Top Football Tips

THAT'S a frenetic Easter period over and although Monday wasn't a cracker the holiday weekend over was eggscellent.

My three-day winning run ended with two trebles being a goal out and my moneyback longshot was a 0.5pt loser.

I thought Derby were going to save the day but Norwich couldn't find a winner at Stoke and they'll be less bothered by that after Leeds' shocking loss at Brentford – and it could have been much worse than 2-0.

Derby's late show provided a winner on the members bet for Scott and Desmond made it three teams to score 2+ doubles up in the four days thanks to Derby and Bury.

Well done to all the winners on a day when there were always going to be some funny results after such a busy period.

There are just five games in the UK on Tuesday and I've picked out a treble that pays 2-1.

Spurs have seen Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United all slip up in recent days in the fight for the top four and must beat fourth-bottom battlers Brighton at home to move three clear in third.

The Londoners are beginning to feel the pace after reaching the Champions League semis and continue to be without Harry Kane. They are just 4-11 at Unibet to win but best bet could be Heung-Min Son to score. The South Korean's netted four in five to take his tally to 21 and is 6-5 at sportingbet to net again.

Kevinmac has posted a detailed Spurs vs Brighton preview and fancies Spurs to win to nil against a side that hasn't scored in six.

In League Luton can all but clinch promotion and move to within a whisker of the title by beating relegation-haunted Wimbledon at home. Stanley aren't safe yet but the Hatters, one defeat in 30, can twist the knife and are 1-2 with most bookies. Play-off contenders Doncaster should also win at home to lowly Accrington.

Take Spurs and Luton and here comes the tricky part – Partick Thistle not to lose at Ayr. And if anyone, especially if you live outside of Scotland, fancies Doncaster or even Leipzig then sub one of them for Thistle.

Gary Caldwell's men dragged themselves off the foot of the Championship with a comeback win against Alloa at the weekend.

Any of the bottom five sides can be relegated but Falkirk are 10-11 favourites at McBookie after losing at home to Morton and Thistle can climb five points above them by winning tonight”s game in hand against Ayr.

Ayr have clinched a promotion play-off spot and tonight's game means so much more to the Jags and while I'm tempted at  2-1 with Marathonbet a safer option is the Jags draw no bet at 23-20 with McBookie or not to lose at 7-10 with Marathonbet.

If you fancy a scorer look no further than ex-Celt Scott McDonald who has been superb since being tempted out of retirement with six goals in 11 games – any league game he's netted in Thistle haven't lost. The Aussie is 15-8 at McBookie to score.

Elsewhere there are three games in La Liga and Greg's favourite French Ligue 2 as well as Dutch top-tier matches.

For a Super Single I'm looking at the Hamburg v RB Leipzig German Cup semi-final. The difference it these sides' form couldn't be more contrasting and while Leipzig can go on accas at 1-2 I'm willing to take a chance on Leipzig -1 at 6-4 with Ladbrokes.

They'll be in the Champions League next season after a superb run of six wins and they've triumphed in their last eight away games – one after extra time.

Hamburg, meanwhile, are in danger of missing out on a return to the Bundesliga at the first attempt after a run of five games without a win. They've fallen six behind leaders Cologne in the title chase and are one ahead of Paderborn and two clear of Union Berlin in the fight for one more automatic promotion spot.

While a cup run is great they must be concerned about league form and surely their focus is on securing promotion. Leipzig have a 100 per cent record at Hamburg and have never conceded in their two visits.

I've also picked out a goals treble starting with btts at Watford v Southampton. Both sides have brought up this market in five out of six games and the last two meetings at Vicarage Road have finished 2-2 and 3-4.

Add Ajax v Vitesse, the riskiest of the three selections, and AZ v Heracles. Ajax should win this convincingly but overs is a short price. They have conceded in five of their last six and in four of six at home to Vitesse. The stat that convinced me to go with btts is Vitesse have netted in 19 of 20 league games.

Complete the treble at AZ where the last six meetings have gone over 3.5 goals with both scoring in four – three of them finishing 3-1. AZ's last four have brought up btts and it's five out of six for Heracles.

This treble is both to score but an over 2.5 goals treble at a shorter price is a viable option.

    Agree about Thistle Mr F

Look a big price and certainly have the players to get a result – tempted too by the 2-1

Rangers Reserves host Hamilton Reserves and there should be goals. They’ve been terrific recently and scoring plenty of goals, especially Middleton

Full French Ligue 2 card too – will put them up in the morning

I like the look of goals at relegation threatened Nancy as they welcome an Orleans side who are fighting for a playoff spot. Both sides recent matches have had goals at both ends of the park

Nancy are outside the relegation playoff spot on goal difference alone and are fighting tooth & nail too survive. Their last 8 games have produced 28 goals with Nancy contributing 16 of those. BTTS has landed in 5/8 with 5 also having seen 3+ goals….

    3-1,4-0,3-2,0-1,0-2,3-2,2-3,1-1

Orleans are one of the form sides of the league and their loss last time out at leaders Brest was their first defeat in 12. They sit 7th 3 points behind Lens who occupy the final playoff place in 5th. Their last 7 games have produced 28 goals with Orleans contributing 18 of those. BTTS landed in 6/7 & all 7 have seen 3+ goals…

    3-1,2-2,4-1,2-2,4-0,2-1,1-3

    4 of the last 5 H2H have seen 3+ goals….

    1-3,2-2,3-0,1-1,2-1

    O2.5mgls – 1/1

    Bigger odds worth a punt

    BTTS 1st half – 7/2

    Spurs v Brighton
    Under 2.5 goals at 11/10
I’m not a big fan of taking unders but one thing is for sure here Brighton are going to park the bus and make it difficult for the homeside.Only 3 points separate Brighton and Cardiff and you have to say Brighton have a tough run in they face Spurs,Newcastle,Arsenal and City so every point counts,i wouldn’t expect Brighton to be doing any attacking here their main focus will be keeping Spurs out and for that reason my bet is under 2.5 goals.Correct score 1-0
    Best of luck

Agree with macca about Brighton parking the bus . This could frustrate Spurs and lead to a niggly game
50 + booking points in the game 11/4
40 + booking points in the game 5/4
    20 + Spurs booking points 11/8
Brighton have been well behaved the last few games and their mask is due to slip.

    Man Utd v Man City
Man City to win -1.5 asian handicap at 2.250 (NAP)********
It’s a big game this one for the visitors for a couple of obvious reasons, one it’s a derby and two City simply cannot afford anything other than a win, something they should get with ease.Man Utd are in not in a great place at this moment in time and they certainly aren’t going to compete here.I have heard many people stating that there should be a reaction from the United players and there should be but it’s absolute nonsense because it doesn’t matter how you word it Man Utd simply are not good enough to compete with City.I fully expect Man Utd to get hammered in this game even though they are hoping for a top four spot they simply aren’t good enough and will be given the run around by City, for me another humiliation for the biggest club in the world.Correct score 0-4
    Best of luck

Hello everyone please can somebody explain how you use the points system at the start of the football season till the end my betting is all over show on whatever football is on and want to try have a bit of a routine but would like to understand it more say 1 points is 1 pound how much would I need and how long does it run ect any help would be appreciated as thinking of giving it ago for next season cheers

    • mr h 5 years ago

It differs for each of us… 1 point generally equates too 1% of your betting pot. Most pots are £100-£1,000 starting total, so 1 point on the minimum £100 pot would be £1 and those with £1,000 pot would be £10 per point

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Cheers for explaining that – spot on.
