Top Football Tips
Leagues Tipped:

IT'S been a week dominated by cup ties and on Thursday there's not much to bet on but three KO games in Spain.

Last night all three games went against the grain so be wary with Real Sociedad v Real Betis, Villarreal v Espanyol and Barcelona v Levante. All are finely balanced so it's about who wants it more and who fields a strong side.

Could be three home wins with the first two games level while I'm backing Barcelona to overturn a 2-1 deficit and squeeze through at home to Levante.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were rested for the first leg and it took a late goal by Philippe Coutinho to give Barca hope.

If they start with their superstar striking duo who shared the three goals against Eibar at the weekend then Barca should win so it's another win to think about leaving alone until team news is confirmed.

Barca are just 1-8 at McBookie to win in 90 minutes and 1-5 at Betfred to qualify so there's no value there. In five matches at the Nou Camp Barca have netted 24 times against Levante so Barca -2 at just under evens with sportingbet (7-9) must have a chance if Messi and Suarez start.

My disappointing January continued with both bets being beaten by one goal. The Super Single double was up until a late equaliser by Girona at Atletico Madrid – and once again I hope anyone on cashed out.

I thought I'd picked out a nice French +1 treble but it was let down by Rennes surprisingly losing at Guingamp. Ironically I was close to doing a btts treble on the games and that would have been a nice winner.

Well done to all the winners including HullShaker and Scott with two from three on his Southampton v Derby preview.

Desperate stats call for desperate measure and influenced by Greg's Scottish Cup tips on the big favourites I'm putting up two bets that will vastly reduce my deficits but damage them in a way Andy Murray did when he played a blinder against Roberto Batistuta Agut in the Australian Open.

As Greg says everyone play their strongest team or close to it in this weekend's Scottish Cup ties. Celtic (v Airdrie), Aberdeen (v Stenny), Hibs (v Elgin), Killie (v Forfar) and Inverness (v East Kilbride) pays evens at bet365. Although if you fancy a sizeable punt do it with a bookie that offers moneyback on fivefolds with no odds restriction such as McBookie.

All those sides should win with plenty to spare and you could take more risk by backing them on the -1 handicap at 5-1 with bet365.

I'm using points from today and tomorrow to put up two accas that hopefully put me back on track. Remember the Super Single tag is just another name for best bet and it's under evens.

These bets are inspired by Greg although I've left out Rangers at Cowdenbeath on Friday night. They should win by at least two but I don't want the bet being threatened before Saturday and I'm sticking to home teams.

As I expected the selections have sparked some debate and I get what everyone is saying. These are my bets and my stats and I can't imagine anyone follows all my tips religiously whether they're winning or losing.

I don't see it as chasing losses because I'm use two days' points – over a week I can risk up to 70 points and it's nowwhere near that even with these 18.

Hopefully the 15-pointer at least lands – if not I'll take what's coming.

Remember to look at welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

Backing the tips to these points with a 100 point betting bank has been reduced to zero so what step is taken next?

    • sless1903 2 years ago

Not sure why you think his tips will empty a 100 point bank? He’s staking 18 and is currently down 45. So if both tips lose he’s down 63 points so would still have 37 left to play with 🤔

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

I won’t lose 100 points – if it happens like anyone who loses a betting bank you start again.
Every day of my life I put 1pt towards a reserve bank account so it’s the next one is sitting there if I need it.

  4. turves 2 years ago

betting on 5 different matches with a total of 243 different outcomes, only 1 of which will pay out, to get a return of just under evens? Bookies will take these bets all day long. It may well come in, and good luck, but it’s not a good betting policy. Surely there is one match somewhere which pays a similar return and looks a good punt?

    • dolky123 2 years ago

I agree with u mate why back 5 teams to get under evens ……..

    • drogers 2 years ago

Wow we actually have a decent debate here on when the losses pile up…..I know ‘we all get them’ and ‘he’ll make it up’ i can see it all now.
I have to agree 5 folds even with such odds on favourites are risky and for 9/10- not even-Stevens making it a no no for myself.
Waiting on some boxing bets for the weekend, i may decide just to watch and enjoy, afterall, how many times do we all bet just to ‘have a flutter’ and ‘don’t fancy it much but having a go on’ etc.

      Roll the dice 🎲

      Let the chasing begin….

    • GregBrowning 2 years ago

      Morning gents

Just been reading through some of the comments:

Firstly, posting a 5 team or 6 team evens bet isn’t something that happens very often and its not a case of chasing, its an opportunity this has presented itself due to the bookies pricing of the matches and Mr F is betting with what he can afford to bet with

Both Mr F and I are close to Scottish football and we know the difference in quality between teams in the SPFL and the part times teams in the lower divisions

The 5 teams in the super single are all at home, not only are they playing sides from 2 and 3 divisions below, they are playing sides who are really struggling.

The only surprise is Paul is only putting 15 points on it :) – I’ll be backing it heavily and will also be backing heavily the other bets I’ve suggested

Clubs take the Scottish cup seriously, we have some of the countries best sides playing against some of the countries weakest, not to mention the difference in professionalism, fitness etc.

If the English clubs fielded their best sides in the FA cup and you were getting even money on Man u / City/ Liverpool/ Chelsea / Arsenal all at home against struggling League One and Two sides you would be all over it.

The gulf in quality between Aberdeen and Stenhousemuir and Hibs and Elgin as an example is huge. Both sides will win well and if you are doing handicap bets, these are the two games to get on

If you don’t want to back them or don’t fancy them then don’t

There are other opportunities – Killie / Hibs / Aberdeen is probably the safest 8/15 shot you’ll ever see

My two other bets from Saturday will both be NAPS

      🔵Hibs over 2.5 match goals 4-5

      🔵Aberdeen / Hibs – both matches over 2.5 goals 5-4

    • jamesylfc 2 years ago

Must point out East Kilbride are anything but struggling but I’m still on this with you, gap between Inverness and them alone is huge nevermind the form 👍

    • GregBrowning 2 years ago

that’s a fair call out mate – ICT the only one to have any slight concern about.

Really like McBookie’s one wrong money back offer at pretty much the same odds.

I don’t see it being a 5 fold, – If ICT win, which they absolutely should, then the bet lands ,

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

      Cheers, some good thoughts there.

    • tigerman1 2 years ago

Hibs over 2.5 mgls is currently 1.36 at bet365….

    • GregBrowning 2 years ago

yeah now into 8/13 from 4/5

The goals double is now 9/10 from 5/4

I posted these bets at 7am on Tuesday morning with the expectation they will shorten long before Saturday – i’ll maybe update thread to show that

    • drogers 2 years ago

Bl**dy el’ you’ve just about converted me with that reply Mr Browning.
      Empty your bank accounts…!

No just kidding but maybe instead of several bets over the weekend I could be on the double and overs @Hibs and some on the whole lot.

Roll the dice 🎲 av a wee go.

    • GregBrowning 2 years ago

There isn’t 243 outcomes here – these teams will win

    • warktheline 2 years ago

Thanks for the early heads up Greg, I jumped on it as soon as you highlighted it! If you fancy it folks follow , if it’s not for you don’t!😂👍👊

    • GregBrowning 2 years ago

I’m equally as confident on Hibs to score 3 and the Hibs Aberdeen match goals double

    • warktheline 2 years ago

On your double as well! 👍👊……I think all on site should bail out Mr F if all goes south! 😂🙈…’s the least we could do considering the amazing site we all ( well most bar the odd exception) contribute to!😂

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

I’ll be fine but the dug might be on dug food for a week instead of her usual treats.

    • sean567 2 years ago

Re: the above debate it’s not really chasing losses if your continuing to use similar stakes is it? It’s still only 2 days stakes and mr fixit always says he doesn’t do much on Friday, so using Friday and Saturdays stakes to try get a deficit reduced isn’t really chasing imo. Different if he was using a months stakes but that’s only my opinion. As for the actual bet itself, it’s much better to back a 5 selection 9/10 winner than a 10/1, 5 team loser is it not? As someone who often picks trebles or 4folds about the evens mark let me say I’ve had far more winners doing that than chasing bigger odds.

  5. kevwood61 2 years ago

not really responsible gambling like you advise don t chase losses and surely there is a better even money bet out there

    • elvis parsley 2 years ago

If the 2 bets were put up without the write up they probably wouldn’t be questioned.

Maybe Mr fixit mentioning eating into his losses has opened the loss chasing debate.

But he is using his points allowance from today and tomorrow to fund it.
If it loses he loses his daily allowance which I presume is affordable losses.
Let’s hope they come in aye

    • elvis parsley 2 years ago

If the 1st 4 win in the 15 point fivefold you can also bet on Airdrie double chance at 9-1 in the late game to ensure profit so it’s a fourfold really.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

That’s the case – I’m not using more points than usual. Just allocating them differently.
I expect the first bet to come in but as you say I can afford it if they don’t.
Never risk losing money you can’t afford.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

I’m pleased you’ve questioned it because you should. I’ve explained the reasons why I’ve picked the bets.
Like Greg I fully expect the fivefold to land but anyone who has doubts shouldn’t bet it.
Like everyone else I don’t like such short-priced fivefolds but that’s what is on offer.

    • alva glen 2 years ago

  6. mr. orange 2 years ago

Not a lot of value to be found in the Dutch leagues this weekend. The Eredivisie is back and some teams have brought in players while others have lost their best.

    Eredivisie – Friday

    Vitesse v Excelsior

Both teams haven’t done any transfer business this window yet. Vitesse only had 3 clean sheets in 17 and only 1 clean sheet at home. They only failed to score in 1 home game and that was against Ajax. 6 of their 8 home games saw BTTS.

Excelsior only had 1 clean sheet away from home and only 3 all season. They only failed to score in 3 of their away games and 2 of these 3 games were at PSV and Feyenoord. Excelsior beat Vitesse 2-0 earlier in the season.

Both teams to score looks big here @ 1.90

    Eredivisie – Sunday

    Emmen v PSV

Nothing special here, I think PSV will win this easily. The reverse fixture was 6-0 and I think we will see something like a 0-3 or 0-4 win. AZ and Feyenoord both beat Emmen 1-4 and PSV are on a higher level than those two clubs at the moment.

    PSV -1.75 asian handicap @ 1.80

heres a very simple example and simple answer

hull for example asked me other day why double nap stake if not much i fancy – answer was given to him that i wouldnt be betting wednesday or thursday so used my daily allowance to go one hundred instead of fifty. answer was fine and accepted.

now in MR f case, i defend him and he is using his points how he wants, people dont like the value or the price or the amount of teams etc – Answer – DONT DO IT AND MOVE ON

also i see the comments on it are coming from people who barely speak or contribute themselves!
stick of people who come on to ridicule instead of praise. We cant win all the time but we will certainly try and help each other and make it a better forum as always for the other that are here and doing their daily and weekend previews all to help others.

I’m confused, how can the super single be 5 teams to win? I thought single means one? Scratching my head at this one 🤔

    • shortee 2 years ago

Mr f just remove these victims tbh.

    • GregBrowning 2 years ago

90% of the time it is only one team but every now and again it could be a double or in this case a rare 5 fold. its Mr’s best bet / NAP, whatever you want to call it so don’t worry too much about what its called

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Super Single’s just a tag – I’d change it to Best Bet but can’t for search purposes. It’s hunted online apparently.

    • alex_mufc83 2 years ago

      and I quote…..

Mr Fix It 17/01/2019 – “..Remember the Super Single tag is just another name for best bet and it’s under evens.”

Maybe read the full write up before scratching said noggin.

Thanks for that captain brown nose. 👃 💩
It was a simple question as its called super single.
I think I’m in the majority when I say it’s confusing.
I’m sure you would agree it would better if it was under the title “long shot accumulator” Then it’s clear for everyone.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

      It’s never a long shot – 9-10’s not a long shot.
I’ve explained it. I’ve used the term Super Single since the site started and people search for it.

But there are so many outcomes possible mr f.
My point is every weekend big underdogs defy the odds. Chances are at least 1 of those 5 matches is going to let the long shot down. Just look at Leicester city winning the league and that was over a full season, never mind a one off game.
Good luck with the bet but it’s not for me, I like to win

    • sean567 2 years ago

Lionel I would say there’s more chance of this bet winning than anything mr fixit has tipped in the last few years.

  23. HullShaker 2 years ago

    Afternoon gents,

Hardly an inspirational card but there are two games that hold some potential low-stake interest in the form of Jamaican and SA Youth football matches.

Although they may not appeal for the usual reasons – there are similarities in historical (and recent) form that may indicate similar outcomes after 90 minutes hence the singles and doubles…

Waterhouse the better side and a shorter price for the win but 5 of the last 6 H2Hs ending in a stalemate makes it difficult to oppose a full-time draw.

Add into the mix a distinct lack of goals with only 1 of those 6 H2Hs seeing more than 2 goals AND 100% of the last home H2H’s ending unders and we may be looking at a match best watched after copius bottles of Red Stripe and a big reefer 😂

Copasudamericano Youth action here and this is another game that may not offer the spectacular fanfare needed at the start of a new tournament!

But, I’m not betting on great looking games and total football, I’m betting on outcomes I think have a good chance of happening and where prices don’t quite correlate to what I think may happen.

Small stakes again but it’s another game that may well end in stalemate – something that has happened in 5 of the last 6 encounters between these two sides as well as the distinct possibility of a low goals count:

    UNDER 2.5 MGS DOUBLE…1.26/1

    DRAW DOUBLE…8.61/1

    Best of luck 👍

    • HullShaker 2 years ago

Filter clearly doesn’t like Jamaican team names 😁

    4PM – AFC Asian Cup

    Saudi Arabia v Qatar

Should be a feisty affair, both teams in decent form and both capable of scoring/conceding. Both teams to score looking good value at EVENS [IF it lands ;-) ]
I actually think this may well go BTTS & Over 2.5 MGls (17/10) but sticking with BTTS.

    Saudi Arabia v Qatar

    Also on;

    Saudi Arabia v Qatar – O1.5 MGls
    Alanyaspor v Kasimpasa – BTTS (3.30PM)

    Saudi Arabia v Qatar
    Alanyaspor v Kasimpasa

    Best of luck.

No goal from Saudi downs the main pick, perhaps more surprisingly goal-less in Turkey. onwards.

  25. HullShaker 2 years ago

Maybe it’s just me but isn’t there a sudden upsurge in completely hormonal pissants posting at the moment – not surprisingly and very clearly ones who have previously been on under different names…laughably obvious and you know who you are 👋

It’s a very honest tipping site where the vast majority of folk put their thoughts up, celebrate when they win but also post when they lose.

I see absolutely no-one forcing anyone’s arm behind their back or any of the regular lads giving it the big one with ‘guaranteed winners’ so what’s the problem.

We’re all aware of the need for sensible gambling but seems to me there’s a lot of folk who’ve sadly had bad experiences but are continuing to follow a betting site which isn’t healthy for them or the folk who enjoy responsible punting for what it is?

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Mrfixit obviously has a big following and there is obviously a clear message not to chase losses. And one thing that always happens when people chase losses is their stakes get bigger. The only time I see Mrfixit put up these huge stake bets are when the figures aren’t too good and so obviously there is a change in mentality. I’d say this is chasing losses. Mrfixits reply is that he is within his parameter of not risking more than 10 points in a day, but the only time he regularly goes to these limits is when things aren’t going well

    • warktheline 2 years ago

@paul, have you taken in to account @gregbrowning, remarks and stance on this bet? It’s not a bet that would come up on a regular basis and as such many are viewing it as good value with all teams involved considered! Is your ‘argument’ balanced? All the best 👍👊

    • shortee 2 years ago

Exactly what I said hull and names of 3/4 “new people” I’ve seen already today and commentating when never did before bar under a different name. Sad really.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Possibly but I also see an opportunity here.
I’m not really chasing losses because I’m only down on paper with the Super Singles – if I took into cashouts (which wouldn’t be fair) I’d be in profit.
The Andy Murray singles and last night’s were good examples.

  26. baldy45 2 years ago

Looks a safe enough 5-fold to me. But 9/10 is the price for all 5 to win. Not for the stake back if 1 wrong.
That would be no bigger than 1/5. Its an all or nothing bet.

    • shortee 2 years ago

Obviously 9/10 is price for all to win and not for stake back. Complete helmet comment that is ⛑⛑

    • alex_mufc83 2 years ago

LOL are some people on here serious

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

The odds are 9-10 and some bookies offer stake back for 1 wrong. So it’s not an all or nothing bet.

    • alex_mufc83 2 years ago

on paper it was a good bet, all things considered. he was 2 sets to nil down. no one forecast a monumental comeback from an injured Murray at that stage.

there’s nothing to moan about, just stick to low stake bets. people need to stop blindly following tips – use your own brain for goodness sake, if you have doubts don’t back it.

    • alva glen 2 years ago

Of course cause there aint no millionaires on here through betting.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

It was but remember when Murray trailed 2-0 and was a break down the cashout offer was 90 per cent of potential winnings.
My totals don’t take into account cashouts but I’ve said many times if I get an offer of 80 per cent or above I’ll consider if there’s a doubt about the bet landing.
The 3-0 bet and the 3-1 allowed everyone to take almost full winnings if they wanted to.

Aberdeen – 2. at odds against, is the bet of the day for me

    • alva glen 2 years ago

Yip with you there. That looks the strong one for me too could be done at HT.

    • sean567 2 years ago

I think so too. Rather than back the teams to win I’ve done tgs, and I’ve went for aberdeen to score 4 and the other 3 teams only 3. Aberdeen should run riot against a side taking hammerings in their own league

  32. echo42 2 years ago

Hi Mr F, quick question regarding the 15 point ACCA. Not really interested in what’s right or wrong – we all know the score – more about the practicalities of getting bet on. I follow the tips closely and by and large i stick to 1 point = a fiver. 15 points would be 75 quid but McBookie has a twenty five quid limit on the money back guarantee? (As far as I know feel free to correct me there). I know a couple of bookies do similar offers but I’m guessing they’ll have their own limits. How would I get a fifteen pointer on at one bookies is the question? Am I able to put the same bet on at one bookie over a 2 or 3 day period and still keep the stake back guarantee on each individual bet? Hope that makes sense-cheers in advance.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

I’m putting up points not cash amounts but as you say the McBookie cash limit might affect some.
There are ways round out but if I publish them here I will be accused of abusing the offer and prevented from using it.

You’ve said that a point is £10 for you before so if the offer is limited to £25 it’s not really money back. And if there are ways around it but you can’t say then I don’t think you can state money back as free bet for everyone. Also money back as a free bet shouldn’t count to the total because free bets are invisible unless you use them on a winning bet.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

That’s correct but I’m not advising points value for anyone so the stats are what they are – in reality the points totals give a nod to form.
I don’t count losing moneyback bets in the same way I don’t count it as a winner if the free bet lands. I think that’s fair.

    • sean567 2 years ago

I’d spread your bet across different bookmakers that do the offer if you want to put more than £25 echo. Be aware some bookies are less than the £25, I use ladbrokes for wdw Accers and they are now £10

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

That’s one way – there are others. But I can’t say.

All this is getting a bit misleading for anyone who follows you Mrfixit.

By the way, a 10pt losing ( and I know you cashed out Paul but not everyone would’ve) TENNIS! (Yes tennis!!!!🙈🙈🙈) tip on Monday, barely an eyelid batted, yet a reasonable football bet that most folk will know will land causes a commotion. Surely if anything the irresponsible tip was on Monday. Why no furore then?

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Probably because they were singles – I know a 9-10 fivefold isn’t the most popular.

    • sean567 2 years ago

As I said above a winning 9/10 fivefold beats a losing 10/1 fivefold any day of the week.

  41. GigiKenzo 2 years ago

What a damp squib in turkey, lets down the double early doors. Disallowed early goal didn’t help.

I was looking into Barca team news and seen the story that Barca may been kicked out of the cup for playing a banned player in the previous game. Apparently this happened to real a few years back. So with that in mind the game might be pointless as they might get kicked out even if they win. That might change Barcelonas priorities and give them more reason to play a weak team.

Question for Kelly – At the beginning of each month you publish stats for yourself and the principal contributors to the site. As a rule i believe you base your stats on £10 per point – that being the case, Mr F’ will have deemed to have staked £150 on the super single.

If and I hope that it does win, you will calculate the winnings based on the £150 stake – If however it loses, Mr F will deem that his stake has been returned as its a nominal 15 pt stake. Mcbookie only return the stake however up to £25 and therefore a £150 stake would be lost.

Let’s hope for all concerned that the bet wins and this is purely a hypothetical question :)

If there is to be a shock in the Scottish cup on Saturday, it could be auchinleck Talbot to beat Ayr united. Ayr are on a 5 game winless run despite having a great league season. They are missing 3 or 4 key players . leading scorer Lawrence shankland is a doubt again. Auchinleck are the top junior team in Scotland and have developed a winning mentality over the years. They have players who have played at the top level and the atmosphere in auchinleck will be buzzing. Could be a tricky test for Ayr united. Small ground, bumpy pitch and full house . auchinleck are a tempting 14/1 to cause a shock. I am an Ayrshire lad and really looking forward to watching this on the telly.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Being a Clydebank fan I’m familiar with Auchinleck – they are streetwise and tough to beat but it’s a big step up to Ayr.
Shankland’s fitness could be the key but Ayr could be too strong and remember they beat the West champions Beith 4-0 away in the last round.

The Jamaican and CopaSud Youth games both sit 0-0 at ’55 and ’45 minutes respectively so decent prices to cashout/cover on all ‘draw’ and ‘unders’ singles and doubles 👍

I couldn’t advise either way as they are such fickle markets but I’ll stick with it for the full 90.

  69. mr boofle 2 years ago

Fair comment Mr.fix it. Ayr should win with shankland and the right mentality. Auchinleck manager tommy Sloan played for Ayr so will want to get one over on them. Should be an interesting game and possibly closer than most of Saturdays mismatches in the Scottish cup.

    • Mr Fixit 2 years ago

I’m tipping both to score at Auchinleck and maybe Ayr and both to score.
They’ve some decent forwards and a decent keeper – the same Leishman who saved that penalty at Tynecastle – so Ayr will need to be professional about it.

  70. sean567 2 years ago

Cover available on my goals tip, under 2.5mgs 17/2 ladbrokes. Barca need another to kill this tie so I’m not gonna bother with the cover

  71. baldy45 2 years ago

I stand corrected, folks. I read it as “money back for 1 wrong”. That would of course be a very short price (many bookies offer this Acca Edge type bet). Now I see its actually “a free bet for 1 wrong” which explains the apparent good price. Free bets are not equivalent to stakes refunded. Not even close.

That said, it looks a winner to me and I’d be shocked if any of those 5 let the acca down.

Have to be honest, I got side tracked last night, so ended up missing the first 85 mins of the Southampton/Derby match, but I did have a little bit of fun on the lead up. Did my usual bank-build grind and even though I missed all the action, the goals, I did opt for over 1.5 in that game. Then I had a little fun in the penalty’s. Missed dropping my increasing pot on Derby’s final penalty by maybe 2 seconds. It spat it out having locked out betting. It cost me a loss of £50 ( not really a loss, but a £50 boost ), but I walked away on the night up to £129.
I then dropped onto a cheeky double in costa rica for an over 1.5 and I woke up to £171 in my bank.
Today was really slim pickings and I took an in-play Barcelona to qualify @ 2/9 and overs 1.5 in the Brazilian Ava game @ 1/4. It took an age for the bookies to settle the Barcelona component and now I shall sit back and hope it rains in some goals in Brazil. If the goals do come, I could be up just over £100 on the night if it lands. This is usually about the time that I start to dial it down a notch and be more cautious. I’ll keep you guys posted.
