Apologies for the Our Cody tip. She was horrendous, and it was something I didn't expect.
She was the 3/1 favourite when tipped up, but went off at triple the price at 9/1. She ran as the drift said. If she drifted to 5/1, or something like that, I wouldn't have been concerned, as that would have been a fair price, but she was awful.
Get Outta Here was held up, and when he came with his effort through the field, I thought he was going to pick off the long-time leader. He didn't, and looked to be gassed after making up a lot of ground. Finished third.
Witness Stand 9/4 (1.5pt) – Chester 3.52
I would be surprised if Witness Stand isn't below 2/1 by the time he races for this Listed race.
I think he has the best chance in this race and has to be the most likely winner on his recent form. I don't think you can read into his most recent run 100%, as the winner has gone on to win a Group 1, but it was still a very strong run.
Witness Stand was a close second in this race last year, and I think this track is made for him. He is a strong front-running horse, and even from stall 6, I think he can dictate from the front.
From what I can see, nothing stands out on the page as a huge danger, even Holguin, who has won this race on two occasions.
Just An Hour 5/1 (1pt) – Chester 5.00
This is a tightly contested affair, with not much between the first four or five in the betting. Just An Hour was the one who edged it.
Rod Millman has only sent two horses to Chester in the last five years, and that has returned one win.
My selection has form tied in closely with a couple of these, as he was behind Taritino at Salisbury, who has since won at Chester. My fancy was running against Taritino when he was better handicapped, so I think that rates higher than the others.
Also, Just An Hour has been running in better quality races than this, so I think he can capitalise on a drop in class. He won off a 1lb higher mark a year ago, so everything points towards a good run.
Rosa Inglesa 10/3 (1.5pt) – Ascot 4.45
I tipped up Rosa Inglesa in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, and when I saw her making her effort through the field late on, I thought we might win. She didn't get the job done, but did finish third in that race, which was still a solid effort.
This is undoubtedly a weaker race, and with the handicapper only putting her up by 1lb, she must be in with a superb chance of winning.
Kaiya Fraser gets a rare ride for the Fellowes yard, and it would be nice to see him get a big Saturday winner, as I think he's one of the jockeys to keep an eye on going forward.
