IT turned out to be a Super Sunday of sport with dramatic finishes in the golf, tennis and cricket.
Bernd Wiesberger won the Scottish Open after an error-strewn three-hole play-off in North Berwick while Novk Djokovic made history by beating Roger Federer to win Wimbledon on a tiebreak.
And while I'm not a cricket fan it would be difficult to top the drama as England beat New Zealand to win the World Cup on boundaries after a Super Over draw.
I was working on the Daily Record sports desk last night and have hardly had time to catch breath.
On the football front Senegal and Algeria made the African Cup Nations final as I predicted but Senegal need extra time so my double was beaten but Scott's came up for his members bet.
It was a tougher day at the Scottish Open with only one of my twoball treble winning and thoughts now turn to The Open which starts at Portrush on Thursday and what an occasion that promises to be.

I don’t who you are or what team you support,taking City to win the league again when Vincent Kompany has left the team is a big ask,especially when Liverpool are going to be on them all season,Liverpool’s defence is solid City’s isn’t and when it comes to the big games can City’s defence without Kompany hold out,not imo and at this present time there isn’t a defender around that City can bring in and do as good as Job as Kompany,City’s run in Kompany played the last 15 games keeping plenty of clean sheets,taking City to win the league then you must have every faith in otamendi and Stones etc as your not going to see as many clean sheets with Kompany gone.Liverpool lost one game all last season and are more or less the finished article,when they play you pretty much know what your going to get and i must stress they did the league at a canter last season and made it look easy although they still finished a point behind.For me the value lies with Liverpool to clinch it as they will go all out to win it.I know i’m going to get red tinted specs here and all that but i do think Liverpool have the edge especially with Man City’s domestic fixtures being away from home after champions league ties.

Don’t know if anybody watched the Sheriff v Saburtalo 1st leg but the home side were hot favourite at 1/3 or therebouts and pretty sure a few on here fancied them so was surprised to see the away side triumph 3-0.
So I took a wee gander at the full game on YouTube earlier and it was no smash and grab effort. Georgian outfit Saburtalo edged the possession stats 53-47 and won the shot count 8-4. They play the ball out from the back and look too get it out wide as much as possible in the 4-3-3 they played. They scored twice from headers with a 30yd drive into the top corner sandwiched in-between. The away side will have to go for it and will leave gaps at the back that Saburtalo should expose like they did in the first leg.
Saburtalo have lost just 5 of their last 40 at home stretching back to Aug 2017,on the flip side Sheriff have won just 7 of 33 CL qualifiers away from home.

I think many will be drawn to goals in this game but with the appointment of Benitez he will make it a priority to solve his leaky defence and create a well organised outfit. I expect a reduction of goals in Dalians future fixtures with this man in charge though with today’s opponent it will be easier said than done with Rafa only coaching his players for a short period of time.
I monitor the Chinese league regular and Evergrande have picked up a ridiculous amount of cards in recent fixtures and these are games they have been Comfortably winning. 13 yellows in there last 3 games and 7 in there last league fixture. Dalian are a tough opponent and boast an array of attacking talent in Hamsik, Boateng and in particular Carrasco who I expect to draw a few fouls in this fixture
Carrasco getting fouled as predicted, not seen full 1st Half but should have been defo yellow in the 43rd min, one of the hosts slid right through the Belgian but nothing given. Getting zero luck at mo in regards to these card bets 🤬
If there was ever a time to say WTF in a game, this is it.
