Top Football Tips

I HOPE everyone had a good Christmas and I'm looking forward to a chill-out day watching a bit of football.

There's a cracking Boxing Day card north and south of the border and plenty of previews posted from the regulars as well as tips from Greg Browning, HullShaker and Scott Allot.

Big games include Liverpool v Newcastle and Leicester v Man City while the highlight north of the border is the 2pm live TV showdown between Aberdeen and Celtic.

I posting my Top Treble last night – Man Utd -1 at home to Huddersfield, Stoke +1 at Birmingham and Kilmarnock +1 at Motherwell – and I've added my others.

The Super Single is an Oxford side in good form and with five home wins in row against a Southend outfit who have suffered four away defeats on the bounce.

My last moneyback fivefold came in at 17-1 and today's is a less ambitious 7-1 effort. This is a day when bookies will fear the big six winning and a sixfold on Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal pays a biggest 7-1 with McBookie but one will probably let us down – maybe Chelsea at Watford or Arsenal at Brighton.

The others should be a shoe-in and on my fivefold I have Man Utd at home to Huddersfield and Spurs at home to Bournemouth. Liverpool are just too short for this line.

Instead I've taken Crystal Palace to make it three wins in a row when Cardiff visit and adding Championship high-fliers Leeds at home to Blackburn and West Brom at home to Wigan. I wouldn't put anyone of taking Norwich at home to Nottingham Forest. That would be wins for the top three in the second tier.

    Evening gents,

The Boxing Day card is always one that’s brimming with choice and whilst that isn’t always a good thing for the bettor, it does at least mean that there’s quality value if you can scour the card hard enough.

I’ve looked at pretty much everything in England and aside from a ‘belt n braces’ longshot I’ll put up later, I just keep coming back to a few selections from our game in Nottinghamshire…

    MANSFIELD TOWN VS. BURY:

Come May, I’d be very surprised if both The Shakers and The Stags weren’t in the promotion mix-up, and ex-bury lad David Flitcroft, has plenty of potential in his squad to cause us damage as we make the journey over the ‘tops’.

Our 4-2 defeat at Oldham came totally out of leftfield and proved that despite our offensive threat, we are still susceptible at the back – a 2-1 defeat of Tranmere restored some order but Mansfield will perhaps prove a tough nut to crack having lost just once at home in their last 11.

Goal-wise, Field Mill has been as good as Gigg for goals; The Stags have hit 2-2-0-4-4-3-5-1-4-2 team goals in successive games on home soil and although our away scoring record can’t match our home form, we have certainly held the hoodoo over Mansfied at their spot having won 5, drawn 2 and lost 0 of the most recent 7 H2H’s…even more notably, we have scored in 100% of our last 6 Mansfield away days.

So, with the likelyhood of goals (and early goals) looking good and the fact that I can’t see either team failing to find the net – a few bets stand out:

    BTTS & OVER 2.5 MGS…6/5
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

    BTTS 1ST HALF…10/3
    (Bet365)
    🌟

    BTTS BOTH HALVES…14/1
    (Bet365)
    🌟

    JAY O’SHEA ATGS…4/1
    (Bet365)
    🌟

    ****************************************

    BELT N BRACES TREBLE:

This was intended as a much more speculative team goals bet but I’ve fined it down to three after ruling out the others for one reason or another…what started out as a 7 team smaller stake bet now sits as a much higher stake treble:

    LIVERPOOL
    TNS
    EBBSFLEET

    OVER 1.5 TGS…1.7/1
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

Best of luck with all bets 👍

AFTER a few quiet days, football returns with a bang with a busy UK card and matches from Serie A. Had a good look at the Boxing Day fixtures and there are a number of home teams I fancy.

    🔹Hearts v Hamilton (3pm)

Craig Levein has had plenty to say about results and referees over the last few months but one thing is for sure, he can’t have any excuses come 4.45pm today.

From being top of the league, the Jambos have nosedived and although that coincides with the loss of key players to injury, they still have a good enough squad to be beating the likes of Hamilton.

Tynecastle is no longer the fortress it was with Celtic, Rangers and Kilmarnock all leaving with three points recently. But they don’t lose many at home to the league’s bottom-six sides and with Hamilton losing seven of their last nine on the road (failed to score in six of those) they should get a much-needed three points.

    🔹Crystal Palace v Cardiff City (3pm)

It’s been a fantastic December for Palace – back-to-back wins against Leicester and Man City all of sudden make things look much rosier at Selhurst Park.

Saturday’s win against City was as outstanding as it was surprising and they have a great opportunity to make it a hat-trick of wins against the league’s whipping boys on the road.

Cardiff’s away record in the league is appalling. P8 W0 D1 L7 – 1 point from a possible 24 will probably be the reason they end up going back to the Championship.

Palace will be absolutely brimming with confidence after beating City and a noisy Boxing Day home crowd should roar them on to another three points against a travel-sick Cardiff.

    🔹WBA v Wigan (3pm)

After an early-season blip, West Brom have roared back with 17 points from their last 21 (5 wins 2 draws) and are now right back in the hunt for automatic promotion.

A big factor in that is the goal return from their two strikers. Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez have 23 goals between and you have to fear for this Wigan side who have won just once in their last 10 matches.

Like a few sides I’ve looked at backing against today, Wigan collect the majority of their points at home. Their away form is shocking (4 points from 11 matches, 9 defeats, 1 win, 1 draw).

Really hard to make a case against WBA today, given their current form, place in the league and an opponent who struggle away. Those struggles should continue for Wigan today against a potent strikeforce.

    Recommended Bets

I really like the look of all three sides, especially, Palace and WBA – Hearts would be the only worry given their recent woes but should still have enough about them to beat Hamilton.

    Crystal Palace to beat Cardiff
    WBA to beat Wigan
    8/5 (Marathonbet) (NAP)

Add Hearts to make a 3/1 treble

    ***********************************
    🔹Dundee v Livingston (KO 3pm)

I’ve seen plenty of these two sides this season and the bookies are certainly giving Livingston the respect they deserve by pricing Dundee as big as 3/1 despite being the home side.

Not a game I would touch in terms of the outcome as Livi will come here with confidence after their draw at Hibs and are more than capable of getting a result but most of their good work is done at home.

Dundee chucked their game against Celtic by resting key men with more winnable games than a trip to Celtic park on the horizon.

They did find a bit of form but that was ended by a trips to the leagues form sides in Celtic and Kilmarnock so be keen to see how they get on today in a match they feel they can win.

Kenny Miller who was rested at Celtic will come back into the team and will be their main threat. Dundee are big price and whilst I couldn’t back them against a good Livi side, they are more than capable of scoring.

    Recommended Bet

    Dundee Goal before 76 Mins
    5/6 (Bet365)

They are 4/7 just to score at Coral which is a good value in my opinion.

🔹English Premier League – Goals Treble

Don’t need to say too much on these. City will be hurting after Saturday’s defeat and we should see a reaction. Man U should kick on from their hammering of Cardiff and Spurs looked on fire at Everton.

    Leicester City v Man City
    Man United v Huddersfield
    Tottenham v Bournemouth

    Over 2.5 match goals treble
    33/10 (MarathonBet)

Don’t forget the first half goals and over 1.5 match goals in League 1 and 2 – been getting close

Ballymena are currently on a club record unbeaten run and on paper should win but this is a derby game against neighbours Coleraine, who will surely raise their game.
There was a bit of niggle between the sides from their last match in September, I’d expect another fiercely contested match with a few cards.
      Ballymena DNB 4/5.

Tough day for Derby away to Sheff Utd. This is the reverse fixture of the Derby 2-1 home win a few months ago. I don’t think Sheff Utd have been as dangerous as they were last year, but they’re still doing something right even though their recent results are hardly worth shouting about.
Last time out, Derby came from a goal down at home to Bristol to draw 1-1. We should of done better and I feel its 2 Derby pts dropped. Some players were rested for that game, I guess Lampard is managing the squad, just a shame we’re not quite clicking in the last 3rd. After 2 clean sheets, Bristol stopped that mini-run in their tracks. We went 15 straight games where we conceded and although Tomori did remarkably well to nullify Forest’s Lewis Grabben. Same old same old Derby came back with the 1-1 at home to Bristol. Derby’s conceding looks worse than it is, I think we’ve the 3rd or 4th tightest defence in the championship but we’ve hit a rough patch of starting slowly. Around half of the last 16 or so games, we’ve conceded first – a worry.
Last season we went to Bramell lane full of form and got battered 4-1. The irony is that 87th minute goal the night McGregor got beaten by Mayweather, well that Derby goal set me up for 7 out of 7 with just Mayweather to do the biz for a £3890 payout. It was my first bet with betfair. Cher-ching.
Not confident of a Derby win but with an away trip to Norwich looming, Derby really need to lay down a marker in Sheffield. We’ll make changes and it may be enough to steal the party, but I’m not expecting fireworks.
Stats suggest this match has all the markings of a btts, but I like the Derby double result around 3/4- 8/11 with bet365. That’s where my money is going.
Anyway, best of luck folks, I really hope someone cleans up tomorrow.
    I fancy:
    Man Utd -1
    Man City win
    Tottenham win
    Derby double result
    West Brom win
    Celtic win.

    Its around 13/1 with bet365

Well it’s Carrarese time after a few games off and their at home to Virtus Entella with both sides having only failed too score twice this season. Goals stats as its goals bets….

    Carrarese v Virtus Entella

Carrarese have scored in 16/18 & conceded in 14/18 with 13 seeing BTTS. They’ve scored in 8/8 homes and conceded in 6 with 6 BTTS. They’ve scored 43 & conceded 26 at an average of 3.83mgls per game & at home that average rises too 4.25gls.

The away side have scored in 11/13 & conceded in 7/13 with 7 seeing BTTS. They’ve scored in 5/6 aways & conceded in 5 with 4 BTTS. They’ve scored 20 & conceded 11 for an average of 2.38gls per game and that rises to 2.5gls on away days.

BTTS is 4/6 but with all 8 of Carrarese home games seeing 3+ ill go with the following

    Super Single

    Ballymena v Coleraine
    Ballymena Win @ 6/5 Skybet
Coleraines form has been inconsistent since losing manager Oran Kearney to Scottish Premiership side St Mirren in September losing recently to poorer sides Newry and Warrenpoint and getting hammered in most recent away 4-0 at Glenavon whilst Ballymena who sit top are unbeaten in 17 and winning last 12 simply look a big price given their form. Price is based more on the fact that this boxing day derby is usually a tight close game which Ballymena havent won in last 8 meetings but Coleraine were the better side in those past meetings which is most definitely reversed this time. I take Ballymena to win a close game in this one at a decent price. Good Luck.

    Torino v Empoli btts 4-5
    Double just over 2-1 (betway)
Watched highlights of Man Utd and it was a completely different team, can see them coming out like a train for his first home game in charge (also think Man Utd to score 2 or more 1St half goals is value at 23-10 with paddypower)
Torino have scored in every home game except against Juventus this season, Empoli have scored in every game home and away since 6th October, and conceded in every one of them too….4-5 btts looks good value. Here’s hoping. Good luck all with your bets today and hope you all had a cracking day yesterday 👍

    Morning all

Happy xmas to everyone and best of luck for today, im on the following two bets

    3pm NAP

Starting off with Burton v Wycombe. Burton sitting 5th in the table for corners and average 6.10 a game themselves and concede an average of 4.52 against them. They have 128 corners in 21 games and an extra game isn’t added yet. 1/3 is serious value for me

    5 Burton 21 128 95 6.10 4.52
Next up is the 2 most attacking sides and corner kings of league 2 in BURY AND MK DONS
Stats are off the chart for these 2 and again 6 a game each but 2 lower lines of 7 have represented value at 2/9 each. Have to agree with these stats and I am backing the treble to get me 0.99/1 in what I feel should be a safe NAP.

    1 Milton Keynes Dons 21 139 115 6.62 5.48
    2 Bury 22 144 94 6.55 4.27

Over 8 corners at BURTON V WYCOMBE 1/3
Over 7 corners at MANSFIELD V BURY 2/9
Over 7 corners at CHELTENHAM V MK DONS 2/9

The combined price is effectively evens as 0.99/1

    £50 pays £99.59

next up im on a 4 fold paying 5/1 exact with will hill

    c palace
    west brom
    hearts
    leeds

    £20 pays £124.06 now

    *your health is your wealth*

Small £10 on Bury to win at 21/10 with toals.com. price just too big for me too ignore in a 50-50 game

Very tempting to go betting crazy today but stick to what you know and you should get a good run for your money. Most of my selections include Man Utd, possibly relying on them too much but they will put on a show at home surely.

I think it was two or three years ago when all the favs won which was a disaster for bookies but brilliant for puntera. Today could be the same.if everything runs to the script.

Ibrox for me this afternoon, simply have to win to set Saturday up. Worried about our injuries which result in a lack of creativity. Could be a tight game.

Merry merry peeps. Over 2.5 goal double at Utd & Spuds (2.59). Corner in the 1st 10 min at Arsenal & Spuds games (2.61). Same at Leicester & Liverpool (2.30). Double: Arsenal & Chelsea No Clean Sheet (2.16).
Well Utd been a laughing stock for a while now & something had to be done. I said way back that Fergie was partly to blame & that’s even more evident now. He left Moyes with a poor ageing squad. Yes they won the premier league but they struggled badly in Europe & there was no thought of the long-term at all. Compare it to Arsenal & how easily Emery has stepped in after Wenger’s long reign. He left the Gunners in far better shape! Anyways interesting times ahead.

    UFC 232:
The main event could go anyway and will be a cracker! Gustafsson is a beast & arguably beat Jones the 1st time around. Just gonna take the fight not to go the distance (1.83). Cyborg by KO/TKO (1.80). Yan/Zingano double (2.27).

Future double: Askren/Whittaker (evens). Big stake on this. I took this already but I see the Askren fight has been moved & the market removed but it should appear shortly again. Whittaker shouldn’t have any issues dealing with Gastelum. Askren is a beast! Probably the only guy who can match Khabib & hopefully they can set the fight up in the future. Enjoy

      PDC World Champs:
      West/Van Den Bergh double (2.02). Double: Lewis +3.5 & Dobey +3.5 (1.81). Lewis/Chizzy match: Over 134.5 checkout (1.83), Over 16.5 180’s (evens). Alcina/Smith/Anderson/MVG all to win (2.47).

a tougher looking game than most would imagine for TUFC today at home to truro city. ideally i’d have been there today, but mum decided she wanted to head north for the festivities this year!

hopeful of a narrow victory, maybe 2-1 or 3-1, there will almost certainly be goals tho, so win/over will be my nap, a very poor 3/5!

cant believe we are 1/5 to win, don’t think i can ever remember us being such a slim price!! maybe value in truro goal or them in the handicaps ??

Arsenal cannot keep a CS on the road – although they could become the first team to score at least twice in their 9 away games in the EPL.
