IT strikes me today that it might be sensible to have a punt on the Grand National at this relatively early stage.
I'll no doubt have further selections for the race nearer the time along with my usual horse-by-horse guide to the race but CLOTH CAP runs today at Kelso in a race where he needs to improve by about 10lbs on official ratings to win. I think that is entirely possible and even if he runs close to the likes of Aso and Two For Gold today running off level weights it will demonstrate that he is ahead of the handicapper.
For that reason I am recommending an ante post bet for CLOTH CAP in the Grand National. The best price is currently 14/1 with Bet365 who are offering 5 places each way so that's the way I will play it.
I expect his price to shorten considerably if he runs well in the 2.40pm at Kelso today so try to get on before then if you can. Apologies for the short notice but it has only just dawned on me that this is a sensible bet to place today so I thought that I would share.
Great tipping ?
Cheers Hopper! Very pleased with that
I hope a few people got on. Sincere apologies again for the short notice – Fridays and Saturdays are just so busy and it only came to me last minute in a moment of inspiration ?
Cheers VOV I actually bet him 2 days ago twice at 15.3/1 wi Hills boost.
I had the same feeling as you and only 10/4 on his back in the National ?
Brilliant Deb ????
Great insight voice.
Cheltenham only 10 days away now, any chance of publishing a list of ante post tips for us to mull over.
It’s a bit more murky not knowing if Elliott horses are going to be re-homed in time.
Only one I fancy strongly is thyme hill in the strangers hurdle and though some are underwhelmed by al boum photo, he has won 2 gold cups irrespective of the opposition, as you know course form is a big plus at cheltenham.
Thyme hill 3-1
Al boum photo 7-2
2 singles and double …..
Stayers not strangers ?
Working on that this weekend mate! Already covered the four big races last month but loads to come including handicaps ?
Elvis
Elliott horses WILL be at Cheltenham, Denise Foster has taken over the training……..cough !!!
Nice one VOV. I backed Tiger Roll for the national at 11s a couple of years ago just before he won the X-country chase at Cheltenham. Think he won at about 4s.
Cloth cap looks to have an awful lot in his favour for the national and he will now be “officially well in”.
I think the conditional is nicely weighted in the national on 10-6.
Its ashame tiger roll will not line up for the national but how can the owners expect a rating in the 150s when he won his second national off 159? I’m guessing the O’Learys thought the handicapper would relent given Tiger Rolls status and importance to the race.
I wonder if he could still be supplemented given a change of heart.
