the 4x playoff semi’s , only Villas first playoff yielded a winning treble.
Both sides have the capability of beating each other and naturally, I have to fancy Derby. We’re not that confident we’ll do this but having seen how we can play as recently as the trip to Leeds, anything is possible.
It is a year for underdogs. Good luck everyone, please keep an eye out for team news, I won’t be able to post, but keep tabs on Waghorn and/or Marriott in the starting 11. With Marriott in that starting 11, Derby have a chance.
Very best of luck today guys and regardless of the result, I hope everyone gets to see this possibly memorable game. 3hrs 40 mins before my alarm clock buzzes. Best get some sleep.

    Morning gents,

Brief post with picks for this evening:

    ATLÉTICO VENEZUELA VS. CARABOBO (2100KO):

Not a game that would interest me if on-fire Carabobo were at home but H2H’s played at Atletico’s Caracas base make for interesting reading with the hosts scoring in 100% of the last 6 and both teams scoring in 5 of those 6!

    Both teams to score
    (5/6, paddypower) NAP

    BREIDABLIK / AUGN U19 VS. FH U19 (2100KO):

Every chance this one could see goals:

    Morning all,

All eyes will be on Wembley this afternoon and I’ve been having a look through most markets to see if I can find something for the game.

Looking at a safe bet, Harry Wilson to have a shot on target is 2/5 with skybet. Odds are very short however I’d expect this to sail in no bother. Wilson and his left foot will be a danger. Any free kick around edge of box and he will be eyeing this up.

Next bet I fancied was Mings to have a shot at 11/10. This is massive. For a centre half just to have a shot is crazy. Watching mings since his move from Bournemouth, he’s been very good for villa and was very impressive against West Brom. He has the ability to step out with the ball and he is very dangerous at corners and free kicks. This is one to look out for.

Last but not least, John McGinn has had a good first season at villa However has stacked up 14 yellows in the league this season. Skybet offering 11/5 for the centre midfielder to be booked. Considering his record, might be a punt worth taking.

    Recommended bets with SkyBet
    – Harry Wilson to have shot on target 2/5
    – Tyrone Mings to have a shot 11/10
    – John McGinn to be carded 11/5

    Good luck all!

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

McGinn’s a terrier. As you say every chance of a booking to match brother Stephen’s yellow in yesterday’s Scottish final.

    • rosscoleman94 5 years ago

@MrFixit. McGinn to be carded for 1pt as a super single for yourself? Must be some interest and he should play full 90. Chances are quite good in my opinion.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Might have a bet on it but it’s not the type of bet I look at for Super Singles.

    Union Berlin v Stuttgart – 7.30PM

Really do fancy the home side to go make it through. Union are a decent side at home and have a good scoring record. If they managed to score twice away at Stuttgart, they have a good chance of doing the same at home where they have the better form. Coupled with how shockingly bad Stuttgart have been on the road I think it’s good value. Stuttgart have only managed only 1 win in 17 consecutive away league games, and they’ve been leaky in doing so. – conceding at least 2 goals in the majority of those games. I can see this going BTTS & Over 2.5 MGls (21/20) but sticking with the home side to score twice just in case Stuttgart fail to score away from home again.

3 hrs of sleep and a 3hr standing train journey to London, followed by not a single Wembley employee outside the ground knowing anything about where the fan zone was. When the team news came up and Bennett chosen as our ” striker “, I felt deflated. I wasn’t the only one, everyone I met was saying it. Getting a wifi signal at Wembley was a joke.
We got there in plenty of time, neither team looked good value for a goal before halftime but Villa snook one in. Everyone thought Lampard would throw Marriott on and take off Bennett ( Bennett is not a striker ). The calamity of the 2nd goal was almost as embarrassing to concede as the Charlton playoff goal, but it was a sucker punch. It wasn’t until Derby had Waghorn and Marriott on that Derby looked dangerous. Jozefzoon also had lots of legs in him and it wasn’t long before Marriott got his goal. That last 20 minutes, it was all Derby, attack after attack. Marriott was tenacious getting in amongst the central defence and it panicked Villa. Their keeper should of been booked at least once for his blatant time keeping but you can’t blame them. Maybe if Marriott and Waghorn had the full 2nd half, the result would of been much different.
The cards sailed in, BTTS came in, and Marriott was key to Derby’s late attacking show. Too many Derby players had sub-par games, ( Wilson/Mount/Roos/Johnson/Bennett ), but Grealish, Hourahan and Abraham barely did anything between them.
We got out the stadium and headed back towards St Pancras to gauge the queues. What a complete nightmare. Wallace and Grommett could of organised better outgoing trains than the staff at St Pancras. We went out for a bit of fresh air figuring the queues would be a little less daunting.. WRONG. Twice as big. The railways finally decided to add coaches to the trains and they just wanted us out of the station whether you were on the right train or not. Sparse info on boards, staff not knowing anything and trains not displaying destinations. Somehow I spotted a flicker of a ” Derby ” sign light up for maybe a second on a train. the barriers came up and it was every man for himself. We both got on the train and took a tiny seat between us behind the rear driver compartment. We got back to Derby around 10.30pm. I’ve been home nearly 2 days and my body is in bits. We must of walked 8 miles. But if we have to do it again, we’ll go a few days before and leave a few days after.
The real sad thing is that the internet in Nottingham has finally started to work. We know this because every time Derby lose a game, they celebrate. Still if it gives them something to celebrate, it’s a celebration.
A lot of what happens with Derby is down to if Lampard stays at Derby. I think he will. If he does, he can get rid of lots of high earners and maybe find us a few more gems. PL teams are sniffing around Bogle, Tomori wants another season on loan at Derby, but Liverpool are trying to sell Wilson for £25 mill ( not happening ), and Mount is likely not to be back at Derby in 3 months time. A lot hinges on where Lampard will be come the 2019/2020 campaign.
We did better than we expected but a Wembley playoff defeat is still a defeat. Too many factors including team selection bit us in the bum but we’ll dust off and start again.
I’ll leave it a few days and share some info on possible/probable reasons why Marriott was left out in the cold this past 5 months. It is quite destructive to the team at a time when he should be fully focused.
Tiny bit of info, Middlesbrough are trying to sue Derby for selling the stadium to the owner ( cooking the books ), The sale was ok’d by the EFL before its sale, Derby have offered Middlesbrough a chance to look at our books ( they’ve declined ) and nobody mentions that Middlesbrough and other teams have done exactly the same. It is allowable by the EFL. Sour grapes?

    • nathanufton 5 years ago

Wembley scoreboard credited Marriott with the goal. After the match, the BBC credited Waghorn because it may of breezed past the hairs on his legs. Waghorn claimed the goal……. The dubious goals committee have rightly credited Marriott with the goal, so anyone with Marriott to score on a bet, get back in touch with your bookie.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Doesn’t work that way – some might pay out but probably won’t if they’ve already paid on Waghorn.
Neither the BBC or the dubious goals panel decide first scorer in terms of betting. PA are the arbiter and they gave it to Waghorn.
