Thursday, Parkhead, 7.45pm

CELTIC may have wrapped up the title but looked in clinical mood with a 3-0 demolition of Rangers at the weekend.

A visit from St Johnstone is likely to produce a less fervoured atmosphere and it will be interesting to see what side of the champions we get on the park.

Will it be the one that put on a super show to see off Rangers at the weekend or the one that lost to Hearts in the Scottish Cup semi-final? Don't expect a display as good as the last but in the end 50,000 fans will turn up looking to enjoy the night and continue to mock rivals Rangers' fall from grace.

I reckon Celtic will notch a comfortable if not spectacular win, maybe 2-0 or 3-0. They are a best 4-11 at Ladbrokes to pick up the points with Saints as big as 9-1 at Coral.

Gary Hooper hit a belter in the Old Firm derby but is rested with Mo Bangura given a rare start.

For me it's between him and Kris Commons for the deadlock breaker. Commons' confidence should be back after his fine strike against Rangers and he is 7-1 at Ladbrokes and Betfred to score first and 2-1 with Ladbrokes at any time.

Charlie Mulgrew headed a fine opener in the Old Firm derby and is 9-2 at Skybet to celebrate his Player of the Year success by hitting the net. Just to score he is 14-1 with Ladbrokes and Betfred.

Saints will be again without top scorer Fran Sandaza and that's bad news against a side who have only conceded six goals in 17 home games this season – winning 15 of them.

Celtic on 2-0 at Parkhead last month and in the last five meetings only side has scored – Celtic in four of them.

To win to nil Celtic are 11-10 at Ladbrokes and 5-6 at Ladbrokes and Paddy Power minus one goal.

Recommendations

Commons to score first

(7-1, Ladbrokes)

Commons to score

(7-4, Ladbrokes, Betfred)

Celtic -1

(5-6, bet365)

Celtic to win to nil

(11-10, Ladbrokes)

Mr f what do u think of the goalscorer match bet? On 888 Hooper is 8/11 to score anytime, 1/1 for Hooper goal and celtic to win but u get 11/10 for hooper to outscore sandaza. Surely value in that for a fair punt on a single?

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Joe, Hooper to outscore Sandaza is a great bet because as I’ve pointed out he’s suspended!!!!

  2. joe knotts 12 years ago

9/5 for commons on paddy power. Fancy him to score myself as he seems to score in bursts.

  3. joe knotts 12 years ago

Haha nice 1!! Im getting on it before 888 realise their mistake :)

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Joe, doesn’t matter. It’s a void bet if both don’t start.

  4. James C 12 years ago

This is definitely one to hold back on until the teams are announced. I reckon Celtic will rotate a little tonight, with potential starts for Dylan McGeough, Paddy McCourt and Anthony Stokes.

Hooper is likely to start due to only being one ahead of Daly at the top of the scoring charts but Tony Watt will see some playing time, as will young Twardzik.

Dammit wish i read your last post before i put the£32 quid i had lying in my 888 account on it!!

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Joe, sorry I thought you’d know that. It’s why I put all the exclamation marks on the end of my first reply.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Joe, also if you call them now and tell them he’s definitely not playing I’m sure they could refund you straight away.

  6. joe knotts 12 years ago

Haha nae bother mr f. Got a nice wee moneypot in my pp account. I can use that tonight and wait for my refund. Also got a couple of tenner free bets on 888 account for multiple promotion so i will get my betting fix tonight!! :)

celtic -2 looks good to me

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

David, I’m going with -1 but wouldn’t be surprised if -2 came up as well.

    Celtic to win 4 – 0

  9. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Jow Hooper is 10/11 to score anytime with hills

  10. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Joe sometimes bookies can be funny about voiding bets and will only do do in an error and at their discretion I.e you staked the wrong amount. Just tell them you tried to bet £3.20, that should work and at least you would get your £28 the now lol.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Chris, they have to void that bet because Sandaza won’t play. They have no choice and I don’t think he’ll have any problem with it. If he does he knows who to contact!

  11. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Yeah Paul I know they’ll void it but they might wait until after the match has finished as they won’t know he is not playing, hence the reason they are doing Goalscorer match bet. I once put £100 on a player and had second thoughts about my stake. I phoned them up and told them I only wanted £50 on it and asked them to either change the bet to £50 or if it was easier to void the bet completely and I would have then stuck £50 on it. They were being extremely awkward with me victor chandler. It was on a first scorer at 8/1. I was so annoyed that they didn’t void the bet that I stick a further £50 on the player which won me an additional £400. So it cost the bookies an extra £800. I had great delight in phoning them the following day.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Chris, yeah probably will wait until the game’s finished. The situation you refer to is different and I think once you a place bet that’s going to be active you shouldn’t be able to change it.

  12. joe knotts 12 years ago

Ok thanx for the info guys

  13. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Paul seen some interesting prices mate, what you think?

A goal in both halves 4/6 at Coral

Celtic to be winning 2-0 at any point evs at Lads

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Chris, they look not bad. I’ve also done Celtic to win both halves, 2-1 Paddy Power.

  14. joe knotts 12 years ago

Celtic short odds and play off looks tight so just a few wee puntd tonight. Commons and Cole anytime scorer double. West ham to win race to five corners and celtic to score three or more double. Cardiff and West Ham to draw and celtic to be leading at thirty mins double. Good luck all :)

  15. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Paul I know I’m a bit ahead of myself here but I just checked for Celtic’s weekeng game against Dundee Utd. Couldnt help but notice the 10/1 price with Bet365 for Wanyama to score at anytime. General price elsewhere is between 9/2 and 6/1.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Chris, that’s too far into the future for me.

  16. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

I’m starting to warm to Commons first goal. Insure about backing him to score at anytime Cos the past 2 games had has been subbed and I think he will be one of the players switched around to give some of the other players a chance. 7/1 is a good priced though, might back him first and last.

I’ve never been so indecisive on a Goalscorer. Had also considered Brown. If Hooper starts then he might be the one to back at a standout price of 7/2. I will go to the bookies shortly and wait for the team news.

  17. joe knotts 12 years ago

As i said before i fancy commons as he seems to score in bursts. Brown also a decent shout as penalty taker. Celtic do have goals from back to front.Defenders scored recently then u have mulgrew, ledley, mccourt if he starts, ki, stokes the list goes on. Better to see team i suppose and go with your gut instinct. I went with commons but one thing we do know is sandaza wont outscore hooper!! Lol

  18. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Paul just lumped £100 on Celtic to win both halves. Quite a good price but had been cut from 23/10. Ladbrokes is only 5/4!

Just waiting for team line up now

  19. McGart 12 years ago

CELTIC (4-4-2) Zaluska; M Wilson, Rogne, K Wilson, Izaguirre; McGeouch, Wanyama, Ledley, Commons; Stokes, Bangura
Subs: Forster, Brozek, Lustig, Blackman, Ibrahim, Cha, Hooper

  20. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Thanks McGart, commons it is then

  21. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Ok my friends I’m doing the following:

    £50 Commons first goal @ 7/1
    £50 Commons last goal @ 7/1

£50 double commons and cole anytime.

£100 Celtic to win both halves.

With Scott Brown not playing I’m hoping Commons will hit the penalties although it may be stokes.

By the way at kick off I’m turning off my phone and not going in Facebook as I want to watch the game later. It’s on channel 168 if you have Sky it’s on bbc alba at 10pm in gaelic of course.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Chris, I noticed it was delayed on ALBA. If Commons scores we’ll round the pigeon.

  22. McGart 12 years ago

Should be in with a shout there, commons looked sharp and up for it last weekend. You could tell he was gonna score. Will be hoping for more of the same tonight although i was looking at a little outsider and wanyama always slips under the radar. Mind you I never have any luck with goal scorers! Game will be shown on bbc alba tonight 10pm

  23. Willie McGuire 12 years ago

small bet- £10 on 2nd half having most goals at 7/4

  24. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Stokes first goal. Hopefully Commons will get last goalscorer. At least Celtic to win both halves is still running.

  25. Christopher Dawika 12 years ago

Stokes first goal. Hopefully Commons will get last goalscorer. At least Celtic to win both halves is still running.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Chris, not a call I’d like to make without watching it live.

  26. Mattysmev 12 years ago

Paul or anyone, what happens if you have Celtic -2 in a treble. 1st 2 come in and waiting on Celtic -2. If they win 1-0 I loose. 3-0 I win. But what if it’s 2-0???

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

2-0 and you lose because that would make it 2-2.

  27. Christopher Dawika 12 years ago

Mr Fixit ,,celtic made the 3 corner swing in just 5 mins after your comment below lol!!,,,now leading 4-3 in corners! get in there!!

  28. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

Come on Celtic get the finger out. Get another goal!!

  29. joe knotts 12 years ago

Got two right tonight – west ham first to five corners and celtic winning at thirty mins. Bad thing is they were on different doubles!! :(

  30. Mr Chris Guy 12 years ago

So disappointed Celtic. Rangers going bust and they can still pull off a 5-0 win over united. Think I’ll go to bed early now, won’t be watching the game.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Chris, watched some of it online, Celtic dominated but kept missing chances.

  31. James C 12 years ago

I was at the game. Bangura was poor and broke up a lot of the play. Hooper also poked a rabiu shot over the line from an offside position when it was going in anyway.

Celtic had most of the play but it had a very end of season feel to it and -1 never really looked like happening.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

James, I heard Hooper touched in a shot that was going in anyway and that got it ruled out. I didn’t fancy much more than Celtic to win or to win to nil after seeing the starting line-up and it’s why people should sometimes hold off having a bet.

  32. Fin H 12 years ago

Hey Paul or anyone else who can help. Bit of advice please, been following your tips for a while now and only recently started perming bets. I understand how they work now, but should u only perm on selections of evens or better, also if the odds are higher are you better off doing a yankee or lucky 15? For example this week i took, Newcastle, Hibernain, Dunfermline, StMirren and Dundee Utd (all quite high odds), I went for £2 fourfolds and a fivefold. So I lost, had i went for a £1 Yankee or lucky 15 I would of won, but prob just my money back, am i right? Also, just pretend Dunfermline or Dundee Utd had won, or pretend they both won, how much more would you win from permimg your selections for fourfolds and a fivefolds than doing a yankee or a lucky 15 equal to that stake, is it a significant difference? Hope this makes sense, cheers.

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Fin, when doing a perm the payout will be less than it would have been on a straight accer if all your selections win. And you’re right the higher the odds the more permutations you can do. For example there is no point perming at prices such as 1-2 or 1-3. If taking into account the possibility of two losers then it’s catered better for outsiders, aways, first scorers and that sort of thing. Mess about with an online odds calculator and you’ll see all the outcomes you want.

  33. Fin H 12 years ago

Cheers Paul, hopefully get back to winning ways this wknd after a poor run. Well and truly hit the bar with my 156-1 shot of 6 spl homes last week. Was quite confident about Dundee Utd aswell, nevermind. Get a big win soon!
