I’M BACK with my free racing tips for Saturday and this week we take in racing at both Ascot and Haydock.
I’m tipping up 8 horses in 8 separate races which I think is the most I have ever had on any given day. It’s a busy one and I’m very much looking forward to getting my teeth into it.
2.45pm Ascot
SALUTE THE SOLDIER is improving and running well at the moment and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him nick this at a nice price. The trip is ideal, ground no issue and Ascot shouldn’t pose any problems for him. He has only gone up 3lb in the handicap for his last win at Goodwood and this lightly raced 4 year old can do the business again.
3.00pm Haydock
I like the chances of HE’S A KEEPER here who I would make more or less the favourite for the race. He had a nice win over course and distance last time on soft ground so the conditions are perfect and he should have plenty more improvement to come. He looks a good value bet to me at 11-2 and those of you who like a cheeky each way bet could go each way to protect your stake.
3.20pm Ascot
I think the value bet here is SHE’S GOT YOU who I would price up a bit shorter than the 7-2 currently available. She is likely to be the sort that John Gosden brings along slowly with gradual improvement and she can win this on the way to bigger and better things.
3.35pm Haydock
Regular readers will know that this isn’t the first time I have backed TIME TO STUDY who I think is an admirable staying handicapper. He enjoys soft ground, won nicely over in France a few weeks ago to show he is in form and comes here with his lowest handicap mark for 2 years. Young Cieren Fallon with his valuable claim hasn’t been booked for no reason and I expect a good run from him today at a double figure price. Some bookies are offering 5 places each way so I’ll try to take advantage of that.
3.55pm Ascot
NEVER DO NOTHING is my choice here in a tricky race. The key for me is that he remains an improving 3 year old and today’s conditions should be ideal. Again we’re getting extra places with some bookies for this race including William Hill and Ladbrokes so keep that in mind.
4.10pm Haydock
This is a race where conditions are absolutely ideal for THE TIN MAN who has been 3rd and 1st in the last two runnings of this race and he shouldn’t be a double figure price. Others might not like the soft ground but it will be no problem for him and he should be there or thereabouts.
4.30pm Ascot
I’m taking a punt at a big price on GOLDEN APOLLO who is a very consistent sprinter for Tim Easterby. He has been running well in defeat this season and now drops down to his lowest handicap mark in over 2 years. I reckon he’ll be able to go close at a big price.
4.45pm Haydock
Last but not least for me on Saturday is SHE CAN BOOGIE who gets the conditions she is looking for after a few runs on firmer ground. Richard Kingscote is back on board and nobody rides Haydock better than him. She is probably my strongest bet of the day.
Good luck to all!
Having a shot at the horses
1.50 Haydock – Laafy 12/1
2.45 Ascot – Ripp Orf @ 7/1
4.30 Ascot – Fille De Reve @ 14/1
