Racing Tips: Wednesday’s All-Weather Racing Tips Southwell & Wolverhampton

Tuesday's meeting was abandoned at Chepstow due to the cold conditions. Although I only had one selection up it is always frustrating when you do a study and a write-up and it means nothing in the end.

That being said, the jockey's and horse's well-being will always be a priority in these circumstances and that's the most important thing. No one enjoys watching a horse take a tumble.

To avoid the possibility of another cancellation due to the forecast weather I have decided to stick to the meetings at the flat on the AW.

I've seen meetings cancelled on the AW before but there's a higher chance of those meetings going ahead than the meeting at Plumpton.

I've gone for 2 selections tomorrow and fingers crossed I can keep up the winning momentum.

Ray of colours 3/1 – Southwell 5:45

Although this is only a four-runner contest I was surprised that Ray Of Colours wasn't priced up a bit shorter than 3/1.

Trained by Charlie Johnston, Ray Of Colours near caused a 33/1 upset when recording a career-best run. A positive ride was given to Ray Of Colours that day and he was unfortunate to not go closer having just faded towards the end.

I think the form of that particular run, although finishing 4th on the day has been boosted with the eventual winner Mohatu finishing second next time out.

Mohatu should of won that race on the day, I actually backed him ( probably why it lost ).

There was some controversy surrounding that race, Mohatu bumped into the mighty river who ended up winning the race and a steward's enquiry was never called.

Mohatu would have won that race with a bit in hand if the mess in running never occurred, I'm quite confident about that statement.

Ray Of Colours now goes handicapping off a mark of 70 and I can see another vintage front running display by jockey Franny Norton on the cards which hopefully sees Ray Of Colours get his head in front.

Fast Style 11/4 – Wolverhampton 3:15

Another selection that I'm surprised to see priced bigger than I expected is the Mick Appleby trained Fast Style.

Fast Style previously went down the hurdling route however it didn't go to plan and was pulled up on his previous two runs over the obstacles. He switched yards from trainer Sam Alwood to Mick Appleby after the hurdle runs and he returned off a 186-day break to win on debut for Mick on the flat where he is clearly seen in a better light.

There should be more to come from him this year and Mick Appleby has booked jockey Tom Marquand for the ride.
