Top Football Tips

IT was a disappointing night with the Scots games I looked at not going to form.

Only Ayr lived up their reputation while in the bottom v top game Ross County could only draw – and Billy Mckay failed to score to beat the Super Single.

I was a Tranmere goal away on the both to score treble and that was as close as I got.

Don't think there were too many winners on a difficult night – although HullShaker landed his late one – so let's see if we can do better on Wednesday.

I've posted a separate preview of the six Scottish Premiership games including Hearts v Hibs and Rangers v Kilmarnock.

Elsewhere there are Carabao Cup games including Arsenal v Blackpool, Chelsea v Derby and West Ham v Spurs and again check line-ups before having a punt.

I advised Bournemouth to beat Norwich after line-ups revealed eight changes for both teams and Nottm Forest showed what the tournament meant to them as they made 10 changes and went down at Burton.

Milan face Genoa in Serie A and there are plenty of cup games across the Continent that need team news before having a serious bet.

It's the final day of October so it means another profitable month but I'd prefer to finish with a win on either the Super Single or Top Treble or both.

I'm adding a treble that features a European selection. Start with Arsenal -1 at home to Blackpool and the Gunners should win by three or four if they field a strong side.

Take both to score at Chelsea v Derby as Frank Lampard returns to Stamford Bridge. Should be an exciting game and while the home side are hot favourites Derby have shown in recent games they can score on the road.

Cup games on the Continent can be tricky to call but I'm backing Nice at home to struggling Ligue 2 outfit Auxerre.

The Nice price is decent when you consider the difference between the sides. Nice have won six out of the last seven he road between the sides while Auxerre have lost their last three on the road without scoring.

Remember to check out the excellent welovebetting site for their tips and video chat.

Not a massively confident one today, but, my team Chesterfield are now on 4 game drawing streak (plus 6 of the last 8 draws and 3 consecutive league aways finishing 1-1). Sutton 3 of the last 5 homes have been draws.

    Small stakes
    Draw ✅
    1-1✅

We love a streak of results! 3 wins to start the season, followed by 6 defeats now 5 draws in a row

    Mr Fixit!
Why are you stick to Scottish Football it’s difficult because of it’s poor standard of the game.
English and European are far more predictable in my view..I was sure you were going to lose
and tomorrow will be difficult as well…Meanwhile the dutch and the belgianas are scoring for
fun..also the austrians and in Germany favourites have won almost everything..plus Augsburg ov/btts..
Can you afford to ignore these matches.we should try to win..Allsvenskan is finishing, there are tips to be found over there incuding bankes such as : Sirius -1,Norrkoping -away,in Grrmany Dortmund 1/ov2.5,Gladbach btts/ov2.5 an more..More eurepean tips please.

You won’t get many more European tips from me but plenty of others do them such as Scott.
I’m based in Scotland and write Scottish football columns for the Daily Record so I need to focus on Scotland.
UK football is what I know best – I don’t have time to do the massive research needed on all the major European leagues never mind Scandinavian ones.
I’ve been doing fairly well on Scottish football and around 90pts profit over the last 2 months tells me there’s not much wrong.

Anyone with half a brain would put up tips based on their strongest source of knowledge. Mr F sticks too British football, Greggs here with solid French, Scottish youth and goals tips,Kelly D is the undisputed inplay champion,Hulls the man for South America, Jordan has quietened but for MLS he was the go too man, Bully likes the corner markets etc and there’s plenty more that I haven’t mentioned…pick and choose who too follow but like all tips have a look for yourself before you place a bet and decide if you agree with the given tip and stats 👍🏻

Well said @me h that’s what makes this place so great. Everyone coming together to share knowledge that others aren’t aware of to help beat the bookies. If we all focused on the same games or league’s there wouldn’t be nearly as many winners. Plus some people just enjoy having a bet to make a game more enjoyable and thanks to this place you have most things covered. I especially like reading comments from fans on their own teams as they are by far the most knowledgeable as shown by the centerfield tip above. Keep up the great work everyone.

You make out like it’s easy greggy but it really isn’t, otherwise we’d all be rich. Mr F has made some great picks and has been really consistent lately, why would he post tips from markets he’s unfamiliar with.

It’s incredibly easy to act the big man in hightsight – funny how all the ‘experts’ pipe up AFTER the results have happened.
If those Euro markets are so obvious, why don’t you post your tips on the site?

You’re spot on. In betting you need info as well as some gut feeling and knowledge of the teams.
When I look outside the UK senior leagues it can take 15-20 minutes checking form, stats and team news for each match and I can do that for a couple but not many.
He has to remember my full-time job is on the Record sports desk and all the betting stuff is on top of that.
It’s the unseen research that takes up most of the time as opposed to the writing.

    2nd leg Semi-final night at 00.45
    Copa Libertadores
    🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 vs 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷

    *Gremio vs River Plate*

Gremio second leg semi-final tonight and i am pretty happy we are here again in this position and going for another title. I did highlight midweek in the Gremio nap that there was no value in us to win the brazil serie a game against sport Recife as we had no interest at all with river plate upcoming tonight.

The first leg saw an unusual 13 corners hit and 7 of those in the 1st half, tonight there is some HIGH prices again as I always highlight in this cup and when we play.

I’ll be very honest and always say I won’t be backing us at home with a price of 8/7 and 23/20 as there is value on goals and on corners tonight again with corners and 2-3 getting the nod
I always say this for late night Brazil or south America or cup is the prices on goals

    💎1.5 goals 4/7
    💎2.5 goals 17/10
    💎2-3 goals 1/1

I got Gremio at 4/1 first leg and we even got them to score a single goal at 10/11 if most remember.
1 thing we are good at is defending when we need to and one of the tightest serie a defences with only 23 goals conceded and it was 19 until sport Recife so we are 2nd best defence behind palmerias (20 conceded)

With all this in mind and the fact i believe GREMIO will qualify for the final again and as always I will be having multiple bets on my boys as they have always served me well.

*The 2 NAPS tonight with level stakes are*

    1. Over 9 corners at 1/1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ £50
    2. 2-3 goals at 1/1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ £50
    3. Goal score after 65.59 at 5/6 ⭐⭐⭐£30 ❗️side bet❗️

    🔹All prices bet365

⚠️ As meatloaf would say 2 out of 3 ain’t bad and a late late penalty see river plate go through. Gutted for my boys. Huge prices again in that cup
For goals and the first half goal alone was 8/13. Both to score 5/4 etc.
💎 small profit was made anyway

I had a double of over 1.5 mgls and over 7 corners on this one.
Sat up til 3am watching it.
After 89 mins and it’s 1-1 and needing ONE corner.
River Plate player hits a shot, it takes a deflection and goes out for a corner.
Ya beauty! Or so I thought.
The ref gets called over to view the VAR.
A minute later he gives a penalty.
Turns out the River Plate player’s shot nicks the defender’s hand.
There’s absolute NO way the defender could’ve got his hand out the way.
He was so close to the attacker it was impossible.
The ref books the defender, all hell breaks loose, and eventually he books the defender again, who has lost it big time, and he’s off.
River Plate score and are going through on away goals.
The 4th official holds up 13 mins of injury time.
Does the 8th corner arrive in that time?
      DOES IT F@*K!!!😈😈😈

    QUILMES VS. AGROPECUARIO (2230 KO):

I generally steer clear of Argentinian games but making an exception here – it’s not the hot-bed of goals that many other SA leagues are but there is vaue to be had!

Not time to post up full reasoning but suffice to say hosts Quilmes are prone to conceding and have done just that in 7 of their last 8 matches whilst Agropeciario (if you rule out their last couple) are well capable of a goal on the road.

One selection worth a wee look:

    🇩🇪 cup BTTS treble……

    Cologne v Schalke
    B. Monchengladbach v Leverkusen
    Holsten Keil v Freiburg

    7/2

Celtic travel to Dundee tonight and should stroll to victory. Goals will be hard too come by so looking at the card markets and Dundee top card collector. Celtic will dominate possession and I expect Tierney to be prevalent in an attacking sense as always, he’s up against Dundee vice captain Cammy Kerr who’s picked up 3 bookings in 9 outings including both the previous home games. Expecting Tierney to give him a torrid time tonight but also expecting Lewis Morgan too play on the left as players are rested after Sundays semifinal and another booking could be possible at 4/1

Cammy Kerr to be carded 4/1

Stick it in a Bet builder with Celtic too win by 3+

Augsburg let me down yesterday but I am with Köln tonight!
    – Schalke is still in a crisis! They scored just 9 goals in ALL 13 games this season!
    – Köln is on TOP of 2nd Bundesliga and scored already 24 goals in 11 games
    – Köln has just to play 2nd Bundesliga and DFB Pokal, Schalke plays CL, BL and DFB. So stamina should be on Kölns side
    – Köln plays at home!

    Chelsea vs Derby county

Another day for loftus cheek to rise to the occasion against his maestro called Frankie but not as a player, this time around as a coach….. Loftus cheek has notched 4goals in his last two matches, hat trick against Bate and one against Burnley…. This lad seems to be firing from all cylinders against anything that has Alphabet B as first letter….. I can’t wait to see how he will do that against Letter D tonight…. 3.25odds for him to score at anytime, it’s a good value which I can’t overlook…… For him to score 2 or more goals is 15odds…. If he starts, I will be on his anytime scoring and even use my spare cash to stake his 2or more goals option

    Morning gents

FULL SPFL card tonight and i’ll be at the Tony Macaroni stadium to watch St Johnstone play Livingston – my focus though will be on two home sides who I expect to win

    Rangers v Kilmarnock (7.45pm)

It’s back to home comforts for Rangers and at Ibrox they have been terrific. They’ll be looking to bounce back from Sunday’s desperately disappointing cup exit to Aberdeen.

Kilmarnock were held at home to Hamilton at the weekend and although they will make this tough i fully expect Steven Gerrard to have his side ready to make amends and get back to winning ways

    Aberdeen v Hamilton (7.45pm)

The Don’s stunned everyone on Sunday as they snatched a late goal to knock Rangers out of the cup claim a place in the league cup final.

It was a fine win for Aberdeen and one of their best results in recent years. They will be full of confidence and it’s hard to see them slipping up here at home

Hamilton stopped the rot with a good point away at Kilmarnock but this is tougher. I don’t see them claiming anything from this – they conceded too many goals and don’t score enough

Nothing flash here – Rangers and Aberdeen should land

    Recommendation

    Rangers / Aberdeen double

What a difference a week makes. Saturdays Middlesbrough V Derby game had the potential to rain down goals – a real repeat/rinse situation similar to how Derby performed against WBA but it just never happened. Derby were not quite clinical enough and I think there was an element of luck that kept the score 1-1 courtesy of 2x own-goals, one inside 20 minutes to make it 1 nil to Derby and a late equaliser with barely 5 mins + stoppage time on the clock. It was a sickener because Derby deserved to thump them. Have a look on the BBC for the stats in the last game.
Last week we had the mother of all horrible fixtures, Sheff Utd at home, WBA away and Borough away – in 8 days, basically top 3 sides. Pre-kick-off last week, I’d of took 4 or 5 pts from those games all day long but Derby really have lived up to their October reputation ( the renowned purple patch ). The last league game we lost was in 2016 against Huddersfield. English league football is now going to have to wait until 2019 to burst that bubble.
We were a Derby goal shy of getting all 4 of my Derby bets up, sadly again it took until very late on to scrape a few pts back with the WBA equaliser. Leeds also never followed the script and from what I have learned, were lucky to get a point for a 1-1. Close but no cigar.
Now there’s the small matter of the league cup fixture that Frank Lampard has been dreaming of before our name was pulled out of the hat to face Man Utd in the previous round. ANOTHER league cup fixture away from home, that’s 4 now, but this time Lampard’s dream fixture is happening.
This past 3 league Derby fixtures + the way we conducted our football against Man Utd means regardless of the score-line, Derby will not be travelling to Stamford Bridge for a nice day out. When the draw was made, I thought ” oh sh*t ” Hazard is going to cut us to pieces. – I’ve heard he is a doubt for tonight. Plus, Chelsea do have bigger fish to fry – the premiership + champions league places for next season and the current Europa league campaign to prioritize. I’m sure Chelsea have the manpower to brush us aside but it isn’t really until the next round that the big teams start fielding full strength sides. This might give Derby another chance to grab a scalp of the big-boys. Burton managed it last night against Forest , so stranger things have happened.
Chelsea’s generous season long loans of Mount and Tomori have paid dividends for the Rams and we’ve been given the green light to play them against their parent club. If they have a stormer, it will prick the ears up of the Chelsea boss and we could see them getting a sniff of first team football with the London club. We’ll see.
Derby are playing with a bit of confidence now, this game is really meaningless but gives us a yard-stick to judge our team against the likes of another top premiership side and although I do not expect anybody to follow my lead and dropping £10 on Derby win and btts, I shall be doing it purely because IF it comes off and I have not put a few quid on it, I’ll kick myself. This isn’t a bet with my heart or brain, it’s a bet with some reasoning Yes – we’ll concede, but we’ve more than competed in our last 3 league games + Man Utd away and if that missing 1% finds its way into our game tonight, Derby really could put the wind up them tonight.

    Good luck tonight folks.

    • Cups game dominate today such as German, French, Austria, Croatia and English EFL
As we learned yesterday cup games are a disaster and can even proof very profitable or very bad as most favourites have the lines set far too high and bookies give nothing away in them

One cup I can focus on however is the famous French cup as i normally do well in France and I do league 2 on a Friday night anyway thanks to @greg. I have spent my morning hung over and listening to my boss talk **it

3 teams I have been recording figures on are Troyes (done in numerous naps) , le havre and Lorient.

today I will be taking a 1.5 goals treble on all 3 in the cup.

    ⚽Le Havre v Troyes⚽

last 5 at home for havre all seen over 1.5 and all BTS – 2-1.2-3.1-1.3-1.3-3
    last 5 troyes away all saw 1.5 – 0-2.0-3.1-1.2-0.2-0
    h2h all saw bts and 1.5 – 1-1.2-1.1-3.2-2.3-2.

good enough for me at 3/10

    ⚽Toulouse v Lorient⚽

    last 5 at home saw 1.5 achieved – 0-3.1-1.2-3.1-1.2-1
    last 5 away saw 4 from 5 but high scoring – 3-2.2-3.2-0.0-3.0-1
h2h saw 4 out of 5 and 4 were all BTS also 1-1.3-2.1-1.2-3.0-1

    Morning gents,

Pleased to see the Argentinian goal gamble paid off last night and I’ll be staying in South America for this evening’s pick – it’s destination Montevideo for a Copa Sudamericana quarter final 2nd leg and once again it’s not numbers of goals I’m interested in but who’s going to get them and more importantly when…

    NACIONAL VS. FLUMINENSE (2230 KO):

All about Urugayan giants Nacional’s home form here – it’s a pretty damn impressive record with just 1 home loss in 27 and that to local rivals Montevideo Wanderers.

A frustrated Fluminense outfit will be out for revenge after conceding a late, late equaliser in the 1st leg but the Uruguayan’s are no mugs and will make life incredibly difficult for the travelling Brasilians.

Not one that’s likely to see many goals but I reckon Nacional will find the net and the shaky away form of Fluminense adds to the cause:

    NACIONAL GOAL BEFORE 57:00…5/6
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟

    NACIONAL WINNING MARGIN 1 GOAL…12/5
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟

    Best of luck 👍

A goal & 4 corners each half at 2 live Scottish games on BT at Dundee & Hearts pays 9/1. That’s my main bet f9r today with the usual longshots on. Had both games in Carabbou usual combo and cards let it down at 350/1. Same again tonight pays 1500/1 almost wi Skybet

The tinterweb gremlins ate my last Chelsea/Derby preview, so i’ll summarize and condense.
Derby drew at the weekend but dominated Middlesbrough in a game that should of been done and dusted by halftime. Both goals were own goals and it took Borough until barely 5 mins on the clock to get the equalizer. Leeds also let me down surprising that they struggled at home to Forest. A Derby and Leeds goal shy of a juicy set of bets. Oh well, that’s football.
Before Derby kicked a ball 3 matches back, any Derby fan would of hoped for a return of maybe 4 or 5 pts, the late equalizer at the Riverside meant 7pts from 9 and made our points tally a bit more respectable. The games we’ve played and against who ( Man Utd ) in the league cup have been on paper recently (sheff utd @ home, WBA away, Borough away ) and now Chelski away – most other teams would of struggled to get a single draw.
Before that League cup draw to Man Utd, Lampards dream fixture was vs Chelski at Stamford bridge. Nobody gave us a prayer against Man Utd, but even though they were wasteful in the final third, Derby never took the trip to Old Trafford for a ” nice day out ” – we competed all over the pitch. Overturned a 4th minute goal, deservedly equalized, their keeper was sent off for deliberately handballing outside the area and almost a late winner – the party was spoiled by a dubious Fellaini header in the 5th minute of 6 mins of stoppage time. ( he had his hands on the shoulders of the Derby defender to rise above him ) – that’s a foul !! It bust my bet but the penalties made up for it. On we march to tonight.
I dreaded the possibility of facing Eden Hazard, just had the feeling he’d steal the show, BUT he’s probably not available. Cheslki have more than enough to field a strong side, and compete in the Premiership race + Europa league, but will they see this as a minor cup? Most big teams don’t field full sides until they’re either out of the running for all the other silverware OR it is down to the last remaining 8 teams. I think Chelsea will try out a few fringe players tonight and although Derby need to respect them, we certainly shouldn’t fear them. If Derby can find that missing 1% that we’ve been lacking all the way through the last handful of matches + a little luck and 14/1 with most bookies for a Derby win is looking BIG. We’re starting to click as a team now, and with Chelski honourably giving us the green light to play Tomori and Mount against their parent club, this might just be a good night to be a Derby fan.
Lampard always fields a side to compete in everything, he’s still not convinced we’re the finished article and Lampard got the better of his former boss Mourhino in the previous round – all be it from penalties. Burton did the job on Forest last night and Chelski have bigger fish to fry than this cup. Come February, the outcome of a cup run within the league cup will clutter up your fixture list.
I don’t expect anyone to follow my lead here, but I’m dropping £10 with coral @ 20/1 for Derby to win and btts.
Btts is surely going to deliver again, but I’m looking at how we have evolved as a team and maybe tonight we may see that missing 1% for Derby to get the job done. It wouldn’t be a bad thing for either side to lose tonight but I think it would benefit Derby more if we did sneak through to the last 8.

    Good luck folks.

What a grand job Steve Clarke has and continues to do at Killie! Solitary figure so I was when flagging him up as replacement for McCarthy! ‘Not a manager, a number 2!’…..yeah whatever! Watched him play full back for Chelsea many times, knew his limitations but stuck superbly to what he was good at! His management style mirrors his playing times! Very underrated south of the Scottish border! 👍

Europe taking its toll, its bound to given the team is not used to playing in Europe.Fans have to be patient though because if Rangers progress to the next stage then they will earn mega bucks and will be able to buy better players.Steven Gerrard is the right man to take Rangers forward thats for sure. The team is in transition and it will take two to three seasons before Rangers are competing if not overtaking Celtic by winning league titles.Fans have to be patient otherwise manager after manager will worsen the clubs position. It is a long term plan

Europe and the lack of quality might have something to do with performances,if Gerrard gets Rangers into the knockout rounds of Europe and earns the club big money then next season he can buy better quality players hence challenging Celtic. If Rangers are to be successful then they need to be patient as do the fans.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit

After the losses announced yesterday Rangers need more than European money.
You use the word patience and that’s a huge problem.
Rangers fans have suffered for years and won’t wait much longer to catch Celtic.
Gerrard has maybe underestimated the mood a little – losing the semi-final on SUnday was massive and league points should be the priority over a run in Europe.
Having said I think overall he’s done well – if it wasn’t for the expectations at Rangers he’d be getting praised all round.

    Halliday

No signal in Ibrox so couldn’t post but for future reference if people are interested, these players like a card on a regular basis. I only managed Broadfoot before signal went but noticed morelos price, jack and halliday would likely have been higher odds
