It was nice to see Only Money do me a favour and not make me look like a mug and win in good style, after I said he was overpriced at 15/8. He actually drifted out slightly to 2/1 and won with plenty in hand, and did what I thought he would've done. As for the other selection, Game of War, he was never really in the race at any point. His jumping wasn't up to scratch, so even if he was closer to the pace, he wouldn't have got close.

Even though CHEF D'OEUVRE was poor last time I put him up as a selection, but there were definitely excuses and I'm willing to give him another chance in this, as I do think he is bordering on a big run, whether that's today or not, I'm willing to put my money down to find out.
Last time out at Haydock conditions were bottomless, even for Haydock, which is saying something. It was clear as daylight that Blaklion was the only horse who handled the conditions, as he won at ease and it looked like he cut through the ground like a hot knife through butter. With conditions that bad, I think a line can be put through a lot of horses in that race, and the selection is one. He was dropped 4lbs for that run, which was generous, as I thought the race he ran before that Haydock race was a sign of a return to form, so I will happily take the 4lb drop. He won earlier in the year off a mark of 124, so is on a good handicap mark. Connections seem to think this trip and track should suit, which is a good sign of confidence for a yard who do well at this track.
The winner of this race gets a decent pot of £15,609 so you'd expect this to be a competitive race. The favourite has looked like a horse whose had plenty in hand from his recent wins, but the handicapper might have the grips of him now, as he's been raised another 8lbs. He also carries 11st 10lbs, which will be a tough ask, where as the selection carries a nice weight of 10st 9lbs, which is beneficial on ground which is currently described as ‘soft' over a very long trip of 3m 6f.

1350n – Won’t advise it but PJ Mac is the man at Newcastle, Menzies has two in the race and has used him here recently to good effect, but he has opted for PERCY WILLIS, around 3/1 it’s gone close off these marks and will perhaps have a small nibble without any expectation in a race I barely scratched the surface off.
1340c – Tumbling Dice has about 10 nails in his coffin, sure he won lto, but goes off 10 higher and the trainers last 3 winning jockeys are all on others. Hidden Cargo has a 13lb weight pull whilst her main man is on Melanamix, a horse yet to win and is up in trip, a bit short too so I’ll chance a total outsider at punt stakes Spider’s Bite 18/1 4 places

no harm done, sickness the 66/1 won spider bites arce, was so well hcapped was of interest, the amount of gut picks that go in for me that i don’t chance is enough to make you quit. royal act 20/1 was calling out, left it alone put 2£ on 50/1 shot, we go few lngths clear only for royal act to beat us late, dirty! one day i’ll suss it. well done others.
