THERE were plenty of candidates for the Betway Enhanced Treble this weekend so hopefully I've gone for the right ones.

Sides on my shortlist included Birmingham, Wigan, Leicester, Orient, Dunfermline and Stranraer but in the end I've gone for Middlesbrough, Scunthorpe and St Johnstone.

So let's start with Middlesbrough at home to Charlton after four wins in six under new boss Aitor Karanka.

He's improved Boro and brought in Kenneth Omeruo and Nathaniel Chalobah on loan from Chelsea and should see off a side who have made a habit of drawing.

Scunthorpe don't need much explanation and have won four of their last five to nil to charge to the top of League Two. The other was a draw at Bury.

Complete the treble with St Johnstone at home to Hearts and it's worth backing against the Jambos every week as they struggle to fill jerseys.

Saints have beaten Hearts twice to nil this season and last week the Perth men were 2-0 victors over St Mirren at home but by all accounts it should have been more.

Gary Locke's visitors have lost eight out of nine and netted just twice in six games. It's difficult to see where their next strike will come from with winger Jamie Walker added to the injury list.

The treble paid £43.70 to a £10 stake at Betway and has been enhanced to 4-1.

Remember to comment on the end of this article for a chance to win a £10 free bet with Betway. Win-draw-win bets only (no handicaps, overs, btts, etc) and quote odds please. No non-league except Conference Premier and if you go obscure let me know the results if you want to be included in the prize draw.

    Man City -1 hcap win
could have gone for the -2 but playing it safe, City are scoring goals for fun at home and should continue this with an average Cardiff side
Coventry v Preston over 2.5 goals,
this produced a 4-4 game last time out and 3-2 before that, Coventry scoring and conceding all round and Preston bar their last game are knocking in the goals also.
    Luton win
Should bounce back from their last draw, are one of the UK inform teams and score plenty at home, they play Wrexham whom are mid table, play well at home but generally poor away.
    Man C -1 win
    Preston v Cov C over 2.5 goals
    Luton win

Hate backing my own team (Hull City) but draw no bet just over evens looks tempting, Norwich are in a bit of a disarray at the moment and the pressure is mounting on Chris Houghton. We’ve been blessed with the additions of Jelavic and Long recently and whilst Long isn’t expected to start, Jelavic is. 23/20 Draw no bet
Also; race to 2 goals QPR – evens; while they’re not prolific at home by any means of the imagination I can see Huddersfield grabbing a goal, especially if Wells starts up top, which means QPR will need a minimum of 2 as I expect them to win.
race to 2 goals Luton – evens; Wrexham’s away form isn’t the best and with Luton going through a purple patch, recently smashing Kidderminster I can see them hitting the back of the net at least twice.
Liverpool to hit 3 or more goals – 4/5; SAS self explanatory really and brushing teams aside for fun at home this season.
All look decent bets in my opinion

  21. Avatar of Danny

Also Halifax vs Cambridge over 2.5 goals – Evens; Cambridge are normally in low scoring games away from home however Halifax at home have the philosophy of you score, we’ll score more.

Arsenal will have opportunity to improve their goal difference against a Fulham team who have leaked in goals at an alarming rate this season, 46 in league games.

Rochdale have won more games and points at home than any other team in league 2.
Plymouth although playing well on current form wont relish the trip up north after losing 2-3 midweek in a toughly fought FA Cup tie v Port Vale.

Scunthorpe are flying at the moment, not lost in last 9 league games whilst scoring 11 with only 2 against in their last 5 league games. They will have more than enough fire power to overcome a Wimbledon team who have lost half of their league away matches, (6) so far this season.

My treble of the day therefore is…

    Arsenal -1

    Rochdale

    Scunthorpe

BARNSLEY. Playing a very, very chaotic Blackpool. I’ve stated before about backing against Barnsley when their backs are against the wall. Barnsley need the points. Blackpool need a new manager, players, chairman.
READING. Strong at home. W5 D5 L2. Against a Bolton side missing recognized strikers. SHEFF U. Got to go with Sheff U against Bradford in this Yorkshire battle. Nigel Clough waving his magic like his old fella use to. Harshly sacked by Derby in my opinion. Them three pay what they pay with whoever you do them with.

Did well last Saturday so let’s hope it continues this weekend.

Nothing put on yet but looking at the following bets. Aston Villa at 14-1 is catching my eye. Brendan Rodgers is doing a fantastic job at Liverpool but on the odd occasion they absolutely stink the place out. Southampton at home, Hull City away, Villa at home last season. Similar to last season, Brendan’s Liverpool were on cloud 9 with some very impressive form. Their defence against Stoke was all over the place and last season Aston Villa hammered Liverpool at Anfield. 14-1 way too big imo.

Cardiff at 25-1 is another that stands out to me. Man City played in midweek, Cardiff already beat Man City this season.

Fulham and Draw double chance 7-2
Villa and Draw double chance 7-2
Cardiff and Draw double chance 11-2
    Newcastle at 17-11
    Walsall at 9-4
    Bristol Rovers at 5-2
    AFC Wimbledon 18-5
    Leeds at 11-4

hi Mr F. I’m here again with my tips.
    1. Chelsea vs Man utd:
chelsea are on a good run of form especially at home where they haven’t lost a match since the mourinho era. All the chelsea players are fit and would relish the chance to play Man U. And for me, this is gonna herald doom for Manchester united. Manchester united are not in good form at the moment and considering that moyes is aware of the unavailability of his side’s major threat (rooney and rvp), moyes would rather advice his team to sit deep and settle for a draw. But to me, chelsea’s plethora of attacking mieldfielder are going to hurt man u throughout this game. Below are my tips:
    1. Chelsea fc to win
    2. Over 2.5 goals
    3. BTTS – NO.
    4. Predicted score: 3 – 0 chelseafc.
What do you reckon Mr F?

p79 Liverpool on their worst form (this season) will get hammered by Aston Villa. Will it happen today? I don’t know. Is it a 14-1 chance? I don’t think so. Liverpool have played 21 times and had awful form in 2 of those games. That’s a 10.5-1 chance.

To me 14-1 is a good bet.

I’m happy with Scunthorpe and the Super J’s beating Hearts. I have a problem with Boro though, just don’t fancy them. I therefore need to narrow down my thoughts and research to just one more from:

    Birmingham v Yeovil
    Wigan @ Doncaster
    Colchester @ Carlisle
    Any ideas lads?

And my pick from Scotland’s card:
Livingston v Morton (Morton got a draw last week but they are still awful)
Annan v Clyde (Annan won 4 in a row!)

Hmmm, more research needed I think

Been reading up on Annan. Apparently boys who have seen both teams reckon Clyde are still the better team and are just going through a sticky patch. Annan have just hit a purple patch. Most predictions from fans of both clubs are draw or narrow wins. Too close to call IOW. I am also wary of Clyde’s history of good results down there. They have win 5/6 at Annan and sometimes that confidence at a ground is all it takes. I do still like Livingston. Morton’s draw at home to Raith was a fluke, they are Rank and Livi have comfortably beaten better teams than Morton at home and humped the second worst team in Div 1, Cowdenbeath 5-1. I’m hoping this is another easy home win. Same story with Wigan, playing a team that is rank rotten! Might still consider them along with Livi and Scunny but Annan going off Annan

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 11 years ago

craigdon, on current form Annan will win and that’s got to be considered. Morton have a new manager and six new players including Garry O’Connor so be wary – O’Connor did OK on his debut last week despite a lack of match fitness to should be better at Livi.
