SATURDAY has a strange feel to it with Albania v Scotland catching most of my attention on a day when others will be focused on the lower leagues.
We have Nations League matches, international friendlies, English and Scottish lower-league games and even Irn-Bru Cup ties.
I have to admit I didn't find it easy picking winners this weekend despite spending plenty of time studying games so play it with low stakes.
In England I like Sunderland, Peterborough and Bury while my best bets in Scotland are Ayr and Berwick. I've put all five on a moneyback acca and hopefully I'll get four or five correct.
I've posted separate previews on Ayr v Morton and the Scotland game as well as some English tips. I'm backing injury-ravaged Scotland not to lose but it's a tough test for an inexperienced and in many ways shadow side.
Most of my picks are reasoned on these posts. There are also some VIP tips – long shots – for members only.
My Super Single on Friday was a loser after Queen's Park conceded two late goals to Connah's Quay. I would have advised cover if I hadn't been skelping everyone at pool down the golf club. The treble was beaten all ends up – one goal short in Holland and one Wales goal short.

After many hours spent looking through stats like always I have gone for goals the 6 teams that I have chosen for the nap in 3 games and of course reasons why outlined:

🔻First up is the battle of the lower ranked teams at 19th and 20th with 1 point between them. Scunthorpe are the over 2.5goals kings of this league with them in second position for totals of 2.5 and they are the 3rd highest for the 1.5 with an average of 3.7 per game. Scunthorpe have the worse defence record as a result of this with 37 conceded and both these teams NEED to win and I cannot ignore the price plus I actually fancy Scunthorpe to nick the win as really both aren’t priced right with home at 11/10 only because of that. Bristol rovers are just after a loss to Exeter and will be seeking goals and I am happy to have this as a 1.5 choice.
🔺Next up is Coventry and they are also kings of conceding and their last 8 away from home in all competitions have seen both to score and 6 of those have also seen over 2.5 goals. Coventry need to win as the promotion play offs are in their grasp and only 5 points over all separate these teams and their opponents burton hold 2 strange records. The first is they are 75% for their both to score stats and second they are 52% for exactly 2-3 goals in their games with them having 5 in a row before all 2-3 but that was back September. They can score and I fancy both to get on score sheet here.
🔻Last up is Doncaster v Wimbledon and it should be plain sailing for Donny and their score power is 2xs that of Wimbledon with only 11 but a huge 26 conceded. They have lost their 5th straight game and Donny have lost 3 in a row and will want to bounce back with 2 of those games seen over 2.5 let alone 1.5 in the last 6. Doncaster like Coventry are in the mix for play offs and a win would see them level with Charlton occupying the last play-off spot pending other results.

The Fleetwood game being a midday kick off tempered my enthusiasm a little, not that it should really! Walsall aren’t a consistent side, but it’s a value price.

One was a shock win at NEC and they beat Eindhoven (17th) and Jong AZ (16th) after that. Before these 3 games they didn’t score in 5 of 6 games.
Almere won their last 2 games and only lost 3 games this season. They lost the second game of the season gainst tough opponent Roda and went on a 7 game unbeaten streak after that, winning 5 of these 7 games. They lost their 2 games after that. They lost to Go Ahead Eagles (2nd) 0-1 and lost at Twente (4th) 1-0 in a game they had enough chances to score. I think Almere are a better team than Oss and I just can’t see them lose here.

Volendam had a bad start of the season and were winless in their first 7 games. They only scored 4 goals in that 7 game period and conceded 11. Their headcoach Misha Salden was replaced by Hans de Koning and their performances are a lot better now. Volendam haven’t lost since he took over and scored 12 goals in their 6 games he is in charge. They still conceded 7 goals in those 6 games and only had 1 clean sheet.

Going to the match today to watch The Robins take on York today, should be a good game with goals. I’m expecting a home win, Alti have improved massively over the past few weeks and have strengthened their defence – which has been the weak spot this season.
Alti have always been decent in attack, but conceding too many goals was letting the team down but this has been fixed which has been reflected in the results. Alti have jumped from the lower-mid table to a very respectable 8th place, with the chance to get into promotion territory with a win today.
Ignoring the Cheshire Senior Cup game loss at home last week, where they fielded a weakened team, Alti have won their last 5 home games in a row scoring 4-3-3-4-5 team goals.
They face a York side who have not seen victory in 5 games, and lost their last 3 aways in a row conceding 2-3-2 goals. The 0-0 draw at 4th place Chester last week can be seen as a decent point for them.
Alti have further strengthened the squad with two new players ready for this game. Whats-more, The Robins boast the league’s most prolific shooter in Jordan Hulme, who’s netted 11 times so far this season. He’s the Jadon Sancho of the NLN… OK i’m being slighlty biased there ;-)

Grimsby have been conceding goals late on recently something brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago via an interview with Grimsbys manager via Radio Humberside.
I’ve posted it up twice on here the last twice they’ve played and within 5 minutes they’ve conceded. Both games were in the balance in the last 15mins,something to bare in mind, i.e if it’s 2 or 3 nil maybe it won’t happen but if as in the last two games it’s close it’s gotta be worth a flutter.
Just checked stats of last 5 games and they’ve conceded from 73minutes onwards in each game.
All things come to an end so approach with caution but for now the trend is Grimsby keep conceding late goals.

Going to the match today to watch The Robins take on York today, should be a good game with goals. I’m expecting a home win, Alti have improved massively over the past few weeks and have strengthened their defence – which has been the weak spot this season.
Alti have always been decent in attack, but conceding too many goals was letting the team down but this has been fixed which has been reflected in the results. Alti have jumped from the lower-mid table to a very respectable 8th place, with the chance to get into promotion territory with a win today.
Ignoring the Cheshire Senior Cup game loss at home last week, where they fielded a weakened team, Alti have won their last 5 home games in a row scoring 4-3-3-4-5 team goals.
They face a York side who have not seen victory in 5 games, and lost their last 3 aways in a row conceding 2-3-2 goals. The 0-0 draw at 4th place Chester last week can be seen as a decent point for them.
Alti have further strengthened the squad with two new players ready for this game. Whats-more, The Robins boast the league’s most prolific shooter in Jordan Hulme, who’s netted 11 times so far this season. He’s the Jadon Sancho of the NLN… OK i’m being slighlty biased there ;-)
