Princess Rascal ensured it was a profitable day after being well backed into 7/2, but winning at advised odds of 7/1.

Oliver Cole's filly is very talented, but extremely quirky. Her head carriage is an issue, but thankfully, at this level, it didn't hinder her. At many stages of the race, it looked like she wasn't going to go ahead and get the win, but she pulled away at the finish.

The other two selections on the day didn't manage to land a blow. Fallen Angel was impressive in the Group 1 in the race I stuck up Lady Of Spain, who finished tired and out of the places. Coltrane tried making the running at Longchamp and was battling hard against the eventual winner, Caballo De Mar. Coltrane got tired in the final furlong, handing the victory over to George Scott's horse, who was beaten in a handicap a month ago when I tipped him up, but is now a Group 1 winner.

Puerto Rico 4/1 (1pt) – Longchamp 1.15

It's always a tough task weighing up the French form of their juvenile performances, but I think it is worth taking on their main hopes for this race.

I was tempted to give A Bit Of Spirit a try after winning on soft ground last time out in tenacious style, but I did really like the performance of Puerto Rico at Doncaster. Sean Levey gave Puerto Rico a great running ride in the Champagne Stakes Group 2, and I think he won that race with a decent amount of authority.

He had many of the main runners in the field going for home a long way out. He kept rolling on the front end and was still green, wandering around inside the final furlong. If he were more straight and narrow, the winning margin could easily have been more than the one length.

The ground is an unknown, but he is by Wootton Bassett, who handled this ground, and his Dam's best performance came on soft ground. Not only that, Wootton Bassett won this race as a juvenile, so that's another string to Puerto Rico's bow.

She's Quality 17/2 (1pt) – Longchamp 1.50

It's quite incredible how consistent She's Quality has been, and it's surely a matter of time before she manages to land a big race.

She's Quality has danced all the big dances and been the bridesmaid on four races at the start of the season, and was fourth in the recent Flying Five at the Curragh. It's hard to tell what ground is her most preferred, as she is very versatile, but I think the soft ground will help her. She gets going late in her races, so the added stamina required to see out the trip today on testing ground is surely a positive.

She is drawn towards the middle, so if she breaks well, she can tack across and get a nice position. This race is normally a race for not getting a run, as they all come across to the far rail and make things congested. Thankfully, she has shown an early pace in her races, so getting forward shouldn't be an issue.

Quisisana 18/1 (0.5pt EW, 4pl) – Longchamp 3.05

Even though there are many top-notch performers in this year's Arc, it doesn't look like one of the best we've seen in recent years. The favourite probably deserves to be in that position, as she is unbeaten and has won many good filly races throughout the season. However, I am willing to give the Francis Graffard runner, Quisisana, a chance after showing improved form on every run this year.

I wouldn't read too much into Barzalona or Soumillon not being on board, as they are attached to the Aga Khan and O'Brien stable at present. Quisisana has a nice draw in Stall 7, which means she can break well and get a nice position, and if she doesn't break the best, she can sit in midfield at the very worst. Stall 1 for the favourite is a problem, as if she doesn't break as well as the others around her, she could find herself in a heap of trouble.

Quisisana beat Survie on his last start over shorter distances. That is decent form, as the runner-up was seventh in this race last year, and my fancy beat him with ease.

The ground and track will be fine; it's all down to whether she is good enough on the day against a stronger field.
