WE have a sensational few days of racing coming up and it should be ideal fare for getting the feet up and drinking what’s left of the Christmas booze.
On Boxing Day I’ve got three selections and I’ll be back with selections for the 27th and beyond too.
Have a listen to the Gambla Racing Podcast where we preview the Boxing Day action and I have an early selection for the Welsh Grand National:
1.50pm Kempton
This looks a competitive novice chase but at the prices I think that IF THE CAP FITS is worth a small win bet. He was the best of these over hurdles and despite losing at short odds last time out excuses can be made for him.
2.05pm Wetherby
There aren’t as many entries for the Roland Merrick chase as you might expect this season but it’s still a decent field and our new favourite horse BEAU BAY runs again after winning three weeks ago at 20-1. This is a step up in trip but shouldn’t be a problem for him considering he completed the 4 miles in the Grand National a couple of years back in 9th place. He has gone up a bit in the weights but this is a weaker race than the Grand Sefton in my book so h has every chance again if that win hasn’t taken too much out of him.
3.00pm Kempton
It’s King George time and most of you will have your own opinion on who the most likely winner is. For me the value bet is CLAN DES OBEAUX. This is his race, having won it twice on the spin and I think his price is very fair. He is aimed at this each year and should be peaking nicely for the race. It will be fascinating to see whether Cyrname will improve on last season’s effort (couldn’t be much worse really) or if another contender like Santini or Real Steel will emerge but I’m backing CDO and really looking forward to the race.
