WALEYDD (2.25) was just denied on debut at Newbury 27 days ago and Roger Varian's colt is fancied to go one better at Newcastle.
He had more than two lengths in hand of John Gosden's Mishriff back in third and that one cantered home by ten lengths at Nottingham next time. Gosden saddles favourite Galsworthy with a very obvious chance and market signals should be noted.
Another Newmarket raider on the card is Marco Botti's BIG DADDY KANE (3.00) making his handicap debut off an attractive mark. The three-year-old chased home Saeed bin Suroor's Nsnas at Wolverhampton and third horse Classic Design scored last week to give the form a solid look. Keith Dalgleish's Home Before Dusk has a terrific record on this Tapeta surface and pulled more than three lengths clear on his last visit. The handicapper has raised him another 7lb but he should still be in the firing line along with Arabic Culture in an open event.
