THAT'S the FA Cup weekend over and now we move to the EFL Cup semi-finals.
First up is Man United v Man City with Leicester v Aston Villa tomorrow – and these remember are first-leg affairs.
I've got quite a bit riding on Leicester who I'm convinced will take care of Villa at home. Two parts of my Top Treble won last night – Arsenal and btts at Napoli – so a Leicester victory would give me a welcome 6.9pts boost.

The Manchester derby is tougher to call and both to score could be the way to go. We don't need to worry about team news as both will field their strongest line-ups but I'm finding it difficult to pick a winner.
The concenus seems to be a Man City win or draw and both to score and United fans see m to be happy Romero is replacing De Gea in goal. A good stat in the Racing Post today is the fact six of the last seven first-leg semi-finals featuring Premier League sides have gone under 2.5 goals so it could be cagey,

United will feel confident about facing their rivals after beating them 2-1 at the Etihad in the league but City are the better and more consistent team and will fancy a bit of revenge but I'm just going to watch this one.
Elsewhere there's not much to look at with Doncaster vs Shrewsbury in League One and some EFL Trophy and National League games – HullShaker's best bet is both to score and overs at Altrincham and other tips I've seen include both to score at Hartlepool, Boston to win and Shrewsbury not to lose.
I'm quite happy to have no bets tonight and keep my powder dry for Leicester tomorrow.

The problem with this United side is you don’t know which one will turn up, I backed them in a double with Celtic back in December & got a nice return, but then they let me down a week later at Watford 🤔
Honestly Jimba having watched them a fair bit this season they’re just not very good. Think that game against city recently they had a freak perfect game and City underestimated them. It happens.
United have no decent CMs available tonight with both Pogba and McTominay out and I expect City will be out to get revenge for the previous result.

1. Was there a winner of desmonds competition? A quick scroll through of his last thread seemed to show very few winners at all which maybe shows picking two goal winners is more difficult than first thought
2. Interesting article on bankrolls. I’ve tried that and personally found it strangely made me want to protect the bank at all costs – tempting me to place bets to get the bank back to normal after any loss. It’s a sensible plan on paper though and definitely makes sense for anyone putting decent sums down and aiming to make decent money.
Personally I’ve settled on an approach where my stakes are such that if every bet I placed at a weekend lost, I wouldn’t miss the money (I have a figure in mind before the weekend starts and don’t go over that) so have stopped keeping any track of it or a bank of any kind. That seems to work well and means the bets remain more of a fun nature with winnings a real bonus as opposed to anything I am relyIng on
