THAT was some night of football – Liverpool held off the challenge of Man City, Roma stunned Barcelona and in Scotland St Mirren's wait for the title continues.

I had some top tips and some stinkers. The both to score treble landed at 11-2 and the moneyback fivefold just missed out as Blackburn drew 0-0 at Gillingham.

My Top Treble was a St Mirren goal out as was the Super Single of Birmingham draw no bet.

Well done to all the winners including Jordan with his Liverpool goal time prediction.

Today could be day I complete my £10 to £1000 on Twitter – we're up to just under £700 after over 2.5 goals at Man City landed.

The other two Champions League ties are tonight and I've posted a separate preview on Real Madrid v Juventus and Bayern Munich v Sevilla. I don't expect any shocks but there should be goals in both.

There's not much else to look but Wolves can all but clinch the Championship title by beating Derby at home. Wolves should win but I'm going for Wolves draw no bet on a treble with over 2.5 goals at Bayern and Real Madrid.

For a Super Single take Cristiano Ronaldo to continue his incredible scoring run with the opener at 11-4 with Unibet.

Remember to check out welovebetting for their latest tips and betting blogs.

Anyone awake. The Red Bulls are all over Guadalajara in the CONCACAF. 20 minute splayed and they’ve had it in the final 3rd twice compared to the Red Bulls 21 dangerous attacks. 70/30 possession, 5-0 shots on target. Keep your eyes on.

They were impressive indeed Mint Lad,especially defensively, amazing how Van djik has changed the defense from one of the worst in the league to a solid unit, limiting City to shots from outside the area,i think City only had 3 shots on target in the two legs which tells it’s own story, hope we draw Munich or Roma in the semi’s,i would rather play Madrid over one game rather than two legs.

Good day yesterday with 4 out of 5 landing, including Liverpool’s goal time and Salah bagging at far too big a price. Seemed to be a tonne of winners on the site in general, so well done all.

    Farnborough v Bishop’s Stortford

One game stands out today and it’s at Farnborough. I kicked myself on the weekend for not backing Farnborough’s game for goals in a single and I’d be equally frustrated if I didn’t do so again tonight. Rarely have their games not seen goals – especially on home soil. They average 4.8 goals across 21 home games. 19 going Over 2.5, and 15 going Over 3.5. Unsurprisingly, they contribute to these goals as much as they concede (47 For, 53 Against).

A worry is that both sides have little to play for tonight. Still, Farnborough have lost their last 5 with 4+ goals in each, with no sign of their goal fests letting up. Meanwhile, Bishop’s Stortford come into this having hit a little purple patch in terms of goals scored and conceded. 40 Goals have been scored in their last 10, and 38 in their last 10 on the road.

The bookies’ aren’t as generous with the prices tonight as they were at the weekend, but I think it’s worth having a little go at reduced stakes. Farnborough games do tend to go off more often than not.

    Half Stake:

    O3.5 Match Goals @ 19/20 (188Bet)

    Third Stake:

    O1.5 First Half Goals @ 1/1 (Bet365)

  16. dolky 6 years ago

Why dont all of us on site put a banker single double or treble
Up so we can put all our information together, its no good us
Who dont have a big pot backing singles of prices like
1,3 or 8,11 or 4.5 as u cant win nothing u need atleast a treble.
Just my opinion, but if people put bankers up it would
    Give us more confidence.

    • leroy 6 years ago

In my experience there is no such thing as a banker. I also think you can still ‘win’ at backing bets at in and around even money even if you don’t have a big bankroll. I’m speaking for myself here when I say that I probably have a lower staking power than most, but disciplined betting at those prices has proven to show profit long-term. And you can still have a pop at the long shot accas along the way.

Although to answer your question more helpfully, perhaps look at the big tipsters on the site (Greg and the like) and reduce their selections a little, then combine them together into trebles. If Greg tips O2.5 Goals somewhere, take O1.5 Goals. If Hull tips Fylde to score twice, take them to score once. If Macca tips O3.5 goals in a PL game, take O1.5. That’s probably likely to give you as close to a ‘banker’ as any strategy out there would claim.

But the reality is bankers don’t exist. Because if they did, it’s the bookies who wouldn’t exist!

      Just my 2 pence. :)

Agree with this highly and I’m happy to double £10 to £20 with an evens or 8/11 etc.
People always want big wins and doesn’t happy regular. Since I’ve followed lower odds I have had dozens more winners and the 2.5 A’s Leroy said then just take 1.
Dad always taught me a 4/7 winner is better than a 2/1 loser.

      *health is your wealth*

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

As others have said the term “bankers” is misleading. It suggests the bet can’t lose and of course every bet can lose.
For bankers you should be looking at prices around 1-5, 1-6 and 1-7 not 4-5 and 8-11.
If you have confidence about a bet the odds shouldn’t matter – it’s all about whether you think your bet will win or not.

  17. oz777 6 years ago

    @dolky
Some of us are old enough to know that there’s no such thing as a ‘banker’ mate.
Football isn’t an exact science, hence the reason the bookies are rich, and the punters and chasing their tales.
Best advice I can give is to do your own research, and hope that the stats back up your selection.
    Never that easy though…

    • sean567 6 years ago

Small and often dolky, small and often. Unless your a professional gambling is meant to be fun and not about chasing the dollars. Build your bank up with lots of smaller wins until you can start putting more on a single bet at say 4/5. As someone said above short priced winners are better than big odds losers

Think the 4 Home sides predicted will have too much for their visitors. Add to this Basel v Zurich which to me has BTTS written on it, Basel haven’t been their usual dominant selves this season, and had a couple of flaky results by their standards. Zurich have scored in 7 of their last 8 away games. Last two H2H games were 0-0 and 1-0 (Basel), but beyond that this fixture has often seen BTTS historically.

Right i’m going to post my tip for the champions League winner, feel free to add any thoughts,if Liverpool meet Bayern or Roma back Liverpool to qualify,if Real Madrid meet Liverpool in the semi’s Back Real Madrid to win the Champions League,if Liverpool Meet Real Madrid in the final Back Liverpool to win the champions league. You Can get 6/4 on Real Madrid to win or 10/3 Liverpool win, really though Liverpool should be second favourites and not third.

    • davisam 6 years ago

I’ve backed Real Madrid at 9/2 to win the CL outright along with Atleti outright for the EL… but I’m wary of Liverpool so I might cover them.

I was more worried about Real meeting Liverpool in the semi’s rather than the final due to the anfield atmosphere, do you not feel playing the best team left in the competition at anfield would give you a better chance? Or do you just think they are a better side so a one off game would be better as anything can happen…. interested to hear your thoughts. I’m probably going to cover Liverpool before the draw is made, mainly as if they draw Roma they’ll shorten considerably.

    • aarron19888 6 years ago

i am also on this double, got the double at 22/1 boosted to just over 23/1, done straight outright

also done arsenal/liverpool double last week as well just incase @davisam

    • davisam 6 years ago

I really don’t see Arsenal as a threat, Atleti are a much better side and have more experience in the latter stages of European competition. Solid defensively which can never ever be said about Arsenal and better up front too with Griezemann and Costa. Arsenal are the type of side that they’ll relish playing against in my opinion, attack minded, possession based football and weaknesses to exploit defensively. I’m not worried about them at all, the CL is the slightly harder one but Barca going out makes it a 3 horse race. Real’s experience and European pedigree showed against PSG and I believe will show again if they face Liverpool. Bayern under Heynckes are more of a threat but they’ve struggled against the top Spanish sides in recent years so I’m hoping that continues. I watched them against Sevilla away and they were poor, they haven’t faced a test in the knockout stages this season either facing Besiktas and Sevilla, whereas Real have come through against PSG and Juventus (surely!).

    • maccathered 6 years ago

In a one off game Liverpool can beat Real Madrid no problem,,if Liverpool are to stand any chance of beating Madrid in a two legged affair then they would need the second leg at home,if we draw them and the fist leg is in Madrid then i would have a little bit of concern about backing Madrid to win it,home legs for the second leg are important it’s an advantage, having said that it is easy to cover for you anyway.

    • sean567 6 years ago

I agree with u on Liverpool beating Roma or Bayern regardless but I think Liverpool would have better chance against real over 2 legs myself mate. Taking away the anfield factor would be a major disadvantage to them

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Liverpool would outnumber Madrid fan wise in a final anyway.

    • davisam 6 years ago

Not the same at all mate, I’m sure you know that though.

    • davisam 6 years ago

Yeah, my thoughts exactly re Anfield. I’m still fairly confident in both Madrid sides lifting the trophies but it’s for 7 grand so I think I’d be daft not to cover. At the same time I don’t want to be throwing money away, my original plan was to hope that both sides make the final, wait for Atleti to win theirs (I can’t see anyone challenging them) and then cover the final by staking a decent sum on the opposition to lift the trophy. Any thoughts or strategies welcome.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

The Anfield atmosphere helps as Sean pointed out but in a one off game Liverpool can press for ninety mins they proved that already numerous times this season, another factor is they are not fighting for a fourth place finish in the league it’s almost done and dusted so all eyes can be focused in preparing for these champs league ties and with Klopp preperation is everything even better when your league position is tied up,like i said though it’s easy to cover your bet as it all can be done inplay.

    • davisam 6 years ago

The CL has been Real’s sole focus for the last couple of months so wouldn’t say that gives Liverpool an edge. Would be a cracking tie either way.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

It’s the experience they have davisam ,my point is you can score three goals against Madrid in a one off game and know they only have limited time to pull it back,or you can score three goals against Madrid in a two legged affair and they know they can pull it back in a second leg, thus a one off game suits better.

    • davisam 6 years ago

Lol, a factually correct statement but doesn’t really mean anything? The same can be said in reverse. In my opinion Real Madrid are quite considerably better than Liverpool, in almost every position so Liverpool would need other factors to help such as the Anfield crowd and a big slice of luck. The only Liverpool player that would get into the Madrid team would be Salah for Benzema. The Liverpool midfield is average at best but all they need to do is win the ball back and play forward quickly which makes them a dangerous team. GL to your team, I hope they get to the final and meet Madrid and it’s a cracking game.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

An interesting point you make there, now would you say Barca are better than Real Madrid??Now if Barcelona were still in the cup (and i am gutted they aren’t) then i would 110% be sure that we would beat them, they wouldn’t cope with Liverpool hands down, now you say Real Madrid are the far better side,i can’t agree with you there at all as usually the top sides in the premier league and the Spanish League are usually on a par with one another hence Liverpool have beaten Madrid 3 times out of there last 5 meetings, the only thing that Madrid have going for them is they have a lot more experience at this level then this youthful Liverpool side,Madrids players are more marketed than the English sides and i would say a fair few of Liverpool’s players would be on Madrids wish list.

    • davisam 6 years ago

Not sure I’d say it was a youthful Liverpool side either, the only player under 24 for Liverpool is Alexander Arnold and he’s only playing due to Clyne’s long term injury, the average age of that team last night would have been 25. something.

    • Mr Fixit 6 years ago

It’s probably too expensive to cover just now – at least wait to see what the semi-final draw throws up.
Also your bookie might make you an offer if you contact them but don’t take a rubbish one.

    • davisam 6 years ago

Yeah you’re probably right. Cash out is £883 currently, it went up by £250/300 after Barca went out last night. I wouldn’t take a cash out in all honesty, I’ll take my chances that they both make the final and make a call then.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

What ever happens i wish you luck on your bet.

    • davisam 6 years ago

No, I wouldn’t say Barca have a better team than Real Madrid, although the league table suggests otherwise. I’ve said all season they are distinctly average without Messi.
In recent years there’s no way you can say they’ve been on a par with Spanish clubs, there’s been 4 Spanish winners of the CL since England’s last, and 2 of those were all Spanish finals.
Real Madrid have a team of players that have won everything (and recently), they didn’t invest in the squad or sign a marquee player in the summer to push them on again so faltered in the league early on this season and effectively wrote off the league months ago. Once it gets to the business end of the season they focus their efforts though – case in point Cristiano Ronaldo’s form – his worst ever run earlier this season, now scoring for fun (20 in his last 11 I think). Real may well be interested in some of Liverpool’s players but other than Salah and Firminio I don’t see anyone challenging for a position in the Madrid first 11, that cannot be argued I’m afraid. I am saying they are a big danger though and I absolutely can see them causing Madrid problems.

    • maccathered 6 years ago

Not in recent seasons, there is that but you don’t get this far or even in the top four of the EPL with a bang average midfield so that statement i can’t concur, all Liverpool players are internationals,a bang average midfield would be that of a stoke city or even Arsenal.

    Wolves/Derby pre match thoughts:

After a wretched February and march, Derby manager Gary Rowett pulled no punches when it came to swinging his axe that saw Derby ditch skipper Richard Keogh + 4 other changes. We’ve not played great this past 2 matches but we’ve notched a smash n grab 1 nil away to an ambitious Preston side that dominated the match and missed a penalty, and a bit more workman like 3 nil at home to Bolton. Vydra got his 20th of the season, I think 19 in the league and with Joe Ledley back in the side in place of a below par George Thorne, we look a bit more like the side that put the great run together before Christmas.
Wolves are high flying, there’s no chance of that being ignored, they’re heavy favourites at around 4/9 with betfair, whilst the Rams are 5/1 to get the 3 points. That 5/1 was 13/2 just a few days ago, so some money is going on the rams. Wolves need just 2 wins to guarantee promotion from their remaining 5 matches and with home advantage, every Wolves fan on the planet is going to lumping all on the Wolves win.
Kudos to @mr-fixit to reading my mind on this one, i’ll explain:

Wolves front line can boast 39 goals between them, whilst Derby’s is 38. I’m sure Vydra will want to ignore that lowly 1 goal in the cup and get his 20th league goal tonight. Stranger things have happened. Derby seem to of got that bad run out of our system but tonights match is going to be as tough as they come. I cannot understand why the rams are a massive 5/1 because Derby seem to be more up for the fight against better teams and when they’re away from home. If Derby get the first goal, Wolves might get the jitters and that 5/1 price will be a part of history. I think Derby have lost 3 times on the road this season, 2 of them were embarrassing ( Bristol and one of the Sheffield sides ). So its not all done and dusted for Wolves, they can’t just turn up and expect 3 points. We saw recently Wolves are beatable, they can also be ill disciplined too, but that thumping they got from Villa seemed to put the willies up them a bit.
Derby have a game in hand and are 2 points above Middlesbrough in 7th, with Millwall breathing hard down their necks in 6th.
Derby double result is worth a good chance at around 13/10, Vydra ATGS is also good value at 23/10, but the best value in this match i’d say is definitely the btts @ Evens. All prices with betfair.

@mr-fixit has already flagged up the btts and with 2 strong attacking line-ups both wanting the points for their own agenda, its highly probable that this should land.

I’m not that confident on a Derby win, if we show up tonight and put a shift in, we could very well steal the Wolves party cake. I was going to bite my nails and see how Derby start the match and then decide whether to lump on the Derby win, but I’ve erred on the side of caution and taken the btts @ Evens with betfair.
I’m hoping to be around for team news in 40 mins, but its my mums birthday today and i’ll probably miss the first half doing the dutiful son bit. ( the old saying goes ” you only ever miss your mums birthday one ! ” )

I don’t expect Derby to change anything, Nugent works well to bring out the best in Vydra but Nugent I think has his boots on back to front. Lawrence has upped his game, Weimann and Ledley are workmanlike and Pearce in place of Keogh is seizing his opportunity.

See you in 40 mins guys, and good luck.

    NAP TONIGHT

Derbyare a hit and miss team for me and if i dont do them at big prices they win and if i do them at small prices they lose, in a 50-50 game like tonight i think they are massiver personally at 6/1 with various sites etc. I quite fancy them to at least score and for me thats what im on tonight, price is generous at 4/6

    derby to score 4/6 bet365
