Today was a bit of a shambles and definitely a day for the bookmakers. My main selection Skatman never stayed the trip… well at least not to the degree I thought he would.
He was positioned nicely to throw down a challenge but he was pushed to close the gap a few out and plugged on at the one pace.
My second selection was an each way punt on Potters Corner, although he didn’t hit the frame, that didn’t tell the whole story. I personally thought he ran a blinder and he unfortunately faded in the final stages.
I’ve decided to avoid Cheltenham tomorrow. I’ll maybe come back to it on Sunday. Tomorrow's NAP single comes from Lingfield.
The Coronation Cup winner Pyledriver drops down in trip tomorrow to 1m 2f but he's head and shoulders above the rest of the field. If showing up in top nick, after a lay off, he shouldn’t have much trouble.
After looking at the rest of the field, I can’t really see anything giving him much bother.
I noticed Felix has been backed into 3/1 and the market have the both of them not far off joint favourites… very strange.
I can’t wrap my head around it. Although Felix is a class 1 horse his previous couple of runs have been average at best, some would argue below average. The only thing I can think of that would swing in Felix favour is the fact we know he acts well on the surface. That then brings me to my last point.
The only real negative I can think of for Pyledriver is the surface. There’s some question marks on whether he’ll be as effective on the AW as he is on the turf but I’m not really looking much into that and I wouldn’t let it put you off him.
