It was a winning Saturday with Pyledriver showing why he’s the real deal.
The race played out beautifully with Fox Tal setting a fast pace. He sat in behind for 3/4 of the race and pounced around the bend and was sent for the line with ease.
Far from his best and it didn’t look like he was given a proper hard ride either, nonetheless he was a steal at that price and some of you even got on at 5/2!
I’ve again just the one selection for Sunday and it comes from Cheltenham.

Sunday's renewal is unfortunately a small field, however the select few that do go to post make it a decent race.
Put The Kettle On for me is the one to be on in this. She’s the current 2m chaser champion. With the emphasis on this track in my opinion being mostly about stamina she ticks all the boxes.
She’s as hard as they come and really does knuckle down and show great determination when it comes to the business part of the race.
The Skeltons run Nuba Negra who looks the main danger. After rewatching the Champion Chase from last match Nuba Negra was pretty unlucky to not go on and land that, however she has to give 7lb to Put The Kettle On tomorrow who comes in at a bottom weight of 10-13.
A 7lb swing could prove the difference between the two… especially when it’s given to a horse that has the quality that Put The Kettle On has.

There’s no 7lb swing. She got 7lbs in the Champion Chase too. She’s a mare and will always get that

Hello mate, thank you for your comment. I don’t think you’ve taken what I’ve said in my write up correctly or at least misinterpreted it.
Of course you are right in what you say, she’s a mare and will receive that allowance. What I was getting at was more directed at the mares allowance. There’s been great debate as of late surrounding the mares allowance.. if it’s fair or more importantly is it even really necessary.
I remember being involved in a debate last year on racing post. We were discussing the mares allowance and honeysuckle. Many debated if she wasn’t in receipt of that allowance that maybe she wouldn’t have the record she stands at now. Interesting debate but can get messy..

They shouldn’t get the 7lbs in championship races anyway so there’s no debate as to who the best horse is but unfortunately they do.
