I HAD a good day out at Newcastle and some winning bets helped pay for the trip.
Watched Leicester bring up my Super Single while sipping newky brown in one of the station bars – and that was after changing my Scottish notes for less valuable English ones in a local bookies with winning trebles at 18-5 and 4-1.
Also invested some of that on Jamie Vardy to score first at 7-2 so it was a good night too.
Well done to all the winners and sorry for not mentioning them but just not been around.
I was at St James' Park with a Bournemouth-supporting pal and while he was disappointed it was a decent game.
The Cherries dominated the first half hour and should have been two or three up but goals either side of the break knocked their confidence and Newcastle packed the defence and held out fairly comfortably.
If they had a centre-forward such as Alfredo Morelos they might stay up comfortably. The front three are all exciting and talented players but between them have just one goal from Joelinton and that has to improve.
Moving on to Sunday and we have the big one between Liverpool and Man City. While I reckon Liverpool will edge I'm not sure if I want to invest on it. Macca reckons there will be plenty of goals with Dejan Lovren playing and Claudio Bravo in goals for City in place of the injured Ederson.
I hope he's right and it's a thriller and goals could be the way to go.
In Scotland it's Celtic v Motherwell and Livingston v Rangers and there are plenty of big games to look at on the Continent.
My tips for the Liverpool, Celtic and Rangers games were posted on Friday night and I've now picked out my best bets for Sunday.
I'm sticking with Celtic -1 against Motherwell and let's hope Neil Lennon doesn't make too many changes – get this out the way and stay in front of Rangers going into the break.
In the FA Cup Oxford United -1 in front of the cameras at Hayes should land. Oxford, unbeaten in 12, are the form side in League One and scoring bundles. Should be too strong for a Hayes side struggling in Southern League South.
Complete the treble with Marseille +1 at home to Lyon who are turning the corner under Rudi Garcia. Lyon are without Memphis Depay and that could be key as he and Moussa Dembele score almots all of their goals. Marseille are strong at home, losing just once this season, while their visitors have won two out of six on the road.
For a both to score treble start with Lazio v Lecce. The Romans were sloppy in defence as they lost to Celtic in midweek and face a side whose last five have brought up btts including matches against Juventus and Atalanta. Lazio score plenty but have conceded in six of their last seven.
Next go for Freiburg v Einracht Frankfurt. Five of Freiburg's last six have seen btts as have five of Eintracht's previous six including a 5-1 battering of Bayern Munich that cost Niko Kovac his job.
Add Montpellier v Toulouse with the visitors' last six landing this bet and Montpellier's last two seeing nine goals. This is possibly the weakest of my choices and alternatives include Liverpool v Man City, Getafe v Osasuna and Twente v Zwolle.
And don't forget to check the match previews and welovebetting for their tips and video chat.
