Porto's crown has slipped in Portugal over the last few years and they'll be looking to put up more of a fight in the Primeria Liga this season.

Having won the title 12 times since season 2002/03, Porto have come a distant third behind the Lisbon giants in the last two campaigns.

So they will be looking to mount a genuine challenge for glory this season, starting with tonight's opener at home to Vitoria Guimaraes.

Porto vs Vitoria Guimaraes top betting tips

You can almost set your watch by Vitoria Guimaraes, with the club finishing either fifth, sixth or seventh in the last seven seasons.

They've been a thorn into Porto's side at the Estadio Dragao of late, claiming a 1-1 draw and a 2-1 victory on their last two visits. But BoyleSports don't fancy their chances tonight, with the home win priced at just 4/7 and a Vitoria victory paying 11/2.

It will be interesting to see if Porto have a hangover from playing in the Club World Cup, although their American adventure didn't last long as they bowed out at the end of the group stage.

Their final game was a 4-4 draw with Al Ahly, so going for goals might be a smart move here, especially with Vitoria scoring on their last two visits to Oporto. BTTS pays just 8/11 at BoyleSports but adding on over 2.5 goals boosts the odds to 6/5.

We saw 13 corners when Vitoria visited last term, with a further 11 in the other meeting in Guimaraes. So that makes overr 10.5 corners a good option tonight at 13/10 with BoyleSports.

HJK Helsinki vs Ilves

HJK Helsinki have seen their season go off the rails in recent weeks so they'll be desperate to bounce back with a win when Ilves come calling tonight.

The Finns have claimed just one win in their last four matches, a run that has seen them crash out of Europe and fall 11 points behind Finnish leaders Inter Turku.

Inter thrashed them 4-1 in Helsinki last Monday, with HJK suffering a hangover after the agony of bowing out of the Conference League on penalties to Bulgarian side Arda.

The capital club now have only domestic football to concentrate on and a win tonight would move them into fifth, just a point behind Ilves.

But the visitors have plenty of incentive themselves as three points would move them up to second and cut the gap on Inter Turku to just four points.

This should be a close one, with Ilves edging a 3-2 win at home when these sides faced off earlier in the season. That result suggests we will see some goals and backing over 3.5 strikes pays 5/4 at BoyleSports.

Ilves' last two league games have seen heaps of corners, with tallies of 24 and 18, so going for over 11.5 corners could pay off at 11/8 with BoyleSports. I'm more drawn to the 7/5 at Bet365 for over five first-half corners.

Elfsborg vs Varnamo

Elfsborg are hanging on in there in the Swedish title race but can ill afford to drop any points when they host rock-bottom Varnamo tonight.

Oscar Hiljemark's men trail leaders Mjallby by 11 points but this is their game in hand so they will be desperate to close the gap at the summit.

Varnamo have won just one of their 18 league games this season and find themselves seven points adrift at the foot of the table.

It would be a major surprise if they shocked Elfsborg tonight and BoyleSports make them 9/2 outsiders. But the strugglers can take some heart from the fact they held Elfsborg to a 0-0 draw when these sides last faced off in late June.

Varnamo have scored in the last three games and ran second-placed Hammarby close in a 3-2 loss a couple of weeks ago. So an Elfsborg win with BTTS might be the shout here at 7/4 with BoyleSports.

Frederik Ihler sits on seven goals for the season for Elfsborg so the Dane could be worth a punt for anytime scorer at 57/50 with Unibet.

Monday's Super Singles

  • Over 10.5 corners in Porto v Vitoria 13/10 BoyleSports
  • Over five first-half corners in HJK Helsinki v Ilves 7/5 Bet365
  • Elfsborg's Frederik Ihler to score 57/50 Unibet
